Effective immediately

Starlight Research Consortium is closing it's doors and disbanding. This past year has been full of amazement and discovery. I just wish what we had discovered wouldn't have been so dire.

Final checks have been sent out. Godspeed to all former employees.

For the last time:

My fellow colleagues,

While things have grown quiet as of late. This doesn't mean my affections for each of you, as well as your hard work in these intervening months, is any less extortionary. We accomplished much, from rebuilding Ikarus. To exploring the unknown. Aspen, you grew from what I would consider to be a lackluster intern. Into an accomplished explorer and even part time ambassador, while it has been weeks, or is it now months since we have spoken. I hope only the best for you and yours in the now and the future. Karl, security pilot, complainer, and even occasionally the voice of reason, I want you to know that Zoners, now more than ever need escort pilots. I hope you continue to do all that you do! Finally, Sailas, leaving me with the keys to lock up and turn off the lights eh? Well, if you do happen to return, you'll know how to find us.

For us, Sean and I are taking the Gryphon out, past the edge, and into the unknown. The Aurora will tag along as long as she's functional. And we'll be sending hyperspace coordinates of our location on our general secured channel for as long as we are within broadcast range, should any of you choose to catch up. I know this isn't how any of us dreamed it would end, but the closing of this chapter merely means the beginning of the next. And I look forward to this next chapter.

This is the Advanced Baxter Anomaly Data Digest Operating Network. A connection has been detected from Dr. Brandon Wright. An update was found for the Documenting and Reporting system. Data has been updated and pending full review by SLRC staff where available.

Ikarus Station has additonally detected SLRC transponders nearby. Docking bays are open and standing by for service. Welcome home, researchers.

Moving Into The Present and Future

To all former members of the Starlight Research Consortium,

Three years have passed since the embers of Starlight dimmed, its once brilliant flame seemingly extinguished. Yet, I, return from beyond the void, my gaze set on reigniting the fire of our shared scientific quest.

My absence, dedicated to establishing a vital, new human colony, has yielded much. Yet, it has also left me haunted by unsettling questions about our consortium's demise. The ease with which Ikarus Station fell out of Zoner control during my time away demands investigation. The fate of Sailas and the Dreamscape research platform hangs heavy in the air, an unanswered enigma fueled by his untimely departure.

These past years have afforded me ample time for reflection. The speed of Starlight's dissolution, the scattering of its assets, the divestment of its invaluable research - all now sit under a stark, critical light. With each introspection, the conviction to rebuild what was lost strengthens within me.

Therefore, with unwavering resolve, I declare the Starlight Research Consortium reactivated.

The station that serves as our legacy, Ikarus, has already begun its metamorphosis. Its doors are no longer barred, welcoming collaboration and open exchange. Its systems hum with activity, eager to once again host the pursuit of groundbreaking scientific understanding.

However, rebuilding trust requires transparency and accountability. To that end, all former employees must personally request reactivation of their security codes. This signifies a conscious choice to rejoin our mission, a commitment to rekindling the Starlight we once knew.

The road ahead will be arduous, laden with questions and challenges. But remember, Starlight was never about convenience. It was forged in the crucible of curiosity, fueled by the shared passion to push the boundaries of knowledge. It was, and will be again, a testament to the enduring human spirit, its thirst for the unknown.

If the embers of curiosity still flicker within you, answer this call. Together, let us rekindle the flames of Starlight, brighter and more resolute than ever before.

Reach out. Reconnect. Reimagine.

Well, now this is indeed a suprise. I wasn't expecting this to happen, but I am glad it has. I am more than happy to ask for reactivation, and will make the long trek from Omicron Delta where I have been conducting research when I am able.

Ahoy there, fellow Starlighters! Dr. Brandon Wright here, your resident space archaeologist and station sprucer-upper extraordinaire. Brace yourselves, because I've got news that'll have you polishing your chronometers and digging deep into those research archives.

Mark your calendars for January 20th, 7:00 PM Server Time, because we're throwing open the gleaming (well, soon-to-be-gleaming) doors of Ikarus Station to the entire galaxy! That's right, an open house like no other, a chance to showcase the wonders of this cosmic gem to every wide-eyed explorer and curious mind that crosses our path.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Wright, my dear colleague, I'm a renowned astrophysicist, not a janitor!" Fear not, fellow explorers, for this isn't just a spit shine and dust bunny roundup. It's an opportunity to showcase the brilliance that hums within the very walls of Ikarus.

Think of it as a science symposium meets intergalactic cocktail party. We'll have prominent figures from across the Tau-23 system mingling, marveling at our research, and potentially dropping funding nuggets like space diamonds. So, dust off those dormant public-speaking skills, polish your most dazzling data visualizations, and get ready to wow 'em with the wonders of Starlight.

But before we unleash the scientific glitter bomb, we need to clear the cosmic cobwebs. That's where you come in, my friends. This week is Operation: Ikarus Immaculate. Grab your favorite cleaning solvent, your most persuasive elevator pitch, and let's make this station shine brighter than a supernova!

Remember:
  • Scrub-a-dub-dub, until the shine can't be outdone. No corner, crevice, or stray data chip is safe from the cleaning blitz.
  • Sharpen your science swords. Prepare to explain your research in ways that even a spacefaring hamster can grasp. Remember, jargon is a four-letter word (unless it's "fusion," of course).
  • Spread the word, far and wide. Let everyone know about our Ikarus Open House. Twit, post, holo-project the news! We want the Tau-23 system buzzing with anticipation.

And hey, if anyone finds a sentient dust bunny during their cleaning spree, let me know. Research purposes, of course.

Dr. Brandon Wright, signing off. Now get scrubbing, starlings!

P.S. Snacks and morale-boosting space shanties will be provided throughout the cleaning blitz. Because science is fun, and who doesn't love a good space ballad?

P.S.S. I'm told we are already out of snacks

Progress is ongoing with our project out in Omicron Delta. The transponders continue to be a hassle. However, my team doesn't run from a challenge and are making some progress in hacking the transponders to read what we want them to. We may need some...less than, shall we say, colorful items, to get through the firewalls to crack the IFF. I have a group and in mind that can deliver them to Ikarus for us to forward on to our project.

Additionally, we're going to need to reinforce some of the internal structure due cracks discovered in the exterior of the ice. This won't be a problem for my team but we may need additional funding in materials to get it done right. We don't want any of our people being sucked into the vacuum no matter how fun it looks.

I'll keep you updated as always, Director Wright.

Director,

The Irregular's have sourced us Counterfeit Computerware. Specifically 10,000 SCU's. We are preparing to shuttle this down to Seward Station to aid us in the use of the IFF and Name reconfiguration. However, my team there has indicated that we may need the resources of another party--specifically our old allies and competitors, the Starfliers. I will await your green light in order to get them onboard as soon as possible.

In the meantime, my team will continue to attempt to solve this problem without their help.

Ugh,

10,000 SCUs? That's enough to fry the neural circuits of a Colossus. Greenlight the Starfliers, Morningstar, but tread like you're crossing a minefield. Dangle intel, shared spoils, anything to sweeten the deal. But anything beyond the IFF and Name reconfig stay under tighter lockdown than Fort Knox. Remember, the ad campaign might still be a burr under their feathers, so finesse, not force, is your weapon.
