The Capture of the Razor
Drake Thastus led a decent sized fighter wing on a mission, to capture a corsair gunboat. Normally the diplomatic relations between the Hellfire Legion and the Corsairs were good but when two weeks prior a diplomatic group asked for a gunboat from the Corsairs they were denied. Even at the promise of payment and riches they denied, the pirates were unwilling to give them a gunboat.
So it became time to take one from them, the HF had lost many battles because of no support for their fighters and they desperately needed something to help turn the tides in the war against liberty.
HF intelligence ascertained over the weeks that two Corsair gunboats and escorts would be here 50k outside of Crete in omicron Gamma headed to the Omicron theta Jumphole.
Drake held onto the flight controls carefully monitoring his sensors, eight other heavily armed fighters cruised with him and two cruisers two kilometers behind. Drakes radar lit up a signal a small Corsair group two Gunboats were in the group. One the Razor and the other the Scythe, eight Titan fighters escorted them each well armed and aces flying the fighters.
Be ready for anything, there could a dozen or more fighters nearby, we need to hold out until the Balistner comes with a boarding party. Drake said, his voice crackled through the comm net. The two cruiser flying support, were both liberty cruisers, the VultureOfDeath and the Renegade each extremely well armed.
Drake kept his focus as the Corsairs quickly got closer at the speed he was going it seemed that he was not moving but that space was pushing two Corsair gunboats into his face. He scanned again; his wing was 4k away from the gunboats. The Corsairs now had them in sensor range.
Drakes console lit up he was being hailed by the Corsair gunboat, he did not respond he primed his weapons and locked into the first Corsair titan. Drake was flying a Talon Very Heavy fighter; he bought one from the Order a long time before. His Talon carried several nomad weapons and a pair of Outcast Cerberus Cannons and one inferno heavy shield buster.
Drake slammed on his engine kill his talon was moving 350K per hour he opened fire on the first, his inferno slammed into the unsuspecting fighter followed by a punishing stream of fire from his cannons. Taking it out quickly, two more Corsair fighters were caught off guard by the rest of the group. An intense dogfight broke out between the two forces.
The Renegade and the Vulture intervened striking down the rest of the fighters; the Corsair Gunboats shot down four HF fighters and damaged Drakes badly. But the sight of the two cruisers and the sight of a dreadnought out in the distance compelled them to stop shooting. The Balistner was 10k out from there with a stolen transport loaded with men.
We may have won this battle but keep up your guard. Drake ordered, a tone of worry offset his confidence.
Sensors aboard the Renegade began screaming, five Corsair Osiris and four wings of ten Titans were flying in and at 10k out. Drake was left with a decision, his ship rocked red lasers were beating his shield the gunboat Scythe was reopening fire. Renegade open fire on the Scythe.
The Renegade loosed one powerful blast from its massive forward gun permanently silencing the Scythe.
The Corsair ships were not arriving together as most would expect the fact of the matter was, the Corsairs had their fleet on patrol throughout Gamma. Normally a dreadnought would have been assigned to quell this uprising but a week earlier an Outcast attack on Gamma damaged it and sent the Corsair fleet into a full alert state. As a result Corsair Osiris were on patrol everywhere.
The Balistner arrived at the gunboats, the transport docked with the gunboat and troops boarded it rifles blazing. At that time the Corsair fleet arrived at the site, We need to get out of here now! Drake shouted, the gunboat was active again set a course for the Omicron Theta jump hole the Balistner provided cover fire. Hellfire Legion Battleships had a great advantage over most, shielding most groups simply couldnt afford shielding.
True to form the HF stole that too from a destroyed liberty dreadnought, it didnt even get a chance to activate the generator. But now the Balistner had the chance to try it against an entire Corsair battle group. The Dreadnought easily dispatched a Corsair Osiris with several shots from its main guns. The commander of the Balistner scanned for Drake and detected him entering omicron theta with an Osiris behind him and its escorts.
The Corsairs gave up entering Omicron Theta if they attacked the HF force there they could provoke and attack by the Asgard Warriors and their Flagship Ableben and suffer the wrath of a Zoner Juggernaut. The HF had won, and captured a well armed Corsair gunboat.

very nice. maybe you could make it a little bit longer tho. like how you escaped with the gunboat out of corsair space with corsairs on your tail. instead of that the corsairs just watching their gunboat go byebye. just my suggestion

That and the fact that even a dreadnought can't take a BS out, definitely not an Osiris in just a few hits from its main gun. Just not realistic. Same for the BS group getting tagged. Any BS is gonna take a few minutes at least to drop. And the NPC's donn't come in goroups of BSes. Just minor kinks to work out. Otherwise, very well done and now you have a good reason to have a Corsair GB. At least you put the effort in to give a background story. Also, you stated early in the story the fighters needed something to give support, then there all of a suddne two cruisers. Um don't they support fighters? Over all I give it a 'B'.
Which just happens to be short for Bravo.
Oh yeah, also might want to think aout the Corsairs coming to get it back or destroy it later. Extra credit stuff you know. :yahoo:

i agree with chucc
cant have so many bs's maybe have a corsair dread and corsair osiris
and have the balistner, renegade, and vulture take out the dread and everybody escapes and the osiris with titan escorts chases
1 more thing, since corsairs dont keep osiris's just around the dread arrived first and then with sight of the osiris everybody ran

Ahem, thank you for complements but this was an unusual event from the beginning of the RP. (this is based on the freelancer universe not actual gameplay and I have been attacked by groups of smiliar size anyways) But also player controlled BS are waaayyy stronger than npc ships especially Corsair Osiris ships I have killed one with a single light mortar hit once.... RP things I have seen in game show that the Corsairs build very low quality Osiris. this is from the bio of the outcast dreadnought "the Corsairs know not even five of their poorly built Osiris aren't a match for it" That is not exact but it gives the point.
Also it says Corsairs built a lot of the Osiris, and what I should put in there is a reason for the massive strength of the Corsairs but they do have a lot of Osiris and I never see any Corsair dreadnoughts so I don't think they would risk their precious dreadnought for something like a gunboat.

ok maybe switch the osiris and dread
also maybe throw in another osiris
but i dont think 5 osiris's maybe 2 osiris 1 dread 3 gunboats 30 fighters were called 2 support the 1 gunboat that was captured with its fighter wings and luckily for the corsairs the above were relatively close (some closer than others of course)

They were on patrol in the small revision I made the outcasts had attacked and put the dreadnought stationed there out of commision temporarlily. And it wasn't as much of support the gunboat as kill the people attacking our system and stealing our toys.

I must say Chucc, you are VERY wrong there..
Dreadnoughts are some of the STRONGEST battleships. The Liberty dreadnought is powerful, the Corsair Dread more so. Both can take on Osiris battleships. Dreadnoughts ARE battleships.
The Vanilla Liberty Dreadnaught had FOUR more turrets than the Osiris, and was just as strong as the Bretonian BS. Corsair Dread is one of the strongest battleships in the mod. Dreadnought is usually classed as a heavy cruiser, but in Freelancer, the Dreadnought and Battleship are on in the same.
Plus, the Osiris BSs the Corsairs are using are weaker ships. Weak Osiris BSs, with weaker weaponry than the Order Osiris. They are about 3/4 the strength, and a heavily armed and shielded BS could dispatch one fairly quickly.

Not to mention 2 heavily armed liberty cruisers. Have you seen the forward guns on that thing? Tank, maybe you could've included vulture a little bit. Maybe longer, overall pretty good, but maybe check grammar and explain a few more things.

Ahem Grammer is fine, I use Microsoft word and you are not the one to lecture me on Grammer..... I explained how I got the gunboat some people here are missing the point. And please to do not offer anything but Constructive Criticisim unless you have an idea about how to make it better and don't just say exlpain some things more. Tell me why, what and how you think it should go because just pointing out flaws does nothing for me or anyone else for that matter.
And I just threw the two Cruisers in there because I needed them to make it work and be thankful you were even in there Vulture was mentioned his crusier is fresh off the line. And it is two pages by industry standards so I think it is long enough to explain the simple capture of a gunboat it is not some epic story i have one of those in the works anyways.....
