Marshals Service Disbanded - A failed experiment?
LIBERTY
828-22-08 - Earlier today, Department of Justice spokesperson Miles Barnier and Director Isla Nazumaki announced in a joint press release the disbandment of the Liberty Marshals Service. After only seven months of active service, Liberty's federal law enforcement agency again shuts down.

Since its reactivation earlier this year, the Marshals Service has come under heavy critique both by federal lawmakers and Liberty Police Inc., Liberty's privatized police force. Again and again it was decried as a waste of taxpayer credits by the fiscally conservative and accused of being a thinly veiled attempt at appeasing liberal parties within congress, the government, and the public, clamoring for an end to the corporate-run law enforcement in Liberty.

LPI representatives welcome the decision, declaring it a victory for Liberty's law enforcers and an end to counterproductive competition between the forces. At the same time, however, experts claim that initial successes of the Marshals Service were hampered by LPI interference in a bid to undermine federal law enforcement and secure company profits.

Dr. Joseph van Roye, former attorney general, gave his opinion on the matter in an interview: "The reactivation of the Marshals Service was a clever ploy by the conservatives, whose public support has been waning for the past decades. Either the experiment of returning to a government-run law enforcement agency was a success and a victory, resulting in renewed support for the party, or it failed, proving once and for all that continued reliance on Liberty Police Inc. was the most viable policy and ensuring continued support by LPI lobbyists. Regrettably, the latter outcome has come to pass."
