Sounds good so far. Actually no, dont use the more current version of FLMM, use the older one, the new one is bugged.

FLMM 1.31 is the Mod Manager you want.

Just read these tutorials here:

Uh i looked in all those not all pages but a few per topic and didn't see the Discovery Mod link.

So i downloaded the 48.54 one of the homepage.

BTW which global server workaround works with the new 4.854 version beta 3?

ps. i just did the direct connect and the game came up with the server but the Discovery Freelance is version 48.154

where do i get this

No, no no.

The links that Virus gave you are to the proper version of FLMM (Freelancer Mod manager) to use. The newest version of it, the version you have, is glitched and thus doesn't work so well.

From what you've said, you have the proper version of the mod downloaded. Do not use 4.84. That's the old version. Only use it if you really want to play the singleplayer campaign.

The newest version of Discovery comes with a built-in global server workaround. By running it using DSUpdate.exe, a file in your EXE folder of Freelancer (.../Freelancer/EXE), it will check for Disco updates, then execute Freelancer. It has a built-in direct connect to the US 24/7 server and the official Discovery Server.

Ok i clicked the Discovery Freelancer.exe file which downloaded and installed the new update1 file. after it is done and starts the game. the page goes to the first page with the word Freelancer across middle then minimizes. i wait forever but nothing happens.

Delete auto save? If that dosent work, you may have to reinstall.

Steps for getting online - Rashnok - 04-13-2009

Yeah, that's a CTD. Use the "Delete Autosave" function in FLMM. I don't remember where it is exactly, but it ought to be easy enough to find. If that doesn't work, well, reinstall is your next best bet. Once you do get FL running, be sure to turn off 3D audio too. It only breaks things.

Yeah, TURN OFF 3D SOUND. I played through the whole campaign with it, losing my file many time, when finally someone on the server noticed my crashing and told me. I found out the hard way, you could say.
