First ship log 1/4/828 entry,

made by acting commanding officer Barbora Shedivova. This is the first ship log entry of the RNC Emden, our new home. Ship appears in much better condition than my previous vessel, although her configuration seems outdated. Much of our current crewmen are survivors from various federal vessels. Given their uneven history and "patched-together" nature, it will take quite a lot of time to put this vessel at its peak efficiency. The major concern is our Jump drive, which hasn't been tested yet, so it remains offline until we are given proper access codes from our HQ.

The biggest change for us is our MND assignment. We are no longer "true" military officers as we were before, but my crewmen accepted it surprisingly well. I don't blame them, as we had our fair share of alien encounters and many of our former colleagues are still recovering from these encounters. MND techniques and training are the best option for us to survive another alien encounters intact - physically and mentally.

But it changes a little in our current situation. Without top notch crew and ship, we are hardly an intelligence vessel. Our orders remain practically unchanged - assist any allied ship within Rheinland space and follow orders given by our BDM superiors to the letter.

My crew will have to receive as many drills as possible.

Barbora Shedivova, RNC Emden's commanding officer.

Ship log 10/4/828 entry,

made by acting commanding officer Barbora Shedivova. I took my vessel on a trip around the Rheinland space. It was first real practice for my newly assembled helm crew. It was also a good excuse to run some real drills. The results were unsatisfactory. My crew will have to receive more training and drills.

Aside from crew members, RNC Emden will have to receive proper drydocking in the near future. While the hull is sound and good as new, some armor plating shows dissimilar metal corrosion, caused by harsh conditions in Hohenfeld and Westerwald combined with some less that stellar repair job.
There are also some coolant leaks and excess vibrations when the Emden is at its full power. My chief engineer says, that these issues are not critical and ship threatening, but it might cause some trouble later.

One was or another, I'll have to sum up some maintenance request for the high command.

Other than that, our shakedown cruise was rather uneventful. The only excitement, aside from escorting few high-value vessels like APM Magnificient or OS&C Breezewood, was our brief sighting of suspicious gunboat moving through the Frankfurt. Sadly, I wasn't fast or thorough enough to record footage of said vessel. Maybe next time.

Barbora Shedivova, RNC Emden's commanding officer.
