Well in the last version of the mod the go to pirate gunship was the rouge gunboat

well... with the new highly factionized ships I wanted to ask if it was still reasonable to do this

I am toying around with the idea of a totally independent pirate ship again, if I go through with this I plan on operating in Bretonian, Omegas, and maybe Liberty (I'm really iffy about that being in my ZOI still)... also worth noting that this ship captain would be out for himself (or herself)...meaning that they would be in compitition with the other local pirates

on another note..... if I do use a Rogue gunboat for this idea, I cannot really decide between Molly or Rogue GB weapons... but I know for sure that I will not use Outcast or Corsair weapons on this.... as I may target them as well (oh noes!)

I was leaning more towards Molly weapons, as I would be operating more in West Sirius, meaning Bretonia and it's nearby systems. They are also less dependent on the Outcasts

Problem is again...Not like I would be working with them to advance their goals...

but again... Rogues are more of the pirate type, and they are out to make some cash too, them selling their weapons would not sound to unreasonable really

Soooooooooooooooooooooooo

Yeah I am unsure where to go from this point for ship choices and weapons

Again, still just some stuff I am working on, don't know if I will actually go and set this ship up soon or what

I'd go for Rogue weapons, as they'd be more likely to see them I guess.

But then, Molly fits your ZoI more.

I think your idea is good, Rogue GB with Molly weapons since you are going to be working in Bretonia and Omegas. Are you going to have a tag?

Factionless Pirate - kikatsu - 04-19-2009

I know I'll use the generic pirate ID

I think I will try to to stay tag-less (That new rep fixing tool will sure help me out with this so much)

If you want to be trully trully "indy" , get a zoner GB and some solarises/cerberuses. Other than that depends on your ZOI

Factionless Pirate - kikatsu - 04-19-2009

I don't think people would enjoy a Zoner GB being used as a pirate ship.... or a Zoner GB blasting holes in Zoner transports

wait.... you did not hear that from me

And thanks for the input here guys, this will help me out

Get a bounty hunter gunship with one f each house weapon and a nomad turret piloted by a disgruntled Bretonian armed forces pilot with a naval forces IFF.

Or how about a nomad battleship with a BHG tag, and order weapons with cryer pharmaceuticals crew and a Navy tag?

...

Get Basic turrets. Energy efficient, and you can't be more neutral than these.

Alternately, get a Pirate Transport and diversify your role. You can kill traders almost as handily, especially if you hit NPC convoys and sell the swag to buy a much bigger armor upgrade.

...hell, I might do that.
