Good day Seward Station staff,

My name is Jemma Patterson, appointed Administrator at the Trader Hub Port 34 near Planet Denver in Colorado.

While on base support supply runs in New York near the Pittsburgh Debris Field, one of our transports came across a disabled ship that almost he almost collided with on exit of the trade lane near the Planet. Since the ship was abandoned, yet relatively intact, they claimed salvage rights to it and we had it towed to our Colorado base for further analysis by the base engineers.

As hard as they tried, our team knows their standard base management systems much better than the mess of wiring and once-thought-incompatible systems they found in the recovered ship, which they later determined to the a "Dunlin" Retrofit Explorer. Whomever owned this ship before was obviously a master of salvage and making custom interlinks without regard for common shipbuilding standards that our staff is used to.

So this brings us to our communication to your station today.

We understand your staff have a 'knack' for this kind of recovery work and honestly it's been sort of a team-building exercise at this point so we'd like to get the vessel operational just for the story behind it. It's already been nicknamed 'The Unpossible Dream' given our many failures on recovery attempts.

If you're up for the 'challenge' (I use this term in total jest as this will likely be a piece of cake for a team with regular salvage experience) we can have it delivered to Bering via neutral 3rd parties so you can further examine it for potential restoration to daily use. Of course, I'll need some sort of budget of costs and materials on this project given we are going to have to make a business case to Corporate now that it will outgrow our 'miscellaneous expenses' category.

We look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

Greetings, Ms. Patterson. My name is James Mulligan, I'm responsible for this band of misfits out here in Bering.

It's wonderful to hear that you've recovered an old Dunlin. Those are great and sturdy ships. It's no wonder you found it still in one piece out there after all these years. Although, even though it's sturdy, Dunlin's are often times all different and are usually built to cater to their pilot as opposed to being standardized like many other ships. We can indeed help you with this as our primary backgrounds are Junkers, and Dunlin's were originally designed by us so it's a good fit.

Concerning the prices, see the invoice in the attachments. For this particular recovery, we would need Premium Scrap to recover the vessel. Systems and subsystems for these vessels can be recovered from this scrap considering the amount of them in service (and there are many wrecked in different scrap fields around Sirius at large). The scrap can be delivered to us at Seward Station and we will move forward with the salvage process once we have the requisite amount. The amount of Premium Scrap required is directly correlated how much it sells for at it's most expensive port. In this case, that is Gallia. The scrap sells for approximately 10.500SC there, and that amount is used in calculating the total amount required +20% for any additional work that needs to be done.

You can tow the vessel to our location in Bering at D-E5. You can see Pacifica Base nearby in the distance. If you get lost, please let us know and we'll do our best to assist with guiding your vessel(s) to our port.

Looking forward to future business!

Ms. Patterson, Good evening. My name is Jackie Kauffman, I'm Chief Engineer for SSE and we have a proposition for you from our illustrious leader, James. We're currently working on station upgrades in the wake of us establishing the station here in Bering and seeing as you're a large shipping group, we came up with the idea that would benefit us both.

The previous invoice will be rendered null and void if you're able to help us deliver materials to our base located in Bering. We require many tons/units of materials which James has been struggling to deliver on his own. The amount of MOX fuel we've expended shipping freight from all over is cutting deep into our operating costs. So instead of us killing ourselves, how about we salvage this Dunlin for you, free of charge, and you help us with our upgrade? Quid Pro Quo, no? Look at me, speaking Latin.

Let us know if this works for ya and we can send over the list of items we're needin'. If not, we can proceed as normal. We look forward to hearin' from ya.

Good day Jackie Kauffman,

That indeed sounds like a plan we can work out with our different shipping contacts and freelancers - as well as looking better on our books as a 'New Business' item rather than an expense without profit or asset at the moment...

We'd ask, of course, that we still make some profit from these deliveries, even if reduced due to the project work you are doing for us.

Send the list and we'll put it out there to whittle it down slowly and steadily to help!

Sincerely,

Ms. Patterson, we can set it up so that you still make some profit, but the amount is going to be cut down considerably since we're restorin' this ol' Dunlin from nothing. Let us know when you've towed the salvage to our station; I've already got my people sortin' through the scrap we have on hand to start the project.

James'll keep bringin' the materials in along with you. I think we can manage everythin' on our own 'cept the Heat Sinks and Industrial Hardware. Help is appreciated if ya help out on the others too though.

See attached info below.

James, let me know if I missed anythin'. Should be cherry...by the way, you still owe me that damn bottle of Whiskey you promised for fixin' your piece of shit Pilgrim Liner...again.

Good day Jackie Kauffman,

We managed to tug that Dunlin to your base today with a bit of effort and a lot of time.

A transport based out of Omega-3 was also able to deliver the following loads of cargo for your upgrade:

We'll continue to send more as time and ship availability permits!

Sincerely,

Greetings, Ms. Patterson. We received the frame of the Dunlin this afternoon and Jackie has begun work on the vessel. It should take a little bit of time to figure out the rats nest of electrical and other items from the original owner but once that is out of the way, it's a matter of simply restoring the hull and bulkheads. We'll let you know when it's ready. In the meantime, let us know which IFF and transponder array configuration you would like. We'll get that setup before we're completed.

Concerning the deliveries, I've been running myself ragged delivering parts to the station and have managed to finish off the Plasfoam Conduits this evening as well as delivering Optronic Arrays to the station via a neutral source in Kepler. Currently, we only need 12.000 more units to finish those off. The updated list is attached below. Let me know if you have any issues and we will endeavor to reconfigure as necessary.

Good day James Samuel Mulligan,

Our apologies in the delay in response - but to answer your question we will just be using the ship as another Interspace Commerce vessel, for unassigned duties at the moment.

Please let us know if you still require materials and we will work them into our runs as we did prior. We'd rather not make assumptions that the list you generated is still current and arrive with materials you no longer require. Also, unfortunately the demands on the fleet these days are almost extreme, stretching out delivery available and time targets with them.

Sincerely,

Ms. Patterson,

We've actually long since completed upgrades and are currently working on repairs to the station alongside your Dunlin. From our records, it seems you weren't able to make many loads out here for the upgrade. As such, we're going to require some Premium Scrap to be delivered for the finishing touches on the Dunlin. The agreement was we do the Dunlin for free of charge and use our resources to repair the vessel if you are able to adequately supply the station with materials such as Hull Segments and other items necessary. However, considering that request was not satisfactory to our needs, we are going to be reverting back to requiring Premium Scrap.

However, we aren't going to simply handwave away what support you were able to give despite logistical challenges you mentioned your team having reaching this area of space. As such, we will provide half of the Premium Scrap for the vessel and you must provide the other half. This comes to a total of 6,000 Tons/Units of Premium Scrap deliverable to Seward Satation in Bering. Following this delivery, we should only require an additional day or two for the vessel to be space worthy and ready for pickup. At that point, we will send you access codes to the vessel for you to pick up or remote fly to another location for pickup.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out and let us know.

Good day Jackie Kauffman,

The return to delivering Premium Scrap as part of the agreement for the work being completed is acceptable.

We actually had a ship passing through Texas that we were able to divert to assist with part of this required amount. It currently sits on your station with 5000 units of Premium Scrap - the crew decided after hauling Optronic Arrays from Kusari for so long it was time to unwind in your local base facilities. Make sure they stay out of trouble as the docking crew finds adequate space for the incoming cargo!

Thank you for your work to date on our project.

Sincerely,
