Comodo firewall and Freelancer - Metritutus - 04-08-2009

Right then, running Windows Vista Home Premium 64.

When Comodo firewall is installed, Freelancer will not join servers (that connection error occurs. I can see servers).

When it is uninstalled, I can join them.

I have reinstalled it twice, but to no avail.

If anyone here is using Comodo with Freelancer I would greatly appreciate any advice they have on getting it working.

Otherwise, it should be added to that connection guide you people have on the forums, as it took me ages to work out it was the firewall (closing it is not enough, you have to actually uninstall it).

When you goto play the game, just set your firewall to disabled. If you prefer it to STAY enabled, then do the following:

Open up Comodo
Goto the firewall tab
Click on "My Port Sets"
from the "Add" drop down, select "Add new port set
name it Freelancer
On the list, under freelancer, double click to open up the window to define the ports
Select "Port Range" and in the first box next to it, put 2302, and in the one next to it, 2304

Try that, if it don't work I will come up with a different solution for you. I am currently ingame with my firewall active on Safe Mode(uses comodo firewall)

I did try the port sets thing before, but only with 2302, so I will try reinstalling Comodo and doing this.

My firewall was always set to Safe Mode.

Also, disabling it did not work. Neither did closing it (as it appears to leave processes running, I can see them with the Task Manager but cannot end them).

Ok....try getting the new one, if you havent already, and install it(after completly uninstalling the old one) When you run freelancer the box should pop up on your right, well....when you alt-tab out of the game. Select "Treat as.." and in the drop down, "Trusted application". It could be that its popping up, but you stay ingame and don't notice it, and when you exit the game, it goes away

It was not that. I could see servers. It had full access to the internet. I also added it as a trusted application.

Try disabling "Defense +" (or just not installing that component). I use Comodo with no problems, I didn't even need to open the ports. Make sure windows firewall is off, because that can interfere with Comodo, and the two together may cause a problem.

Windows firewall was off (the service was actually disabled by me).

Defense Plus was not installed.

Are you running Windows Vista? Or Windows Vista 64?

If not, I suspect this may be an issue with Vista and Comodo with Freelancer.

I have seen you before, so then what did you recently do that was different?

Comodo firewall and Freelancer - Turkish - 04-09-2009

Have you made sure that Comodo isn't disallowing network connections to Freelancer?

To be honest: I think it's your installation of Freelancer that has gone awry. Commodo and Freelancer play nicely on my PC - just try a re-install of FLMM, Freelancer, and a fresh copy of Disco and Commodo.
