LIVING OFF SCRAPS IN THE OMICRONS

Vincent had originally started off his adventures in 826 A.S; aspiring to become a well known Mercenary with a good reputation within the Outer Worlds. It was a dream he wished to turn reality from the very beginning. He set off at first with a Falcon. From Bretonia to Liberty and from there to the Omicrons he quickly realized how hard and unforgiving the occupation he chose to follow was in conjunction with his complete lack for combat. Living off crappy jobs for approximately two months such as being an escort for a convoy and taking down so called "pirates" that were often worse than him in terms of combat. His profession as a Mercenary ended after he got a taste of what living in the Omicrons really is like. Treachery hidden behind every corner after he nearly took a contract from a Cultist, which would've branded him as someone who cooperates with The Nomads. That Cultist belonged to The Commune.

NEW SHIP - NEW ADVENTURE

Three weeks after leaving the Omicrons, his Falcon began to perform poorly. So poorly, that it was a risk to fly it in the first place. He spent another three days Sigma-15 back when Rheinland had barely any influence in the System. With the scrap money he earned from the jobs in the Omicrons and his now pawned-off Falcon he bought a Dagger. Second-Hand, slightly rusty between plates and with a refurbished APM engine, the Dagger might've been one of the worst choices to take in situations like these. Vincent made peace with it and kept on. He heard of a young cryptology hobbyist on Holman who has been looking for civilians to investigate the matter. There was little left to do in the Sigmas, so he spent the remaining credits on fuel, reserves and some junk food to hold off the hunger.

It took roughly two more days to reach Tau-31 where he joined forces with Team Six. It was an adventure that took him at the ones he went off with through numerous Systems, which then led up to what many have come to call it "The Dyson Sphere". The Nomads' greatest creation, supposedly. Vincent would have succumbed to the unfortunate effects of being blasted by dozens of Nomads - big and small in size - in an attempt to escape with samples from a hideout called "The Pillar Man", were it not for a continuous streak of plain luck that got him out. Benefits of surviving such an ordeal with proof of it would start off another adventure years later in an unlikely encounter with a mad man in a Camara and a woman flying a Hawfinch.

VOLATILE SITUATION IN KEPLER

After two years of being a mere nomad - wandering from place to place with the samples he had gathered Vincent eventually ended up in Liberty. A lot of things had happened since. It all started off with a man called John Silverstone which introduced him to Raven - a high ranking Technocrat. Things progressed for the better or for the worse as time went on. Vincent aligned with the Xeno Alliance in Hudson for protection and support. Partnered with Raven in discovering what lies beyond the Anomaly in Kepler. And has begun a volatile collaboration with The Order's "Section 8". Over the course of one year the Anomaly has evolved with and without Vincent's intervention. He has been branded as "The Key" by multiple entities such as an Ancient Nomad being only known as "The Harbinger", The Mainshare and the Vagrants. This played a major role in Vincent's supposed undoing.

During this year, Vincent has discovered many proprieties of the Anomaly he came to call "The Prophet". How it leads to unexplored regions - and how it led him to the focus of his research: an Unknown Alien Gate within the ravaged Alberta System. How the so called Sentinels would sense him each time he'd use the Prophet by means unknown even to himself.

UNEXPECTED BETRAYAL

It came to a surprise that after so many trips in and out of the Prophet Anomaly in Kepler and near-death experiences against the Nomads where numerous witnesses or were part of at some point in their lives, that he would be attacked The Order. Vincent knew for a while that the secretive Section 8 would eventually take a shot at his life. However, he wouldn't have expected that Damien - the leading figure of the Xeno Alliance - would assist in that.

It was the closest he had gotten to being truly dead. Crippled and bleeding out from severe wounds, he had many regrets from not doing things the way he should've out of cowardice or mere stupidity. Instead of dying like the hero he hoped to become, he ended up like a discarded piece of trash to be forgotten in the void. He was left with the thought that those close to him would've done the same, yetThe Xenos were simply the first to do so.

WITHERING THOUGHTS

Death comes in all shapes and forms. Vincent died the moment a mine had detonated behind his ship as he struggled to fend off both The Order and The Xenos. A futile struggle which left him bleeding out in an escape pod ejected several kilometers away from his home. What came to follow was nothing short of a miracle. Not too long after, an Auxo Cruiser had arrived, inspecting the scene before stumbling upon the scientist's withering body that was left to rot in a damaged escape pod. Weeks turned into months of being stuck to the operating table. Cybernetics were stuck hastily to his own flesh, leaving Vincent to feel like a guinea pig no less. He could only use the same time to reflect upon himself.

While the body was being mended, the mind had begun to wither away. The trauma of being betrayed without ever knowing the true reasoning behind it and having to watch himself being no longer a simple human, but now part machine too, was crippling. Eventually all that made Vincent be himself had died. Memories were cut away, surgically replaced by others. A second life he never had now made reality. A mercenary, just as he once wished to be.

Caliban emerged in the wake of chaos caused by thoughts which plagued his mind. Yet he would not be aware of the lie he was living in until Raven had crippled his body a second time. A high enough dose of radiation from the bowels of Alberta which should have been the end of it. Instead he was given a slow death. A constant struggle to live despite wanting to die.

Months passed. Whenever a piece of himself was too sick to continue, he'd replace it with a cybernetic variant. Madness kept building up as he saw machinery take over his meatsuit. Patches of synthetic skin, crude cybernetic augmentations, second-grade organs. None of it would help. The cold hand of Death still rested upon his shoulder.

HIGH OR LOW - A MERC ENDURES

This new version of Vincent was nothing more than a psychopath rendered borderline insane by the abuse of mind-numbing that were supposed to help his body cope with the constant cybernetic enhancements ravaging a sick body. With no regard to human life or those he previously considered as 'friends', Vincent used every bit of advantage he could against both The Order and The Technocracy.

Morality was a mere afterthought as more deals were made to ensure the merc's survival. His reputation as a violent, yet reliable solution to every conflict came into the eyes of many. The same reputation has warranted him respect from both Core and Maltese elite members - allies who played an instrumental role later.

One contract led to another, and Vincent would wind up kidnapping the Director of Bretonia's Secret Intelligence Office (Victor Steiner, SIS), become a rival to Raven and often a thorn in her plans, reconcile with the Alliance's Commander - Damien Moretti, and rekindle an old friendship with 'Viper' - The Buro's Direktor at the time. His name and reputation would spread throughout Sirius followed by stories highlighting him as both a terrorist with no soul who uses money as a justifiable excuse for his crimes, as well as a mercenary with a heart of gold. In truth, both variants are true and not. The real 'Vincent' is a mix of both, seeing the whole word as grey rather than black and white.
