Update log file 1: Cortez

Good day to anyone who is reading this series of logs after we return from the finished voyage. My name is Lydia De La Torre, and my file can be viewed here. For this log, we will be covering Cortez.

Cortez has a unique layout, and seems to be a system of great interest to many parties. We left from the Coronado Jump Hole, located near the bottom right of grid D3, just behind Planet Curacao. The planet itself was colored quite similarly to the space around it, which I found very interesting. We docked on the planet, and Professor Ransom bought several extra supplies, as well as taking samples of the atmosphere. In addition, we sampled the local food, which was fairly good, but not important to the file. We left Curacao and headed close to the planet towards a complex of several Bretonian Land Lease capital ships in formation, seemingly docked and not moving. It was very interesting. In addition we saw 2 derelict ships outside of the trade lane, around 1.2k from the docking ring of the station. The 2 ships were identified as the "Yukon", an Overlord Liberty Dreadnought, and the "Betheny", a Valor Gallic Battleship, of which specific Gallic faction I do not know, although Jeanne deduces that its a GRN vessel.

Moving on to outer regions: we entered an active warzone in grids E/F2. There were 2 permanent Liberty Battlecruisers placed on the periphery of the warzone, as the center was riddled with snubcraft engaged in combat, floating scrap and dead bodies, and capital ships firing mortars at each other. We quickly fled the area and we head back to Curacao to start cataloging the various jump holes and stellar phenomena. We found another derelict, by the name of "Edward Kane", located around E5. Life signs were nonexistent on the ship, and we extracted 12 gold pieces and several guns. We then returned to Curacao and headed into Liberty space.
