Blodo, guidelines for testing during 4.85 development Wrote:Ok, so apart from group fight testing, 1v1 testing takes precendence. A couple of methods to remember to test before you jump to conclusions:
  • Test a match-up three times in a row, always. Then switch ships with your partner and test it another three times. Always use RP loadouts. If a result is uncertain, try a different partner.
  • Test a ship in a "chase fight" to see how hard it is to hit when dodging around. In a chase fight the ship in question should simply dodge while the other tries to hit it.
  • Compare ship sizes to each other by positioning next to each other and taking screenshots. If you think a particular ship is too small, get a different ship, position it next to the other one and take a screenshot, then post on forums.
Try to keep to these guidelines as best as possible. Once you are done testing, post a thread on the forums with the results, mentioning the participants, results and possible fixes specifically. If you got questions, post in this thread.

And a personal request for everyone who wants to start a topic here: if you do it because you couldn't win a fight / lost a fight, try talking to the other participants as well before you post, just to make sure you didn't make any non-balance related mistakes, or tried to use a ship / weapon for something it's supposed to be bad at.

Thank you for your understanding.
