RE: Can't login to the server - Galaxian - 04-30-2022

This happens a lot on unstable connections.
I would try restarting my Modem/Router,
checking QoS (quality of service) using my router's settings page,
or a speedtest website.

I'd also check any ethernet cables.
They could be slightly loose or damaged.

The thing is you can see the server and characters
So that means it is not a modem problem
Like I said you might be IP banned

RE: Can't login to the server - 13CentKiller - 04-30-2022

Log in to your router and check UPnP is enabled. If it is, you may need to do something called "port forwarding". It's necessary for a lot of old games. Here are some things you will need to look up

- Setting a static IP for your computer
- Port Forwarding (you need to forward UDP port range 2300-2400 to your new static IP)

Let me know if you are still having trouble. Happy to provide remote support.

Depending on your router, it may be under "Virtual Server" settings in the software. More than likely any Port Forwarding configuration will be under the WAN settings and not the WiFi.

What model router are you using? Is it a Modem/Router combo that's provided by your ISP? Or are you utilizing a Modem and Router separately? If the former you may not have complete access to your settings.

EDIT: Reading more into your posts, it appears your router is the culprit considering it was fine before you replaced it. If you can provide the model, I can look into a bit and see if I can help you out. I'm always on-board for a Network puzzle.

Thank you, not sure how to figure this out. The router is Zyxel VMG3312-T20A.

I will try, but the connection looks fast and stable.

Not sure why would I get IP banned, would any of the admins be able to check this?

My router config says WPS is disabled therefore UPnP is disabled as well, should I enable this?

UPnP allows for ports to forward themselves when required and close them once no longer needed. Im not sure if it will work in this particular instance, but you should try enabling it.

With UPnP off, you'd need to forward the ports manually. The other thing you can try is working out which port on your router is the DMZ port and enabling DMZ mode temporarily on the router to rule out firewall issues.

Your old router may have let your freelancer traffic through via UPnP without your input.

Thank you for another suggestions! Tried this and still nothing:

I could try port forwarding but i don't know how figure out what ports/address

RE: Can't login to the server - Leo - 05-02-2022

*Most* of the time you don't need to port forward services these days because a lot of the times the router will automatically do it, as 13CentKiller said. This is to keep normal end users (like yourself) from needing to do configurations on a network device. Port Forwarding is normally only used for it other users need to access something on your network from outside, I.E. if you're hosting a server for a game. However, I'll link you a couple of resources to help you with port forwarding to test. Both of these links are from the manual from your router:

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1266078/Zyxel-Communications-Vmg3312-T20a.html?page=164#manual
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1266078/Zyxel-Communications-Vmg3312-T20a.html?page=166#manual

These are two pages from the manual for your router. One explains Port Forwarding to you, and the other will show you how to do it on your device. Additionally, here is a link for a step by step:

https://mysupport.zyxel.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005557959--CPE-How-to-configure-port-forwarding-NAT-on-the-VMG-series

If this doesn't work something you can test is, if you still have your old router and it works, is plug it back in, and then try to connect to the server. If you can connect, you know for a fact that it's your device. If it still doesn't then you'd need to look elsewhere. However, if you're connecting via Mobile but not Router when it worked with your old device as you described, it sounds like your new router is blocking the connection somehow.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Additionally, you can try this too: https://www.whatsmyip.org/port-scanner/ or https://whatismyip.com/port-scanner/ (I recommend the second because you can plugin the server IP as well to test). I've never used it but you can give it a go and see. Check port 2302, it's usually what Microsoft uses for their online games (Halo uses this port too) but usually people just open 2300-2400. I, myself, only open the ports I absolutely need but that's your call. Lastly, I'm not sure if the admins changed the port number Discovery uses or if it's still default, they'd be able to answer that.

I think the port forwarding may be done incorrectly. From memory, internal and external ports are the same.

Make sure you disable the DMZ on your router, as leaving it open can cause issues on its own.

I can offer remote help if you like. Send me a PM with your Discord handle and we'll find a time to sort it out. I think Leo has offered the same.

Cheers! Smile

Thank you both again for all your help. I will try your suggestions and I will let you know. Who would say that it will be such a problem Big Grin

RE: Can't login to the server - Kane182new - 05-06-2022

Hey, tried everything and still can't login. I don't have the old router so I cannot test it. But I am able to play online other games without any problems.

https://i.ibb.co/VQKFBbr/port-forwarding.png
https://i.ibb.co/PQMx6Sx/ports.png

Still only able to login via mobile data, which sucks Big Grin I would really appreciete if any of the admins could look into this, but could I be IP banned if I see the characters screen and it only won't let me login after that.

(I will try to install FL and DC on my other laptop this weekend and will see if it's the same issue)
