Philippe Renaud - tazuras - 03-31-2009

//This started as a summary and is currently being fleshed out as I have the time and receive feedback.

Philippe Renaud is a Gallic Prince, the son of Alexis and Emmeline Renaud. Long before Philippe was born, as younger members of the royal family, the Renaud's often traveled on goodwill missions throughout Gallia, giving things to the poor, opening new health facilities and the like. After opening one such hospital on Marne their transport was delayed and so they decided to take a closer look at the facility. Everything looked very clean and proper, as they were entering the lobby to leave haggard man stumbled through the door, bleeding from his midsection. The nurses rushed over to him and immediately placed him on a hover-lift and rushed him to the emergency ward. Concerned for the man and eager to see the new facility put to the test Alexis and Emmeline insisted they follow, despite their advisers protests. They looked into the room and watched the doctor at work.

"Oh this is bad..." said the doctor

He pulled out a scanning device, passed it over the mans body and regarded it carefully.

"He's going to need a new liver, good thing we just received some."

"Doctor, this man's ID indicates he is a class D worker"

At this point the Renaud's aids became very agitated and tried to hurry them away.

"That's to bad," They heard the doctor say. Then the saw the nurse get out a black pneumatic syringe and give the man an injection and pull the cover over his head.

When they returned to New Paris they spoke to many members of the royal family about their experience. All of them brushed them off saying something like "Don't be so negative, look at the wonderful life we live" or "Oh he was just a worker, that's their lot in life."

The Renaud's soon realized that they were going to get no support for change in the Monarchy, not the way that it was at least. They further researched the plight that many Gallic workers called life, but none of it ever convinced any of the monarchy. It was then that they decided to contact The Council.

At first things were rather rough. They received back only messages of hatred and disgust, questioning everything about them, asking how they could ever be trusted. Finally they revealed the time and location of a Navy weapons shipment. After this relations became slightly more agreeable. As time passed and the Renaud's gained the council's trust. They began to help arrange the passing of messages from double agents within the monarchy's secret service to The Council. This was how they met Georges and Marie.

Georges and Marie were Gallic agents who worked in co-ordination with The Junkers to move information and technology from Sirius to Gallia. Considering The Council planned to seek allies from Sirius this information was vital to them. Recruiting them was not easy, the main concern was finding people sympathetic to The Council's cause. After learning much about Sirius and the living conditions of even the lowest class citizen in many of the houses Georges and Marie, who both had low class workers in their family, were ideal candidates for recruitment.

Usually Alexis had the communication arranged by proxies, data handed off from one person to another so it didnt have to be transmitted directly from Georges or Marie. This wasnt very suspect in the eyes of the agents assigned to "protect" the Renaud's, most of the monarchy made all sorts of secretive arrangements, trying to one up each other. One night though, Alexis' plan fell through and he had to deliver the data himself. Emmeline feigned a coughing fit to distract the agents and Alexis managed to slip away under the guise of getting help. He made his way to the vehicle storage area of the palace where the hand-off was to be made. When Georges saw Alexis he was shocked, he had never thought a member of the monarchy would be complicit in Council activities. They said nothing, but their eyes locked for in instant and in that instant they both fully understood each others commitment.

Things continued this way for years. In 792 AS Emmeline gave birth to Philippe. Two years later the revolution on Marne occurred. The Monarchy began to crack down on security. Everyone was being interviewed by by the Gallic Secret Service. Decades old surveillance recordings were being reviewed and re-reviewed looking for leeks. Alexis and Emmeline knew they would have to make a decision soon, to try and stay and hope they weren't found out, or to seek refuge among the Council. Their decision to leave was not an easy one. They knew The Council was no place for Philippe to grow up, but that is was too risky to stay on New Paris. In the end they decided to have him smuggled into Sirius as it was the only place he would be safe, luckily they knew of exactly the right two people to help them.

Knowing how much the Renaud's helped The Council's cause over the years Georges and Marie instantly agreed to help. Knowing it was also possible they may have soon been discovered aided their decisions. They made their way to Languedoc, hiding amongst the Junkers on the way, bribing them to help with funds given to them by Alexis. They made it to Lodeve Space Port where they were able to acquire a mine runner and using it traveled through the minefeild to Sirius.

Using commodities they bought at Lodeve Georges and Marie were able to make enough money to get set up and remain hidden from the Junkers. Philippe was raised by them in Kusari to show how a society who dislikes all outsiders is flawed and to keep him away from any junker agents who might figure out who he was, he was also brought up to think his name was Louis, again for his protection. He was never told his true identity.

In 816 his caretakers died and left him an armored transport. They also left him a letter that said they were not his real parents and contained the co-ordinates to the Languedoc jump hole in Orkney and his true name. The latter also contained instructions to recruit a crew who would be loyal and go to the co-ordinates and find The Council to discover his true heritage. Finally it said not to trust any junker.

Philippe traveled to Orkney and discovered a large minefield surrounding the co-ordinates mentioned in the letter. After then he knew all he could do was wait and hope something changed so he took jobs moving equipment and personal to and from Dounby Station for the IMG.

When the field was breached in 817 Philippe knew his time had come. He did not try and contact The Council immediately though, his caretakers had taught him to be cautious. During the first several weeks of activity Philippe watched Reunion Station being built and saw many junker vessels passing through the area. Once Reunion was completed and traffic through the passage had slowed Philippe went to Reunion and sent a secure transmission to The Council. He received a reply to come to Nimes station.

On Nimes Philippe was greated by Xavier Richelieu, a person of some power within the council. Xavier told Philippe who he was and who his parents were. He also told him he had a claim to the throne of Gallia. He told Philippe of the plight of the Gallic people. Philippe was stunned by all this. He spent the night aboard his transport docked on Nimes. The next day Xavier showed Philippe around Quillan. He showed him some of the conditions the average Gallic citizen had to endure under the monarchy. At the end of the day Xavier asked Philippe to stay and help The Council. Phillipe wasn't sure what he was going to do, it was so much for him to take in.

Philippe spent the next week traveling around Gallia, talking to citizens and members of The Council. He was even smuggled onto Nevers were he saw the true hypocrisy of the Monachary, the luxuries the rich were granted while everyone else suffered. When he returned to Marne Philippe was sure of what he had to do, he had to do everything in his power to de-throne the king and help his people.

As soon as Philippe informed Xavier of his decision Xavier transfered command of all his forces to Phillipe. Of course Xavier insisted he replace his second and command with a much more hardened commander that had served with The Council his entire life. Philippe had all the members of the fleet now under his command gather on his newly renamed battleship, the Citoyen-Roi (Citizen King). There he gave an impassioned speech about the love he felt for his newly found brethren in gallia, the pain he felt at them being stepped on by the rich and the royals, much like the pain he felt growing up as an outsider in Kusari, and the drive he had to claim the throne and use his power to create a new government, a government of the people. At the end of his speech he invited anyone who did not believe in his cause to leave and re-join the rest of the council forces. No one left. This was how the Loyalistes de Philippe Renaud began.
