Lost and damned - Battlegroup Veracruz - 02-22-2022

PART I: Beautiful soul of a cruel man

CHAPTER I

Silence... For 2 hours this silent space void surrounded a group of fighters and their brave pilots, as well as the Liberty cruiser, which was squad-flagship located at a distance and acted as an emergency cover. Perhaps the only thing that interrupted the general tension was brief negotiations related to checking the status of the ships standing opposite the cloud. The crackle of the radio was almost inaudible.

And then... Flash. Two. Three. Interweaving of green and red flowers. All this was inside a cloud and slowly but surely became brighter. Suddenly, a bright orange flash.

"This is Fox-three, can anyone hear me?!"
"This is Liberty Cruiser "Alcatraz". We hear you!"
"Get ready to receive me! Tail behind me."
"How many?"
"Three, three! It's the f*cking Valkyries!"

All ships grouped in a defensive formation. A blazing Defender flew out of the cloud, followed by three Valkyries. Suddenly, another one capital ship appeared right next to the flagship-cruiser. A Rheinland one. And after - other forces of the "Green Republic" from all sides. They popped up out of nowhere.

Another battle of Romeo and Sierra squads began.

CHAPTER II

"Take it please!"
"Why do I need your papers?"
"Is it worth to you? C'mon!"

Two 15 years old teenagers stood on street of one of the cities of planet Los Angeles, doing a not very profitable, but not for them: distributing leaflets. The idea to earn moneys did not come to mind right away, but for one reason only: they were new at their school and made friends with two girls, and therefore wanted to please them. Both guys came from different schools, and when they got into this class, they didn’t know each other well, but still found a common language.

The employer was honest: at least that's what it said on the website, where every company could find workers of any category. Liberty Police followed all applications and, based on their own investigations and assessments of other employees, set the final score. The choice of the guys fell on a pizzeria, which was located on the outskirts of the city, but enjoyed success among the inhabitants of this area: no one wanted to go to the city center for a treat, and when it was at hand and in addition to food, it had good staff who were always provided with money.. How can you not give a good mark here?

In addition, one of them thought such work was "humiliating", but what can you do: money is needed, so something needs to be done. A young 15-year-old brunette with slicked back hair believed that the farther he worked from the city center, the less likely it was that their classmates would show up here and “make fun” of him. The reputation of the "future school star" cannot be spoiled by selling leaflets! But for now, this star should get some money... And here is another "client": a passer-by, a fat middle-aged man, it seems he is in a hurry to go to work, or vice versa - he goes home after a night shift. You can’t tell from it, because it’s 12 noon on the clock.

"Please take a discount in our pizzeria..." - he said uncertainly, to which he received a complete disregard from a potential client.
"You're just afraid of this job, Alex!" - noticed his friend. He was a little shorter, blond. Working with leaflets did not frighten him, he wanted money and was a hard-working person: where he "got out" with his parents, it was simply necessary to work. - "Just be more confident: leaflets will not kill you. Look," - he said, and then he approached to one of the passers-by and offered a leaflet. He calmly took it and moved on. - "See?"
"Jim, hell, what if classmates see us?" - Alex asked. - "What will they think of us?"
"What difference does it make to you? If the girls find out about this, then we will say that it was all for their sake, and they will be proud of us! In addition, we have worked for a whole month, and tomorrow you will not have to go anywhere."
"I don't know... You're probably right."
"Relax, we have 4 more hours of work, and then we'll go home."

By a happy coincidence, Jim and Alex lived very close to each other. Alex was a native of this city, but Jim... A simple native of a small town, which could not boast of anything remarkable, except for a high crime rate (which was surprising for Los Angeles). If Alex's parents transferred their child to a "better" school, then Jim's parents threw the last funds to move in this city and into his education: it was very responsible, for 15 years-old guy, because Jim's money also affects the lives of his only relatives - mom and dad.

4 hours passed, and ten minutes later, with a couple of credits in hand, two teenagers went home satisfied: with this money they could buy everything they wanted in order to "win" the girls' hearts. One of them wanted a lava-lamp for a long time, and the second one broke good sunglasses, which she loved very much. The guys bought "gifts" at the local store. Alex spent the rest of the money on a couple of goodies and shared with his friend, and Jim put it in his pocket: maybe his parents will need it. They decided to give all gifts to their girlfriends on the next day.
