To the pirates and those with less nice intend... I miss you - Pennyfield - 11-21-2022

The thrill, that moment your heart skips a beat when you jump a gate... THAT is what I miss...

A few Sol's ago you could be sure that some pirate or a pilot with less good intentions was waiting for you at the end of a jump gate. Sometimes even mid-lane your life was at danger when you where stopped. And to let you in on a secret, I miss these days as they have come and gone. Nowadays travelling has become easy and somewhat uneventful.

So, this is a call-out, no, it's perhaps a shout-out to all those pilots with an 'evil' or 'less friendly' mindset to spice things up and make us traders shiver our timbers. Let us traders and haulers be scared again, have us worry about jumping systems, who's down the lane and let us have to hire escort vessels again.

Yet, that cry out comes with a similar call for you to be civil. Abide by the rules and most of all, go for the role play and not for the quick-win. You'd be surprised how far a decent and civil pirate action can go.

My request to you is: Go out and pirate, be that 'bad person' yet be civil, do some solid RP and above all, have fun and respect your fellow players. But for heaven's sake, get out there and make things eventful again!

Cheers,

Lu

Tell the traders this.

It's too late. The damage has been done.

I don't want to try to pirate you, or god forbid give you an interaction outside of the norm that requires even a fraction of RP that takes you away from your money making grind.
Let's face it, everyone wants to win and nobody wants to take the chance with unlawful RP like this anymore.

I'm sick and tired of trying to RP with some special needs donkey of a trader who says nothing, just immediately tries to run, opens fire without a word or just does an instant /gct ### the moment I catch them. It's almost like a large portion of the playerbase's traders don't want RP or care to do anything with the interactions they've recieved.

To the pirates: You don't do it to make money, it's a terrible method. So don't pretend that's why you're doing it. Why are you doing it?

That's because disco has always catered to please both the people with friends in the staff that block motions to improve the mod and those who refuse to roleplay, with the justification of "it's a lite rp server" or generally not understanding the broader implications of most situations.

If you want to do roleplay as a pirate, you are simply playing the wrong game right now. Either wait until the patch or go on and /1/2 out demands to traders because nothing else will happen.

As for the overall matter of this thread, nothing will change. There was an opportunity to adapt during the pandemic but certain individuals that I shall refrain from naming have only gained more traction in the less "knowledgeable" parts of the community, if one can say that. The admins have refused to take action against them and now it's too late as banning them will end up in making the average player count go from 20 to 5.

Swallow the fact up and move on to something else. There is nothing to change at this point in time about disco's traders with 10 billion more threads.

PS: Yes, I know this is flood. Have a nice picture of a frog below to improve your day.

I got paid for a piracy in 1 of 10 cases. People think it is much easier to waste 15 minutes and a ship then pay 5-10 million,

Civil and Pirate don't belong in the same sentence.

As a former power trader, I always valued a good piracy interaction. It made the beer after a successful convoy all the much sweeter. Okay, I lie... anybody who knows me knows that I have a pre-convoy ceremonial "pop-splsh" to get the party started.

I quit running logistics (and Disco in a serious capacity) because as much as there are toxic traders, there are some toxic and annoying pirates. The same people log in right when I'm near the same place, demand the cheddah, and then log out. No RP, no real interaction. Just player watch and when they see a known trader, stop what they're doing to demand 10 mil. And then there's those who feel that pirating near battleships or in front of Manhattan is a genius idea. I guess that is slightly better than pirates stealing a max security prison... eh, off topic.

The glove fits both hands. But yes, to the unlawfuls such as Lochrath and the creative Molly's I have encountered in Bretonia, you're missed and were the true heroes that made trading have a little spice to it. Oh well, on to greener pastures.

I wanted to say it's flood so do stop whining, as this post is all about what I miss. Yet having said that, I too need to be civil... Bring it on yet be creative as to incite some good input on the subject... *hugs*

You're not the only one that misses it. Sad but true state of affairs.
