The Core| - Information - The Core - 09-17-2022
Quote:"Self proclaimed Protectors of humanity. Ruthless and unforgiving. Unyielding in their fight. Incorruptible. The Core is all that and much more. Once a small group of Bounty Hunters stalking their prey in the deepest and wildest of the Omicrons and Omegas, the Core has come a long way. From initiating a bloody war with the Order, Corsairs, Nomads and occasionally, even the Zoners, all the way to Colonizing a planet smack dab in the middle of a warzone, The Core has always been on edge of what is possible. They employ highly advanced, mostly experimental, technology to achieve their goals. Compromise is not an option.
All of this is, without doubt, a vastly complex and expensive logistic problem. That is where the Advanced Production and Manufacturing comes in, or APM for short. Despite Interspace Commerce being the majority shareholder of the company, the Core’s interests remain top priority for the APM. Maintaining the most technologically advanced fleet in the Edge Worlds is not an easy feat. That is why a huge portion of the APM is dedicated to conducting mostly legitimate business. Advanced hardware, ship building, base deployment,Top tier cybernetic augmentation, Iridium and Azurite mining operations, all those operations provide the funding and raw materials. However, the APM is rumored to participate in ethically questionable practices as well. Those may or may not include: Dealing with illegal artifacts and/or nomad technology and biomass, selling hardware on the blackmarket, drug trafficking, unethical experiments on human beings, creating artificial intelligence and much more. Whatever the truth maybe, the APM has managed to create and support a level of technological advancement that has but a few rivals in the entire Sirius sector."

With 51% of APM being owned by Interspace Commerce, The Core itself is tied to the corp. Interspace benefits from exclusive deals and The Core supplies them with materials that are otherwise impossible to obtain.
The Core has no real problem with the authorities or the rest of the local corporations in Liberty, as they usually follow the Laws set by them.
Same goes fo the Liberty Rogues. Although enemies of the state, the Rogues have really not bothered the Core that much.
The same cannot be said for the Xenos and the Lane Hackers. Both organisations have been documented supporting the Order and as such, are considered enemies of the Core.

The Core has kept an excellent relationship with the Bretonian Government over the years. On several occasions, they even assisted them. For example, the Core helped in the Siege of Aland Shipyard in the Omega-3 system. There were even a few joint ship building projects, resulting in the creation of the Caesar.
Bretonian Corporations are generally considered friendly and business is often conducted with them.
The Mollies haven't been a huge problem for the Core so far.
The same can't be said for the Gaians. They have been pestering APM convoys throughout the Kingdom and are considered hostile.

The Core and the BDM have participated in many joint operations in the Omicrons. BDM ships are not an uncommon sight around Core bases.
As for the Rheinland Military and the Federal Police, relationships between them and the Core have been generally positive and no incidents have ever happened.
The same can be said for most of the Corporations in Rheinland. Daumann HC even operates a base in Omicron Delta, in close proximity to Yaren. Effectively, piggybacking on the hightened security in the area. Of course, there are exceptions. ALG Waste Disposal has been documented numerous times assisting the Order.
ALG ships openly engaged Core ships in the Deep Omicrons, Omicron Delta included. Much like them, the Unioners and the Bundschuh also hopped on the bandwagon and decided to support the Order. All three are considered extremely hostile and are to be shot on sight. Of course, ALG is to be engaged out of Rheinland Sovereign space only.
The Red Hessians, the most powerful and well organized criminal faction of Rheinland has long hindered Core operations in the Omegas. They are also K.O.S., no questions asked.

Kusari has always been suspicious of The Core and with good reason. There have been no major incidents between them and The Core keeps their distance from the sector in general, as there isn't much to be gained from Kusari currently.
Except for the Blood Dragons, there are no notable targets in Kusari. They have been on The Core's list of things to exterminate for a while now. Known supporters of The Order, they are to be shown no mercy.

The Gallic Government and The Core, for a brief moment, were very close to a full blown alliance between them. In late 826 A.S., without warning, all diplomatic attempts were abbandoned what remains is a generally good relationship between the two. The APM benefits highly from this outcome, as they gained trading routes in and out of Gallia.
No severe incidents have been recorded with the local delinquent population of Gallia.

Even though they are no longer of the same group, The Core still maintains close relations with the Bounty Hunters Guild and contracts them to assist with their operations throughout Sirius.
The Junkers have proven to be frequent suppliers and assistants to The Core, most notably with the Congress' supply and repair of Dagger and Mars respectively. Within Omega-55, The Core now looks to cooperate with the Congress and help them colonize Planet Rugen.
No longer the sworn enemies they once were, The Core and the Outcasts enjoy each other's company when attacking their mutual enemies.
The Core and the Independent Miners Guild have clashed several times in the past. Most notably, over Aland Shipyard. Although the conflict is over, the IMG does not forget, and will not forgive.
The Core has interest in capturing and examining as much AI Tech as possible. That is why Gammu AI ships frequently come under fire. An offensive operation against the Gammu AI is in progress, with Battleship Mars and it's battlegroup being smack dab in the middle of it.
The Core and the Order are at war with each other due to clashing ideologies when it comes to alien technology. The Order also sees itself as the force to resist Core's imperialism in the Edge Worlds and is trying to undermine their hold of Omicron Delta.
The Coalition is also at ideological odds with The Core. Both sit at opposite ends of the political spectrum, and the Coalition are allies of the Order. Conflict is inevitable.
The Corsairs contest the Edge Worlds with The Core, as both seek to expand their respective territories and carve out influence. The Core has recently conquered the Omicron Delta system from the Corsairs, with the latter actively seeking a chance to strike back.
The Nomads and the Wild all hold powerful technologies that The Core wishes to exploit. The Core seeks to contain them, lay claim to their worlds and plunder them of riches and secrets.
Few remember the origins of Auxesia and their transgressions against The Core and those who do, do not hesitate even for a second before opening fire on any and all Auxo ships.
DESCRIPTION
The Core is a military quasi-state operating within the Omicrons and Omegas, with a few limited operations Sirius-Wide. It's a martial focussed organisation that conquers sizeable expanses of the Edge Worlds and reorganizes the defeated people and communities so as to support their ever moving war machine. It's militaristic capitalism at it's most vile - plundering the Edge Worlds of alien artifacts, ancient technology, and rare resources, with the primary objective of turning a profit. Wealth is power, and The Core wants to amass both in large quantities. In the pursuit of profit, The Core does not think twice about crossing the boundary into morally grey areas, nor defeating its enemies without mercy. The remote location of the Edge Worlds permits the Core to get away with all manner of evils, without repercussions from the rest of Sirius. As of 828 A.S. The Core, and by extent the APM, somewhat shifted their goals. Although they still aim to profit from alien artifacts and technology, along with selling advanced hardware to the highest bidder,The Core has chosen a new primary target. Entire battlegroups are being rerouted to battle the ever-growing nomad threat. Advancement of the humankind along with it's survival are the primary objectives of group. And power, of course. That always comes first.
However, a wolf does not change it's disposition and the Core remains just as ruthless, if not more. Under Daniels and Harvey's leadership, there is no place for doubt or hesitation. Training programs and cybernetic augmentation procedures are now the norm for those who wish to be part of the pack. Every single man and woman in the it, including those in the APM are trained up to military standards. Be it hand to hand combat, handling firearms, cyberwarfare and last but not least, going toe to toe against nomads and infectees. Furthermore, the Core utilizes a variety of mechs, ranging from super light to super heavy. Formidable ground assault battalions have been created and stationed all over Nauru, to keep the population in check. Special units have been created, with their primary focus being hostile takeovers of enemy bases and warships. Dubbed "The Usurpers", their only purpose in life is to get onboard and wipe out or neutralize it's denizens and claim it for the Core.
As for the logistic side of the Core, AP Manufacturing is the Corporate subsidiary. It functions as the faction's powerhouse of shipbuilding, shipbreaking, station construction, modular construction, civil and military engineering, renewables, project management, logistics and mining operations. Currently, Interspace Commerce holds a 51% majority share in APM and provides a huge amount of funding for The Core. In return, the Core has been supplying Interspace with objects of interest, that would be otherwise impossible to obtain. AP Manufacturing is also heavily involved in mining and smelting. Mainly focusing on Iridium and Azurite gas, both of which are used for highly advanced and often, very dangerous science projects. Surprisingly, the death rate of APM scientists is actually lower than the norm of the rest of Sirius, mostly because of the high amount of automation.
The Core itself has a set of laws and they enforce them fiercly in their territory. A complex system of rules has been created, so that they can wipe out any competition that might be unlucky enough to get caught. Monopoly is key for success, and the leadership knows that. Exclusivity has a high price, but it pays even better.
The Core started as an elite group of Bounty Hunters pursuing the most dangerous contracts against Corsair and Outcast leaders in the Omicrons and Omegas. During the height of the Nomad War, it was forcefully contracted and funded by Nomad-controlled Houses, and branded the Bounty Hunters Guild Core, based in the Edge Worlds with the sole purpose of crushing the Order. Once the Nomad War ended, the BHG Core found itself in the employ of Liberty as an off-the-books Black Ops PMC, with the purpose of recovering alien technology and artifacts for their Libertonian benefactors. After the Battle of Minor and the breakout of the Liberty-Rheinland war, for political reasons Liberty wanted to distance itself from the PMC, and so cut ties. BHG Core, now an independent paramilitary, worked to rebuild its losses and conquer Omicron Delta. After amassing sizeable wealth and influence, The Core split from the BHG and usurped AP Manufacturing.
The Core has swelled its numbers through a fierce propaganda and immigration campaign, drawing people from all walks of life (settlers, mercenaries, ex-law enforcement and ex-military, criminals and even businessmen) who wish to start anew and yearn for the power and riches that can be found. The Core's notorious battle-strategies are the crux of their success and have made them an Edge Worlds power. People are led to believe that The Core is a force for bringing stability to the lawless systems of Sirius, and a direct combatant to the Nomad threat. But that is not always the case. Sometimes, it's the Core that destabilizes their surroundings, as they see fit. Many Zoners have been saved by the Core fleets that defended the Freeport in Delta, but in fact, many more zoners died, a couple of months earlier, to the same guns that were now protecting them froms Corsairs and The Order. In reality, the crisis was very carefully engineered and executed by none other but the Core.
Outside the gaze of the Houses, within Omicron Rho, AP Manufacturing and The Core conduct all sorts of unethical and immoral research. The system is kept fiercely secure so that no one can discover the truth about the lengths The Core will go to grow stronger. Only the higher-ups truly know the extent of such experiments. Sometimes, perfection needs sacrifice and the Core are more than happy to burn through hordes of expendable test subjects, once proudly sporting the colors of their enemies.
The Core used to style itself after the Roman Empire: often speaking Latin, and naming things and places with Roman/Latin convention. The Romans believed Latin was the "language of power" - and The Core adopted that philosophy. However, this all changed. A more modern and intimidating style was chosen. Every empire is destinated to fall and Empire Omicronis followed suit. Nowdays, ship names are very carefully chosen to be as intimidating and threatening as possible. The Core is on the path to reclaiming it's old glory as "The Boogeyman of the Edge Worlds."
A good example would be The Athena, although destroyed in combat, it has been fully rebuilt and it prowls the Omicrons once again, searching for a target worthy of it's immesurable destructive capabilities. It serves as the Core's flagship as it has been for decades. Rumor has it, Daniels himself oversaw the contruction of the ship and made sure to incorporate as much as possible from the Athena V1.0 into the new design. The resulting Mako features exclusive prototypes and the crew that operates it have been hand picked. Their existence has been wiped from all known records and their very lives are now bound to the ship. Both figuratively and literally. Neural implants allow them to be directly linked to the Mako, and essentially, become part of it. The Athena's presence on the battlefield spells certain doom for those that stand to oppose it.
The Core's history, although full of incredible feats, has it's fair share of downfalls.
The huge organization, due to unforeseen circumstances, lost it's leadership in 827 A.S., effectively crippling it's might. Although each part of the once great empire of the omicrons kept operating, it was more or less on life support. With the return of Daniels and Domino Harvey, the pieces started to come together once again. Through their combined effort, able men and women were drawn to the cause. Both Daniels and Harvey had big plans and their struggle for control and domination over the Omicrons and most importantly, the nomads, fueled their campaign to bring the Core to it's former glory and even surpass it.
Many changes were made and much more will be made. For all of it's military might, the empire lacked vision. It lacked a real a goal. After Nauru has been settled, people barely had a reason to leave orbit. The Core grew and grew, but to what end, no one could say. And that's why it crashed and burned. Now, the Core has purpose once again. Another impossible goal. Impossible, much like many have dubbed the colonization of Planet Nauru. The Nomads and everything they stand for, along with their pet humans must be dealt with. Erradicated. Destroyed. All of them, one by one. By any means necessary. Their technology must become property of the Core. Humanity must move forward, with the Core at the pilot' seat. To accomplish these new goals, the Core needs to become as aggressive and ruthless as never before. No pity, no remorse, no mercy for the Aliens and it's enemies.
As for those who support and/or are part of it, the Core has made a turn in the right direction. More and more slaves are being freed everyday. And while the Core stretches the term Freedom, it's new employees are getting paid and assigned adequate housing. While the faction has not completely abolished slavery just yet, the process has been started and in due time, it shall be achieved.
While Nauru remains a safe heaven in Delta, the situation the Omicrons slipped out of The Core's control. Once the puppetmasters of Delta, they no longer have full reign over the system. For the time being, the Core has begun reorganizing it's assets and structure to reflect the PMC it once was. APM has been granted full control over all production facilities and labs under the Core's disposal. The new director has setup a three year plan to modernize the fleet and double it's numbers. The Boogeyman of the Edge Worlds is swiftly coming back to life and all the stops have been pulled. All out war is just around the corner, no matter what path the Core chooses.
CORE INTELLIGENCE BUREAU
“Veritas in tenebris jacet.”
CIB Agents
in the field |
In an universe filled with plots, deceit and treachery, there is only one way to survive - disregard the rules and always be three steps ahead of your enemy, no matter what. The Core Intelligence Bureau adheres to this concept and follows it strictly. By any means necessary.
In early 822 A.S. The Core, and by extent - the APM, were in dire need of a new, specialized division. One that would operate from the shadows and keeps tabs on the countless enemies of the megacorp. With the Arcani completely defunct, there weren’t many options to choose from, so instead, a new concept was introduced. Inspired by Government intelligence agencies and bound by no rules, the CIB was born. Caleb Hawke was granted the rank of “Director” and was given a considerate budget to make it happen. In order to draw as little unnecessary attention as possible, the budget was routed through several shell companies around Sirius. As a result, the CIB acquired various civilian, border worlds and edge worlds vessels, along with weapons and ordnance to outfit a small army.
In the following months, Caleb’s first priority was to single handedly recruit a number of skill Core veterans. Their task - to act as his agents throughout house space, as well as the more uncivilized and wild parts of Sirius. The result was a vast network of embedded agents, feeding information directly to the CIB director. With this out of the way, the Bureau needed brute force. And the APM obliged. The megacorp’s manufacturing division provided Hawke several gunships and gunboats and retrofitted the Immolator, to act as his mobile headquarters, should the need arise.
The CIB has since proven an effective weapon from the Core's vast arsenal. No task was too controversial for them. High profile assassinations, sabotage, kidnapping, torturing prisoners of war and straight up executions were their favorite tools of choice. Despite this, the Bureau tries to keep a low profile while operating in house space and follows all laws set by the respective governments.
TECHNOLOGY
Alabama Shipyard, the headqurters of AP Manufacturing.
The Core makes use of the ships and equipment from the AP-Line, produced by it's corporate subsidiary known as AP Manufacturing. AP Manufacturing used to produce ships and equipment for the Bounty Hunters Guild both before and shortly after the split. It now produces Core technology exclusively.

The Core also employs the use of Sirius Civilian, Border Worlds_Ships and Edge Worldsships and equipment. APM has access to fleets of Liberty Lawful transports, thanks to Interspace Commerce. A number of Shires have also been purchased from Bretonia.
A Core pilot with prototype "Vanguard" class exosuit
|
Through their discoveries from alien research, The Core boasts high technological efficiency and superiority. This gives The Core an advantage over many of their enemies, and allows them to stand toe-to-toe against them.
The Core tries to ensure that its pilots stand at the cutting edge of this technology, thus its pilots are often gifted internal as well as external augmentations to help them in combat. Transhumanism is an important part of Core philosophy, and achieving the state of 'Superhuman' as pioneered by Friedrich Nietzsche is something they strive towards. The Core is arrogant, and believe they are superior beings through this form of evolution. Others are seen as inferior, and are often talked down to as a result. The Core draws in similar technological fanatics, who also pursue the path of transhumanism.
Augmentation isn't enforced strictly within the Core, however, its pilots are greatly encouraged to follow that path. Strength and skill are praised within the paramilitary, so its pilots often pursue augmentation in order to out-perform their peers.
The H+ clinic is where the augmentation process takes place, and it is also a mandatory requirement for pilots who wish to reach the higher ranks.
A Core Marine on Planet Nauru hunting
Corsair remnants. |
AP-Manufacturing also produces arms and munitions for Core, but it is not uncommon for the Core to purchase imports from companies such as Ageira Technologies. Marines are equipped with strong, but lightweight battle armour to allow them versatile movement as well as protection from enemy fire. The armour is made from hard alloys and is covered in a layer of Iridium to provide defence against radiation as well as other corrosive elements. Internal systems are designed to dispense supplies to allow Core Marines to survive at least a week in the event they are cut off from the rest of their platoon. Such systems can also allow Marines to partake in limited space-walks and surviving in Zero-G, oxygenless environments when boarding enemy stations or capital ships.
More so than the pilots, Core Marines are known to be ruthless, merciless and extremely well-trained. Upon joining, most undergo conditioning at a higher level than normal pilots to prepare them for the Edge Worlds environment. When Core began its operations on Planet Nauru, it's Marines wasted no time in massacring every man, woman and child they could find within the Corsair Mining Bases on Planet Nauru. With the offensive operations over, the Marines are now shipbound and their missions mostly include boarding enemy stations or transports. Only the best of them are assigned to APM research crews operating on site. It is not uncommon for a Core marine to combat assorted criminal elements and infectees, be it on a remote planet or in zero g enviorments on abbandoned ships in space.
Since the beginning of the Nauru operations, the Core has begun to employ the use of military vehicles, AP Manufacturing produces these themselves for Core to make use of. The surplus is exported to the rest of Sirius as a product. Super Heavy mechs prowl the surface to this day, rooting out pockets of corsair remnants. Fast moving single seat ground assault units, or FMGAs, are nowdays mainly used to secure the mines and quickly put down riots with cluster missiles and gatling cannons.
CORE INSTALLATIONS
Aliens architecture on the surface
|
Nauru is a warm, desert world with a thin atmosphere. Surveys of Nauru discovered huge amounts of Iridium, an extremely rare and lucrative metal, present within the planet's crust. In addition, there are a myriad of alien ruins and structures located across the Planet’s surface, which were conclusively proven as having not been constructed by any known alien race by Kendra Sinclair in 815 A.S, leaving the identity of the real builders unknown. The Core continues to sift through the ruins, hoping to uncover - and exploit for financial gain - whatever secrets they may hold.
In 818 A.S, before the Battle of Minor, The Core set their sights on Planet Nauru, exploiting the lack of solid Corsair influence in Omicron Delta and the Corsair’s seemingly abandoning Yaren Base, to launch a soft invasion into the desert world. After forcefully removing the existing settlers and purging any hostiles, The Core initiated a six year campaign to conquer and colonize Nauru, contracting several Sirian Corporations to assist the process. Yaren Base being operated only by a skeleton crew allowed The Core to grow their operations undisturbed, and the Battleship Bellona would protect them. In 822 A.S the Corsairs suddenly sent an armada to Omicron Delta to re-fortify Yaren Base and fight back against The Core. It had now become critical that The Core capture Yaren Base from the Corsairs to prevent a counter-invasion of the Planet. But the Corsairs had underestimated The Core, and suffered a major defeat, ultimately withdrawing from Omicron Delta entirely.
APM Mining operation
|
In 824 A.S Ageira constructed a Docking Ring in orbit, allowing Planet Nauru to open up to further civilian traffic from across Sirius.
Terraforming efforts in conjunction with Planetform have since made the planet much more pleasant to live on through atmospheric manipulation and artificial lakes. Corporations and allied groups are leased land, setting up local branches. AP Manufacturing continues to generate immense profits from the extraction of Iridium. Rumours circulate of under-the-table deals with overcrowded House prisons to help supply manpower for the ever-expanding mining operations. Episodic bouts of tourism have grown commonplace, with wealthy individuals arriving for trips to resorts across the Planet. Population figures are kept secretive; but, local Zoners estimate that Nauru has a population greater than that of Akabat, but significantly less than that of Planet Malta or Planet Crete.
As of 829 A.S. Nauru's terraforming has yielding significant results. This has drawn more and more people from all around Sirius. Some driven away from their homes by war, others sold into slavery and of course, there were those who decide to try their luck out of the confines of House regulations and laws. Whatever the case may be, Guildmaster Daniels invested mountains of credits into building proper housing and infrastucture on the surface of Nauru. Entire cities of prefabs were swiftly deployed, in order to accomodate the influx.
AP Manufacturing have also significantly increased their presence planet side. Many research outposts and full-scale labs have been constructed. But while their topside installations are impressive, it's their underground network that really shines. One of the biggest depleted mines has been reinforced and transformed into a huge research center. What happens there is off the books and whatever warrants this type of secrecy certainly is not minor. Or ethical.
Orbiting Nauru in the Omicron Delta system, Yaren Base was one of the Corsairs' most distant outposts. Built in 812 AS to better facilitate the construction of planet-side mining camps and research installations, Yaren Base has since been expanded to include ship repair and refuelling capabilities, as well as a few long term habitat modules. After the alliance between the Order and the Corsairs broke down around 818 AS as well as priority changes, Yaren has since been of much lesser significance for the Corsairs.
The Core, an elite military force, took the insignificant focus of the Corsairs on Yaren as a chance and annexed the station in an attempt to secure themselves more parts at the crossroads to the upper Omicron systems. Most of the Iridium mined in the captured facilities on Nauru gets transported up to Yaren and then either onto Freeport 11 or into Omicron Rho to sell it in borderworlds, edge worlds and sometimes even in the houses, or to use it in their own shipyards. Given this newfound outpost, the Core seeks to expand their grasp onto the planets resources and colonize the desert world.
Yaren also acts as the primary base of operations for Core patrols in Omicron Delta. Considering the fact it's much faster to launch rapid response from an object in space, rather than from the surface of Nauru, the base is fully supplied and capable of maintaining s medium sized fleet.
Battlegroup Perditrix, Daniels' own, is stationed on Yaren. It's a strictly offensive fleet, employing hit and run tactics,as well as area denial tactics and when push comes to shove, long range and/or orbital bombardment.
Alabama Shipyard is the headquarters of AP Manufacturing, an ambitious tech-research and mining corporation based in the Omicrons under the aegis of the paramilitary known as the Core.
Its primary function is the construction and maintenance for AP-Line ships and Core warships operating in the Omicrons. Additionally, Alabama has to maintain APMs logistical fleet, resulting in the shipyard permanently running on a tight schedule. To compensate for that, Alabama has received numerous upgrades over the years, as well as expandaded storage facility and additional drydocks.
Durban Station is the headquarters of the Core and the main part of the Durban-Alabama Complex in orbit of Planet Rio. Outfitted with specially modified military-grade scanners and radars, Durban acts as high precision listening post and early detection system aimed at detecting alien activity in the surrounding space.
Whilst being a residential mega-complex, it also contains a multitude of different research laboratories - ranging from xeno-agricultural to weapon testing - ran by AP Manufacturing personnel. The vast majority of research conducted on Durban involves alien artifacts and technology and aims to secure the Core a technological advantage against their foes.
The station also includes a hidden section, where APM conducts otherwise illegal human augmentation experiments and trails. Their primary test subjects are mostly captured enemy pilots and foot soldiers.
In 832 AS, Core that was interested in acquiring the planet's secrets ever since its inception, took advantage of the overcommitment to other theaters of conflict by the Corsairs, and launched an attack on the planet, mercilessly crushing any resistance by the machines. Battleship Mars that was used to accomplish this task is currently overseeing the planetside harvesting operations, and all spoils are immediately sent to Nauru laboratories for analysis
Although the presence of a Mars battleship in Omicron Kappa alerted the Technocrats aboard the Orion in 829 AS, their suspicions were not confirmed. After several fierce skirmishes with the Corsairs and with more to come, the battleship retreated to Omicron Delta and remained absent from the system for two long years.
The increasing assertiveness of the Corsairs in Omegas and Omicron Theta, along with the capture of Freeport 9, forced the defenders of Gamma to refocus their attention on Omicron Gamma and Primus Outpost. Just as the conflict between the Corsairs and Outcasts reached its highest intensity, the battleship Mars unexpectedly returned to Omicron Kappa in 832 AS. Reinforced by additional Core units, it hastily set out to conquer the planet Gamma. The Gammu AI, calculating its options, dispatched some of its capable drones along with the Carrier Orion while retaining enough defenders to ensure sufficient time for preparation and execution of the evacuation.
Once the defenders had served their purpose, the seizure of the planet Gammu by Core forces was swift and ruthless. Despite the intensity of this brief operation, Core forces suffered only moderate losses, less than initially anticipated, and many started to believe that the planet Gammu was nothing more than a calculated loss for the AI. The Core wasted no time in capitalizing on their new gains, initiating the process of looting the technology and knowledge stored on the planet and transporting it to Nauru for further research and analysis.[/spoilet]
[Spoiler=Capetown Station] The Core built Capetown as a defensive strong-point and supply base for ships exploring the upper Omicrons in search of alien technology. The Core patrols the perimeter of the station in order to give it advance warning of attackers. The Core is well aware of what destroyed Freeport 7, and is determined to not make the same mistakes.
Capetown is the home of Battlegroup Bulwark and it's flagship, The Decimari. Bulwark's main objective is to protect Capetown at all costs, as the base itself is of strategic importance due to it's ability to monitor Order movements within the system via long range scanner arrays and a vast network of sensor buyos.
Dagger Outpost was initially constructed in modular pieces by Kruger Minerals at Stuttgart, from there, it was shipped to the distant Omega-55 system. This method was used to circumvent hostile interference as much as possible, as Omega-55 became very dangerous once Rheinland abandoned it in 820 AS. The added pricetag for this technique was deemed worthwhile by the Core, who have a vested interest for Planet Skagen in which the facility orbits.
In 825 AS, the base was besieged by Wild forces. The outpost managed to rout the assault with the help of the Battleship Mars, but the base suffered major internal damage. With the help of local allies, Dagger Station was repaired and rejuvenated, once again reaffirming The Core’s hold on Planet Skagen, and a bastion of their growing influence in the Omega-55 system.
Battlegroup Ehrgeiz has since then been permanently posted at Dagger Outpost. Battleship Ehrgeiz, a prototype Mako designed by Guildmaster Daniels, has so far had no problems fending off attackers.
While Dagger is one of the few endeavours the Core has overtook in the Omegas, they protect it fiercly. Having the ability to pester the Coalition and the Red Hessians close to their respective homes is something worth defending.
Between 829 AS and 832 AS, Dagger Station was scuttled by the Core. It came under attack and the crew resorted to demolition charges. With the majority of Core forces being pulled away from the Omegas and towards the offensive in Kappa, Dagger became an easy targets for the countless criminal elements in Omega-55.
Only recently being brought back to full operational capabilities, after taking severe damage from Battleship Canaan in Omicron Zeta, the Mars has been deployed to Omicron Kappa. It's purpose is to act as a forward base for Core patrols in the System, monitor Corsair activity and observe the Gammu AI. The Core has shown great interest in the non-human organization and is actively keeping tabs on them.
Dabadoru was lost to the Order some years ago. When the Core started their attack on Yaren, the Order followed suit and launched an assault of their own. Exploiting a tactical mistake, their fleet quickly overpowered the single Core patrol that was left guardiang Dabadoru. The station itself was almost empty.
In fact, the Core had no intention of keeping Dabadoru under their control. They knew full well where their effort needs to be focused. Yaren Base and by extent, Planet Nauru. Dabadoru was a small price to pay, as the day Dabadoru fell, The Core gained a planet of their own.

FINAL WORDS
The Core has been through many changes through the years, some good, some not so great. Being the denizens of a very volatile enviorment, we've drifted in and out of officialdom. However, with each new iteration, we've changed. And once again, we make that change, hopefully for the better. This time, we attempt to go back to our roots. No nonesense, no red tape. Straight up Core. What it was meant to be from the start. We will, of course, never abbandon or forget out history, as we take great pride in what we have achieved throughout the years. The Core is a very unique faction, one of the oldest "non-vanilla" organisations around and we strive to preserve that and hopefully, evolve furthermore. Our primary goal, as always, will remain the same: To have fun and enjoy ourselves as much as we can. We do hope we'll give you the chance to have fun as well. We'll be more than happy to answer all your questions and we're looking forward for your feedback.
Thank you for reading.
Pre 2022 Wrote:The Core, created on the 20/06/2014 and official on the 23/11/2014, is the spiritual successor to the Bounty Hunters Guild Core. The BHG| HC of 2014 universally agreed to split the Bounty Hunters Guild and the Core from each other, for the sake of allowing both factions to bloom on their own independent from each other and so that neither BHG| or any future faction would hold administrative rights over both BHG and BHG Core. BHG| then disbanded, gave up their officialdom and the rest was history. Later that year we took up the BHG Core NPC faction and began to remould it into 'The Core': an Edge Worlds paramilitary faction that, in contrast to the previous faction who had focused on it little, heavily focused on the Cores quest to dominate the Edge Worlds and create their own space to rule: all for the sake of profit and power.
This was also done so that the Core could re-establish itself in the Mod properly and fit neatly alongside other factions in Disco, as the original BHG Core had vague origins and sketchy means of self-sustenance that lacked logic. New lore and origins were created, with retcons avoided when possible, and through creating immense activity in a so-called "dead" region of space known as the Omicrons, the Core eventually reached officialdom and settled within the Mod - allowing for some previous story developments that were linked to the previous official faction to be completed.
Today, The Core is a faction that strives to deliver an enjoyable gameplay experience above all else for the Discovery Community, whilst still oozing with style. As a faction belief is to create fun, long-lasting and consistent experiences throughout the Edge Worlds as well as the rest of Sirius. RP is not glorified over PvP, or vice versa. Nor is either element met with scrutiny. The Core treats both as equal and encourages members of all skill levels in either category to partake in both and provide a fun gameplay experience incorporating those factors with the rest of the community. We believe that achieving great gameplay is the pinnacle of success and enjoyment.
And to those who will interact with us: we hope you will have as much enjoyment in encounters as we will when our members interact with you. If you have any complaints or questions, feel free to reach the leader via PM. Same applies if you want to organize events.
The last iteration of the Core was disbanded at the 24th of June, 2021.
Some relationships have changed over the years. Core has established it's neutrality towards the outcasts and the two factions have been seen fighting together on several occassions.
