The Omicron Nu Battles. Liberty vs Core - Dark Chocolate - 07-11-2021

Omicron Nu has somehow become the most happening place with the battles between The Liberty Navy and The Core, July 10th being the largest one till date.

Well Kusari has been dead since, idk how long.. but did come alive a bit in the Sigma 21 battle..
Rheinland was killed by the civil war lol, So my Turtle is getting rusty.. and My Valor has become irrelevant ever since the war ended...

The universe does seem to be in peace... but.. nothing really happening around kinda gets boring

The way the conflict is escalating between The Liberty Navy and The Core feels like it's gonna lead to a bloody war. Player Activity has significantly raised in Omicron Nu.

Below is the Roleplay that happened during the confrontation

Here's a video of the Battle. From Perspective of Core. WV-Elegance
(If you like it please support my channel.. It's only a button press for you but it means a lot to me Smile.. It takes quite some efforts to make these.. Do let me know if you have any suggestions or criticism..)

Here's another one from Perspective of Liberty Navy. LNS-Akhetaten

I hope the devs push the idea forward and we get a war between The Liberty Navy and The Core

RE: The Omicron Nu Battles. Liberty vs Core - Darius - 07-11-2021

Y'know this conflict is more "players using a loophole in the new rule system" than actual roleplay, right? (BAF Vs GN fights in Provence before it was made an independent system were kinda the exact same thing, just without the "laws" which Core players apply here)

As for the war part, it doesn't even make sense; Core wouldn't ever attack Houses, at least not directly.

RE: The Omicron Nu Battles. Liberty vs Core - Kauket - 07-11-2021

Daily reminder that Liberty indirectly owns the Core via Interspace Commerce who have a massive shareholder in the Core and have massive political sway in Liberty as one of the big 3

RE: The Omicron Nu Battles. Liberty vs Core - Chronicron - 07-11-2021

There is no real sense behind these PvP skirmishes, other than the desire of some players (whom I won't name out of professional courtesy, you know who you are) just to right click stuff outside of conn. And also farm activity. Yes, The Core certainly has no Nomads or Order to shoot, as well as Liberty has no Insurgency or Outcasts. Nuh-uh.

RE: The Omicron Nu Battles. Liberty vs Core - Czechmate - 07-11-2021

Well thing is Story has not considered Core at all when they made Nu.

But Core is an Evil-Lawful faction and Core's premise is both boastful domination over Omicrons and and monopoly over Omicron based Resources. They already have a monopoly over Iridium, being left out of Nu altogether with Azurite Reactor and massive relics and Nomads etc. threatens their goals.

TL;DR: Devs forgot about Core, instead did the boring Order-Navy-Zoner thing. There should be Core presence and tensions at least. Liberty's presence is weak, Core's presence should exist in some capacity.

Open war is player RP of course and has no chance to get into story. Core presence and tensions? Well, they really should be included. At the very least it would lead to Liberty+Core vs Order in canon with some legal tensions between Core+Liberty when their scouts/charters/explorers meet and don't fight nomads/infected ships/Order.

RE: The Omicron Nu Battles. Liberty vs Core - Czechmate - 07-11-2021

Also - Gentle reminder to all that current state of Nu is exploration and has very weak presence of direct combat ships

This is the Liberty Battlecruiser - not meant for direct combat. Core isn't there at all in canon for some baffling reason when Zoners and Order are in.

In canon there would be only explorers and scouts meeting randomly in the vastness of Nu with very little long-reaching consequences as it is a very much an unexplored mysterious wild west system. That players escalate it to massive fleet battles, well - that's just people playing the game Smile Neither Liberty nor Core would have any battleships there.

Simply put - Story should add core presence in equally weak capacity as Order and Liberty for starters - this seems like a total no-brainer.

No. Liberty used Liberty laws in battleships to threaten and attack Core from the day Nu was introduced. Core was told to not go there because OF was worried about losing pixels and were in the middle of player RP to be granted convoys to Liberty.

Liberty Players have escalated the exploratory small craft only canon to massive proportions from Day 1, now it's done from both sides, and it's been a lot of fun even though it's a massive over escalation over the couple inconsequential legal arguments a few scouts would have if this were actual canon gameplay.

EDIT: Also Holy shit that video quality, Music+Slomo when you killed my ship near the end - just wow!

1. Nu is the border of Liberty, hence it is in the interests of Liberty to check out what is going on there. Foreign war vessels asserting their whatever there is not what Liberty wants. This is, actually, why a lot of modern conflicts arise - be it the recent clash between Russia and the UK over HMS "Defender" passing near Crimea or Chinese/Japanese tensions whenever something, even a fishing boat, passes near Senkaku/Diaoyu islands. In my book, Libertonians acted accordingly to their interests in the region. It is not just about exploration in the region when there are some military manoeuvres near their borders.

2. Core actually pursues a quite silly policy of claiming all Omicrons (bcs Chad "Imperium Omicronis") without regard to the stellapolitical situation in those Omicrons. Core's population, industrial-military complex, and economy are simply of too small scale to execute the power projection in Nu. They simply lack the resources. If they do, however, they will stretch the resources thin for such a small faction.

3. You should not forget that should Liberty treat these encounters fully inRP, they can pledge the government to crack onto IC to cut off your financing, which would be such a severe blow against the Core, that its economy would crumble for the Sairs/Order/Nomads to exploit it. Whatever the Core does, it should at all cost avoid angering the Big Brother from New York.

All these points apply, of course, if you do consider these encounters to have an RP impact. You can, ofc, say that people are having fun - and it would be correct. Still, the other side might actually treat these encounters inRP and then they would have consequences. Since this is still an RP server, this development should not be simply dismissed. Liberty has the capacity actually to annex the Core or replace the government to make it a puppet if it desires.

Perhaps they jumpgate should've restricted the movement of capital ships if these kind of encounters are not supposed to happen.. I mean.. What was expected from the players..? "Hey, We're gonna create this 'vast' new system and call it Omicron Nu with direct connection to Liberty via Supergate.. But Oh No No No.. You are not supposed to move your Capital Ships there, atleast not until the next update.. Even though both Core and LN would have ZOI there.."

And Why would Liberty Navy Not have any battleship there.. I mean.. If they have created a Supergate that is literally exposed to the nomads and Order, shouldn't there be atleast a small fleet to protect it? If it does have a fleet there, would'nt Core have a small strike force ready, either suspecting Liberty's intentions of having warships in Nu.. Or atleast for containment if shiz goes wrong with Liberty forces.. Like.. What if the nomads infiltrate and mind control most of the Navy and the entire operation turns upside down which would ultimately threaten Core.... Yeah yeah, Liberty Navy too strong they can handle it ofcourse,.. But shouldn't Core be worried what if it's too much for Liberty?.. Core can say you don't know what you're dealing with to the Navy.. May be Core having it's 'back up' fleet or whatever would make Liberty suspicious, also hearing rumors about Core's illegal experiments through the Freelancers in Omicron idk you guys better in figuring this out than I am.. All I wanna say is... How is it canon that neither Liberty nor Core have a strike force there if needed.. How does that make sense.. Both sides should be over-protective with their stuff...

It's just people playing their game,...? You yourself stated that Liberty used legit laws to threaten and attack Core from Day 1..... Also.. It's Not just some random bunch of Corsairs Cap Ship indies blind jumping to Texas and expecting to RP there and to be taken seriously,... No.. The 46th, the LN, The =LSF=, Force!, lot of people who understand these laws were there when the things escalated. It should totally have consequences.. like Gardarik has beautifully summarized , :-

Yes I believe player actions should have consequences... Especially since it weren't just some random bunch of lolwutters... Lot of factions were involved...

And Yes Indeed it was fun...

Sure The Liberty can shjoot Insurgents and Outcasts, and The Core can Nomads and Order till the end of time,.. sure that's totally not repetitive at all.. Nuh-uh

Well Yeah.. we always do enjoy our battles with Nom noms.. But.. Why'd you dismiss even the possibility of something new and unexpected on the server..

Yes it should have RP Consequences...With Core's reckless arrogance to gain control of Omicron Nu and escalation of the situation The Liberty should cut it's ties to Omicron threatening the Core's Economy, The Core would have to increase it's alliance to Rheinland for trade and economy... With the Core economy weakening, The Corsairs should exploit the weakness and try to take control over Omegas and Omicrons.. The Core should may be ask for help and drag Rheinland into fighting Corsairs in the Omegas as increases Sair activity would be a threat to Rheinland home systems... Rheinland economically helping Core should raise the tensions between Liberty and Core... and So On...

I mean.. Yeah you all can laugh it out.. call me a noob.. whatever.. But atleast consider the possibility.. Omicron Nu where the situation has escalated to a conflict between The Liberty, Core, Order, Outcasts, Nomads, Wilde and so on... Absolute chaos and rise in activity.. You guys can laugh on me.. I don't know about as much about the politics and governments and economy as much as you guys do... But if you consider it.. It's you all who can make it work..

Sure you can have your peaceful universe but for how long.. What are you even going to do? Trade and make money??? I mean.. I don't know about you guys but the only reason I've been making moneys is so that I can upgrade my warships.. The only reason I have my warships is so that i can participate in epic battles, The thing Freelancer does best... What are we expected to do in a peaceful Universe? shjoot Outcasts who have ZOI like everywhere.. Or Simple Lawful Vs Unlawful everywhere?? Why Not try and shake things up.. The houses having conflicts with each other should be considered...

All in all.. I must say It has indeed been fun.. and situation has escalated to a point where it should not be simply ignored or dismissed...

Either there should be restriction on the Jump holes and Gates for moving capital ships, If the devs want us to play that specific way ... Sure that would kill the fun.. But may be if you think that makes sense... Who am I to say anything lol

Or the devs could have discussions with the faction leaders, community, organize polls, whatever to atleast consider what players are making out of Omicron Nu...

Aww.. Thanks man.. I put lot of work in trying to make the music in sync with the battle.. Please do check out another video on the channel labelled "Capetown Party".. Sure it's just us 3 bombers killing Battlecruiser NPCs but the music and slo-mo is kinda good to look at..
I just wish I had more audience so that I'd be motivated more to make these...
I am greatful that you did notice the quality and effects in the video.. You don't know how much it means to me.. Thank You Smile..

Look at how China through its many companies buys off stuff all around the world, be it a Greek port or Australian land market, and how China revokes its capital should the CPC be unpleased with the developments. There are always ways for a strong gov to use its resources to tap into the corporate sector, especially if the governmental branches are unbalanced. Liberty is not that centralised, but I doubt the corps running the House would like their interests to be stepped on by some small upstart Omicron entity.
