Goodbye Disco - Zentor - 11-26-2022 It is time for me to part ways with Discovery. Freelancer is the heart of nostalgia for me, and so I will not be departing its community, but moving my efforts to a project better suited towards valuing my work and interests. It has become clear recently that my perspective is not valued within the development process, that even matters within my own area of focus will be decided by others without my consultation or consideration, and when I object to such things, I'm met with unhinged personal attacks against my character and contributions by my own peer, who has shown time and time again he cannot retain a professional and composed demeanor as expected of his role. On top of this, I've never been on board with the closed door approach of development and its subsequent attitude towards the community and refusing its involvement in the progression of our world. This year my life was visited by multiple personal tragedies and has gotten very complicated compared to what I'm used to, and unfortunately, the stress from the dysfunction here is not worth my health or mental state. I'd rather put my spare time towards healthier pursuits and groups, which I have elsewhere. It has been clear also that there is no "team" in the dev team, and as far I've seen, never has been, its always been individual pockets of personally driven development with little desire to coordinate, plan, and communicate as a unified entity, and something I no longer wish to be a part of. As said above, I will be pivoting my focus on to a sister project instead and will be available via Discord to any who wishes to reach me. Zentor#8555 I will be gradually withdrawing from the Discord server I'm a part through here, and I've withdrawn my code PR's from the main FLHook repo. Thank you all, Zentor RE: Goodbye Disco - Couden - 11-26-2022 See you in two weeks. Any way you giveaway stuff? RE: Goodbye Disco - Valdorel - 11-26-2022 That sucks to hear. I was really enjoying seeing all the work you've done for Disco, especially the dev-logs lately. RE: Goodbye Disco - Kherty - 11-26-2022 To anyone daring to just say "goodbye"
Reread immediately what Zentor wrote above. Immediately. Else, if you have nothing to say of worthy of note: move along and stay silent. Stay silent as you always have. Blind, and nonspeaking. Despicably and without honor nor even respect for what they have done for this wretched hive. All you have done is watch or worse - laugh. So do not even dare speak ill here. RE: Goodbye Disco - Czechmate - 11-26-2022 You have been a great friend, and companion, and your recent econ and devving efforts have been nothing short of revolutionary (a lot of your stuff hasn't even been properly advertised sadly, so people don't know how much work you've put in already). It was an honor flying with you, you will forever live through FLG we built up together. Your conclusion is completely correct and you can be glad you have seen it. If I were you I'd almost thank the people that lead you to that realization, I think we all know who they are. And that realization is that opportunity costs exist. Capable people like you can progress in life and make great money, progress in positive communities, and make their life better by focusing on other things. I myself am baffled at the massive amounts of thought-out connected work that stressed me the hell out I put into the game at times. I am almost bemused at the amount of value I put on the results. This is meant to be a fun escape, not a full-time job. There will be scarce appreciation here so when you find more fulfilling, productive, or fun things to do it's time to either take it much less seriously and personally as I have or bolt. It is just an old, greatly loved but barely played game with a niche community after all, nothing more. RE: Goodbye Disco - Leo - 11-26-2022 I'm not surprised in the least. I'm sorry to see you leave, you were the last Dev that gave a shit...and it's clear to see. ~Leo RE: Goodbye Disco - Darius - 11-26-2022 Have y'all tried considering that there's more to the whole "muh opinion didn't get factored in" thing beyond what this thread says? Zentor left at large because he didn't agree with what the other staff members proposed. On top of it, people that come here are say that other devs do not work at all are absolute hypocrites. Get a god damned life. We have story writing dozens of pages for the coming patch, balance putting in more work than all of the other years combined into a BC rework, and system devs (TWO of them) slowly losing their marbles over how much work there is to do. Legitimately grow up and understand there's other opinions and that yours might be wrong. If Discovery STILL cannot go over past mistakes of leeching onto 1 phrase said by your "ooRP rival" then this mod is beyond salvation. RE: Goodbye Disco - StDH - 11-26-2022 Zentor woke up and chose violence. Devs so rotten that their own are leaving, the rest reminding me those people with latex and whips. To the new and beginnings then RE: Goodbye Disco - Kherty - 11-26-2022 But not absolute violence. Not yet. For now, the truth that laid dormant shall now be visible to the entirety The Last Judgment is upon Discovery. RE: Goodbye Disco - St.Denis - 11-26-2022 Sorry to see you going. Good luck in your future endeavours. |
