To: Rheinland Ministry of Foreign Affairs || From: Bretonia - The Kingdom of Bretonia - 09-27-2021 Kingdom of Bretonia - Foreign & Commonwealth Office Her Grace The Duchess of London Good day, I am sending you this letter with deep and sincere respect, and in hope that it reaches you in good health and favourable astropolitical circumstances. We are in good health, but Bretonia is not in favourable astropolitical circumstances. Last week we reminded Gallia about the reparations that they owe us according to the Leviathan Accords, but the Gallic ministry of foreign affairs denied any responsibility for damages inflicted to Bretonia during the war and refused to pay any of the promised reparations. In response, Bretonia initiated an embargo, and we were joined by Kusari and Crayter. At this time, Rheinland is the only entity that still trades with Gallia and where a trade route with Gallia is still open. I must make this clear: Bretonia is NOT asking Rheinland to place an embargo on Gallia. We are aware that you have just fought off the Red Hessians so you could resume trade, and we send you our exuberant congratulations. We admire Rheinland's determination and we respect the Rheinland Military's glorious tradition. What I am writing you for is to make a suggestion. As I stated, the only trade route that connects Gallia with Sirius now is through Köln, or Cologne, as it is known to us. This means that, at this moment, Rheinland controls ALL trade to and from Gallia. We are aware of the level of expertise in the Rheinland Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and we believe we have not overestimated you when we assumed that you would see the potential benefit for Rheinland in this. Gallia is desperate and they will do everything to keep this route, so Rheinland can increase the tariffs on Gallic trade as high as you would like. It goes against our expectations that Gallia will increase tariffs on Rheinland trade in return, because they will strive to please you instead, but if they do threaten with this, you can count that we will stand on your side. In Her Majesty's Service,
Lady Sarah Mountbatten Her Majesty's Principal Secretary for Foreign & Colonial Affairs BRETONIA SUPRA OMNES NUNQUAM ITERUM CARINA, REGINA, IMPERATRIX
RE: To: Rheinland Ministry of Foreign Affairs || From: Bretonia - Rheinland Government - 10-02-2021 Sehr geehrte Frau Mountbatten. The Rheinland Government read your letter with great attention. Rheinland and its people understand the pain and grief left after the war with Gallia and the committed war crimes in the system of Leeds. It amuses me that you express your stance towards Gallia through this letter just by telling Rheinland to force higher trade regulations on them. Rheinland maintained a neutral position during the Gallic war and offered both houses equal trade rights. It annoys me to witness such kind of interference in our diplomacy with Gallia, however, Rheinland will not expose and exploit our friends in Gallia. In short words: Rheinland will continue to decide its own diplomatic relations. Kind regards, Lothar Friedemann Minister of Foreign Affairs RE: To: Rheinland Ministry of Foreign Affairs || From: Bretonia - The Kingdom of Bretonia - 10-02-2021 Kingdom of Bretonia - Foreign & Commonwealth Office Her Grace The Duchess of London Good day, I respect your choice, but it pains me to see that relations to Gallia are more important to Rheinland than an opportunity to improve Rheinland's own stagnating economy. It is my sincere hope that Rheinland indeed is as independent as you claim, and not an attentive listener to whatever they say on New Paris. Be well and auf wiedersehn. In Her Majesty's Service,
Lady Sarah Mountbatten Her Majesty's Principal Secretary for Foreign & Colonial Affairs BRETONIA SUPRA OMNES NUNQUAM ITERUM CARINA, REGINA, IMPERATRIX
