INCOMING TRANSMISSION
COMM-ID: Terrance Smith
Sales & Marketing Team,
I was out in the Emergency Response vessel in Tau-31, returning after a call-out to deliver a round of urgently required custom pharmaceuticals from Syracuse to New London.
I came across a Freelancer, one of the "Starfliers". We got to chatting for a bit, since I wasn't on duty at the time. He mentioned that they suffer radiation poisoning, from living in Kepler.
The med-team on board the vessel assured me that this is treatable and the research team on board says we produce the necessary drugs already. I kinda knew this though, as I have suffered from radiation poisoning in the past.
Anyway, I acted as you instructed. I said I'd speak to you and that you would contact them to arrange a deal. I promised them nothing except that we could deliver and that you and their boss would work out the details. Seems they do not have the Gallic implants so will need both the drugs and the Med Stasis Bands.
I tried to supply the drugs and a band to this one pilot, but they had no space. They really pack their vessels full of equipment, I'll say.
Terrance Smith,
Emergency Response and Logistics Team

[07.01.2022 10:48:23] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Cryer? Good day, captain.
[07.01.2022 10:48:33] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Freelancer. Everything going ok?
[07.01.2022 10:48:51] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Same old stuff, nothing happening.
[07.01.2022 10:49:03] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Got half a mind to ask for company.
[07.01.2022 10:49:21] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Where you headed? I haven't got a call-out at the moment.
[07.01.2022 10:49:39] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Coronado, then Inverness.
[07.01.2022 10:50:33] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Does Cryer have a strong medical background or something?
[07.01.2022 10:50:33] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Hmm. You know of any incidents out there? My job is to respond to emergencies and supply aid, or assistance.
[07.01.2022 10:50:58] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: None, just flying around. Don't really have a goal in mind.
[07.01.2022 10:51:26] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Cryer Pharmaceuticals has a very strong medical background. But people forget we're still out there.
[07.01.2022 10:51:57] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Hmm, I'll relay your ship to my superior. He may need your assistance.
[07.01.2022 10:52:34] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: You have injured? Or need supplies? We can obtain non-urgent supplies as well as emergency response.
[07.01.2022 10:52:53] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Radiation treatment?
[07.01.2022 10:53:39] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Radiation? That's serious. I won't ask too many questions, but I can respond. What's their status?
[07.01.2022 10:53:51] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Us Starfliers need it, not on a regular basis. But we need it.
[07.01.2022 10:54:14] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: If you're able to drop off some radiation medication to Ames in Kepler, that'd be fantastic.
[07.01.2022 10:54:22] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Oh, low level radiation treatment?
[07.01.2022 10:54:50] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: How high is "we live in Kepler and need it" ?
[07.01.2022 10:55:15] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Kepler is severe, but still counts as low-level as long as you guys aren't trying space-walking.
[07.01.2022 10:55:34] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: So as long as we're in our cockpits, we're good? Somehow I don't believe you.
[07.01.2022 10:55:36] Moonmoth: Oh, hello people.
[07.01.2022 10:55:47] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: That's what shielding is for. It should stop most of it. Hello Moonmoth.
[07.01.2022 10:55:56] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Good day, pilot.
[07.01.2022 10:55:58] Moonmoth: Am I interrupting anything?
[07.01.2022 10:56:02] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: No. Not good in the cockpits.
[07.01.2022 10:56:12] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Huh, well this Molecular-grade shield should do fine I guess.
[07.01.2022 10:56:15] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: But reduced. You're right, you still need treatment.
[07.01.2022 10:56:35] Moonmoth: I'll er....leave you to your business, I suppose.
[07.01.2022 10:56:39] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Just having a chat about radiation treatment, Moonmoth.
[07.01.2022 10:56:51] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Godspeed.
[07.01.2022 10:57:00] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: The difference is between "Will die in hours" and "will die in months". Also in how treatable it is.
[07.01.2022 10:57:00] Moonmoth: Stay safe and away from radiation!
[07.01.2022 10:57:29] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well we've spent about 6 months living in Kepler.
[07.01.2022 10:57:38] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Probably worth looking into.
[07.01.2022 10:57:45] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: That's bad for your health. We can definitely supply radiation drugs.
[07.01.2022 10:58:12] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: We'll contact you specifically. Will that be a problem?
[07.01.2022 10:58:22] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: I'll have my boss contact your boss and see if we can set up a regular shipment for you. What's your population?
[07.01.2022 10:58:44] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Around 800 or so. Designation of our home is Starflier Base.
[07.01.2022 10:59:21] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: I have been through Kepler, but I don't remember seeing your base specifically. Where is it located in Kepler?
[07.01.2022 10:59:48] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Very close to Ames. It's a giant circular establishment.
[07.01.2022 11:00:25] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Oh, THAT is your base?
[07.01.2022 11:00:43] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: That's where I live, yes.
[07.01.2022 11:00:58] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: When I'm not charting systems and such.
[07.01.2022 11:01:23] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: I was on call-out and did not close in. Did you want me to run any tests on you now? Have you been nauseous at all lately?
[07.01.2022 11:01:57] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Suppose it won't hurt. I give you the green light to do so.
[07.01.2022 11:02:48] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Only naueous when I switch coolant fuel for my engines. Otherwise no.
[07.01.2022 11:04:33] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Hmm... Remote scan says you're oh yeah... Your whole ship is radioactive, not life-threatening in the short-term.
[07.01.2022 11:05:07] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Tell me something I don't know. This ship has been through many radioactive fields.
[07.01.2022 11:05:46] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: I have limited supplies of radiation drugs on board. But I can supply you with what I have. It's only enough for you though.
[07.01.2022 11:06:05] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: What symptoms should I be looking for before I head into a clinic?
[07.01.2022 11:06:17] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Unfortunately I don't have the space for any drugs.
[07.01.2022 11:06:42] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Nausea, abnormal growths, joint pain, headaches that won't go away.
[07.01.2022 11:07:20] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: My knees buckle and sometimes spike with pain when I initiate cruise.
[07.01.2022 11:07:46] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Though nothing else, I'll keep this in mind.
[07.01.2022 11:08:19] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: I'm not taking no for an answer. Take what I am giving you and if your boss doesn't hear from mine soon? Initiate first contact
[07.01.2022 11:08:40] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I'm telling you, I have no space.
[07.01.2022 11:08:56] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: I see. You weren't wrong.
[07.01.2022 11:09:26] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I usually take my treatment at home and hope it lasts during my flights.
[07.01.2022 11:09:53] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Hmm... I can't dock you either. We can go to planet Harris. But I will escalate the issue internally.
[07.01.2022 11:10:26] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Are you guys implanted, or do you use medstasis bands?
[07.01.2022 11:10:53] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I'll continue my flight to Inverness. But we will contact you.
[07.01.2022 11:11:19] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: We're just normal pilots. No implants or whatever.
[07.01.2022 11:12:14] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: I'll make sure our guys put aside some bands and drugs for you. We can lend a medical team to check you over as well.
[07.01.2022 11:12:22] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Our bosses will work out the details.
[07.01.2022 11:12:32] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Sounds like a good plan.
[07.01.2022 11:12:57] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: If your boss sends a message, direct it to the "Starfliers"
[07.01.2022 11:13:40] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: On the plus side, you aren't going to die from the radiation in the next month or so.
[07.01.2022 11:13:54] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: *chuckles* Well that's good news.
[07.01.2022 11:13:59] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: So take it easy and good luck with your... Mapping, was it?
[07.01.2022 11:14:13] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Cartography, yes.
[07.01.2022 11:14:23] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: My name is Halpert Kennedy, yours?
[07.01.2022 11:15:19] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: My name is Terrance Smith. I'm actually just a pilot, myself. Ex-Freelancer.
[07.01.2022 11:15:36] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: But I have a med-team in here and they tell me what I need to know.
[07.01.2022 11:15:56] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Ah, well. Godspeed on your medical emergencies, Terrance.
[07.01.2022 11:16:31] +Cryer+ER.Penicillin: Same to you and your mapping Halpert. Let me know if you find a colony in need out there. I'll buy the info from you.
[07.01.2022 11:16:50] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Interesting, I'll keep that in mind.

As per our discussions with the Corsair Empire, I recieved my order of hauling 20.000 units of Food Rations to Planet Crete. A job that couldn't get easier than this.
I started by contacting our local food supplier on planet Cambridge and requested 20.000 units of top quality food, same that our scientists on board Cambridge Research Station recieve. After all, our Corsair friends are equally important as them. And so a waiting game began, waiting for the hold to be loaded. I used this time to put together a flight plan, a total of 4 trips were required to haul the entire food. Route was set, all that was missing was the cargo.
After a long wait, I mean long because I had no liquor close, the loading operations were completed so off I was. Short trip, a merely 3 systems away, piece of cake. Good thing t'was that short, imagine the trip from Atka to Manhattan without liquor. I'd rather stay 5 years on Huntsville than this.
First jump was Omega-5, supposedly a battlezone between Corsairs and Red Hessians but the latter wasn't to be seen, only that they forgot a lot of wrecks around. Can be tricky to maneuver a supertransport through them. Maybe the Junkers can find interest in their wrecks, but if they're not here already I guess scrap worths more than those piles of junk. They were worthless even before becoming wrecks, same as their pilots.
Next jump was Omega-41. T'was here that I had a revelation. Seeing the Neutron Star, I was angry on myself for not boarding couple of sightseers on board. I could make an extra tip as Cryers wages are s*hit. I demand a raise after this, else I'll join Orbital Spa & Cruise.
Next jump was the final destination, Omicron Gamma, the Empires core system. I think they reffer to it as Sparta. Makes sense, can't fly around more than 10 seconds without getting blown up. Planet Crete was just in sight after I got clear of the Gredos cloud. Unloading was smooth. 3 more runs to go.
Can't say anything more specific of the remaining 3 runs, only that each time I was passing by the Neutron Star I was thinking what wage would keep me from not resigning to join Orbital Spa & Cruise. I'll let the Financial Department to think about this, but keep in mind, you only have one shot on this.

Research Team,
I was making a delivery to Luxury Liner Shetland in Poole, when I found something of interest. A merchant on the ship was selling an assortment of "Medicinal Elixirs" that they claimed had a variety of health benefits. Now, I'm no fool and I don't work for the biggest pharmaceutical company in Sirius for nothing.
I am 90% certain that these "elixirs" are mostly snake oil and sugar water. Maybe with some vitamins added to fool the gullible.
However, I remembered how the Kusari people swear black and blue over their weird medicines, also how one of the med team on the Emergency Response vessel said that some of those medicines actually work.
So, I bought a selection of everything the merchant had and have delivered it to our low-security, planet-side research facility on Planet Manhattan. Analysing all of them could be a task that will keep the research interns harmlessly busy. Plus, who knows, one of these bottles might actually turn out to be of use. Some of these things claim to be made of some pretty exotic ingredients.

Sales & Marketing Team,
I have completed the assessment of the crew at the Starflier Base, as requested by Sales & Marketing.
The response from the other party was positive and cooperative.
The results were not healthy.
What they need is Doctors, Med-Stasis Bands and Radomin™. See the attached report for details. The bit you are interested in, is at the bottom.
Now it's up to you guys to determine whether they can afford this.
If they are struggling, we can always offer them a deal on our old product, Raderase™. I know we discontinued it due to public outcry after the side effects became apparent, but we have a large supply in our warehouse that we haven't managed to offload and it still works.
Just so long as there are no Cardamine addicts, people with damaged livers or kidneys, or anyone that is immune-compromised in the crew, we don't want to be responsible for deaths.
As a last resort, we have our typical off the shelf and popular product Guardexa™. This won't improve their situation at all, but will at least help prevent things getting worse too quickly. It's also the cheapest option we have.

Report of Background Radiation in Kepler and its effects on the Starflier Organisation
By Terrance Smith
I was despatched today to investigate the radiation situation that the Starfliers are suffering. I originally reported this to your team some time ago, but after the Gaian attacks on Planet Gaia and the destruction of our annex at Atka, my ability to provide the in depth report you have requested has been delayed.
I left Atka, where I had been stationed in case of further terrorist attacks and proceeded through Kusari space to Kepler. The journey was uneventful with no-one stopping me.
Staff at Atka had ensured that we the correct equipment for investigating radiation, which immediately lit up as soon as we jumped into Kepler. We quickly realized that the levels of background radiation are more than strong enough to penetrate standard spacecraft shielding. Our computer warned us of system degradation should we remain in the system for too long.
The onboard research corp immediately began measuring the quantity of radiation that was penetrating the shielding, it was determined to have no short-term ill effects to humans. Also the mild dose of radiation would fade some time after leaving the system. However, the research corp warned that this was only the short-term effects and that in the long term, major damage could be accrued over time.
We arrived safely at the Starflier Base, we were greeted by members of the resident base crew. Reception was friendly enough, the crew were aware that there had been communication between our two groups, I asked after Leon Vicci, but he was apparently unavailable at the time. The hanger was quite empty, with all the Starflier pilots seeming to be out doing whatever they normally do.
The Crew thought that we would deliver a load of generic medicine. They actually seemed disappointed that my craft was only equipped for limited supply and assessment.
Once I explained that an assessment was needed to ensure that we supplied the right drugs to suit their circumstances, the response was quick as they set up orderly queues for testing the resident crew members. Due to their absence, we were unable to test how the radiation has effected the pilots and leadership of the Starfliers.
The results weren't particularly good. Several of the Starflier crew have mild radiation sickness, while radiation levels in others have increased to such an extent that they are at risk of developing the sickness. Minor DNA breakdown has been observed in some subjects, this drastically increases their risk of cancer or other life-threatening diseases.
Given the radiation can penetrate the thick, shielded hull of our Scarab, there is no doubt that the shielding of the Starflier base is also being penetrated.
While the medical team checked the crew, the research corp checked the publically avaliable sections of the base. There is definitely radiation penetrating inside the base, with the reported levels being roughly the same everywhere they were allowed to check.
While we did provide immediate treatment for those members of the crew that are already suffering radiation sickness, we were not carrying enough medication or med statis bands for the whole crew. Let alone, the pilots who are out working.
The recommendations from my medical crew are as follows:- Provide a permanent medical team, there is only one doctor on board this base and they were one of the members with radiation sickness.
- Provide a year's supply of Med-Stasis Bands. These will allow for faster monitoring of vital signs without requiring the special equipment and facilities that we at Cryer have access to.
- Manufacture and supply a large quantity of our special high-strength anti-radiation medication, Radomin™. This product can reduce radiation levels in the body, boost the immune system and has minimal side-effects compared to other products on the market. This medicine is not cheap, nor is it something we usually keep a large supply of, but our usual off the shelf solutions are only preventative. The situation has progressed too far for mere preventative measures to correct the situation.

Research and Logistics Teams,
As per recent contract with our clients, I've deployed my personal research team to Freeport 1 in the Omega-3 system to examine a rare radiation sickness that got onto the Starfliers from Kepler. I must say that in all my career I've never seen anything like it! The symptoms are rather unique, and I'm still unsure what to make of it.
Our patient zero, Mr. Halpert Kennedy, is experiencing purple rash all over his body and his skin has grown some kind of green pox that vaguely resembles acne. Normally, radiation sickness causes a regular red rash, but this is something new. I'd like to name it the "Kepler Rash", at least for the time being before we manage to find it a better, more scientific name that defines the disease properly. We tried to treat it with Radomin, but the effects were only temporary.
Mr. Smith, you reported a while ago that you've acquired a bunch of "Elixirs" from Bretonia. Normally, I would immediately go ahead and dismiss this as a fraud, but at this rate we need to find a cure before the Starfliers start losing lives. If we still have those stored in our facility on Manhattan, I'd like you to bring them over to Freeport 1 for my team to examine them. Who knows, we might discover something that'll help the poor Starfliers with their yet undocumented disease.
In case we no longer have them around, please go and buy the same assortment as you did before. And please do hurry, we don't have much time to waste.

Sir Bucksworth.
I feel it it best to inform you of recent events.
As you aware, after the last debacle, our production of Stabiline at Atka has been severely impacted. Because of this, we in Logisitcs felt it was more cost effective to wait until we had enough stock to warrant a large transport, rather than pay the increased cost of sending multiple freighters.
As you know, we have historically had a lucrative agreement with the Liberty Government to provide Stabiline to the LPI Huntsville, in order to help control the cardamine addicted prisoners.
Unfortunately, this contract with the Liberty government appears to have expired.
When we made the delivery, the guards were both pleased, but confused. Apparently the high levels of bureaucracy in the government means that no-one actually bothered to reach out to us. We were paid for the cargo, of course, but the payment, though profitable, was far below it's former levels.
The guards intimated that they would appreciate if we could continue deliveries, as the prisoners have been smuggling cardamine from other sources. However, given the current slow speed of production and the reduced level of financial gain, I thought I would check back with you to see if you had any instructions.

Dear Terry,
Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention! Good to know I can count on you to assess the situation.
It looks like I'll have to query Liberty Police Inc. for a contract renewal, as it seems Stabiline is still in high demand for their prisons.
If you are looking to keep your route based on Atka, I'll remind you that we still have a contract with the Union Corse to ship Synthetic Marijuana to Planet Marseille. They will pay you the Gallic equivalent of an extra 2575 Sirius Credits for each package shipped.
As a side note, Planet Marseille appears to also be a major exporter of the popular Gallic drug, Nox. You've probably heard already that our new prime board member, Mr. Queen, wants to conduct research and see how we can make the equivalent of Stabiline for that.
I shall remind you that carrying Nox is illegal in most houses as of this message. In no way am I suggesting you should "smuggle" it into our labs, but try to think of creative ways through which we can get a sample size for research.
