Community Event Series Suggestion - Infrastructure Reconstruction - EwoK - 07-31-2021

So, here is a suggestion for an ongoing, story supported, community interaction event.

Around the sector, there are systems with infrastructure that was never completed, was damaged or destroyed as part of the ongoing storylines.

Stage 1:
Admins highlight several systems across house or non-house space that have incomplete, damaged/destroyed bases (Glasgow Station, LD-14 or Stokes Leeds or Aland Shipyard in Omega-3), jump gates, tradelanes (Dublin and Tau-31) or planets (Leeds again). The community then has a set period of time (say a month) to gather the first round of resources and deposit them at a predetermined base in the system identified. At the end of the initial stage, the number of resources gathered in each system is tallied up and whichever system has the most, wins and we move on to the next stage.

Stage 2:
According to which system "won" the previous stage, a new resource or list of resources is posted that need to be gathered in a set period of time (say another month). You can only contribute to the base if you are a friendly ID ship of that house/controlling faction, a friendly faction or neutral. Once the time limit is up, if the required resources have not been gathered, then they are forfeited.

Details:
In both stages, hostile factions, who obviously cannot contribute, will be tasked with intercepting and stopping resources from being delivered. They will be able to sell those resources for a reasonable profit once they have been captured. ID RP rules must be maintained at all times - e.g you wouldn't expect to see BAF Cap ships running interdiction in Gallic space, for instance.

Other things to consider:
  • Resources needed for each stage should be sourced from a variety of places and distances and the number of each required, made to reflect the difficulty in obtaining them.
  • At least 1 resources could/should be a unique mined resource that would require cooperation between a miner, a transporter and then escorts at various points of the trip to the deposit site.
  • A set route or number of routes/transport corridors could be established, that the returning transports would have to fly through, to be logged as a valid trip. This would also allow for interception by opposition forces. System jumpholes or gates can be used, a circuatous route can be taken but certain systems still will need to be transverse to log as valid (Not sure on how to monitor this bit)
  • Leaderboard for players involved - should be straightforward to log who deposits what for the reconstruction effort and then maybe also log when a pirate or hostile cashes in said commodities. Some sort of prize at end?
  • We need to build a list of systems that have things needing to be rebuilt/completed, so then we can work out a fair system of rotation. That way, one faction doesn't get unfairly favoured by having all their stuff rebuilt/repaired one after the other just because they have a more active population/membership. Once stage 2 is complete, regardless of construction win or lose, that faction is then out of the running for the next event and then so on and so forth until we work our way down the list

Obviously, this needs to be fleshed out more and buyin and advice from various admin teams will be required. However, please have a read of the above, make additional suggestions of what we could include below and provide whatever constructive feedback and support you feel comfortable with.

Thankyou, in advance, for taking the time to read through this proposal.

*as I have started in Bretonia, again, I am most familiar with their systems and surroundings, which is why I have used them as examples.
