Hi! (Mostly) new player. - Lithobraker - 12-02-2022
Hey, all. I've been playing a lot of Freelancer lately, and have been passively following Discovery for a long time now. I played a tiny bit, back when Gallia was new, but never got into it.
Now I've got several years of roleplay experience, and Discovery seems like it could be fun to me- there's just one question that comes to mind.
I've heard about character data being wiped after 6 months of inactivity. I doubt I'll be inactive for that long, but I do tend to focus on certain things until I get myself burned out, and it'd be nice to know if that's still a thing or not.
Currently, my plan is to start out with a simple freelancer character and a miner(whom I've already started), though I have some ideas for a potentially very fun Liberty Rogues character, and maybe a few others.
My miner is Amelia.Harrison, and the freelancer I just made is called Four-Leaf-Clover. Amelia already had a fun interaction with a pirate in Pennsylvania, so I've got a good feeling about this!

It is not being wiped since 2019.

Liberty Rouges are cool, but you can try Sirius Coalition if you want. We have some active playerbase,

Feel free to look around, see what groups interest you. The [R] rogues have been cool for rp when they log.
Xenos as XA can be a feisty opponent, if you like verbal arguments. They shoot a lot though

Thanks for the kind words! Nice to know the character wipe isn't an issue anymore. I expect I'll have long periods of inactivity.
I've also been interested in the Blood Dragons- mostly because of their depiction in the FL singleplayer campaign- though I have no idea how active they are.

Welcome back! I recommend sticking to your freelancer for now and interact with as many factions as you can/want to get a feel for what might interest you. Anything Liberty-based is usually a good starting point as it tends to have the most activity. Kusari tends to be the least populated, so starting there might be a bit tough.
