Request-a-moderator? - Niezck - 04-21-2009

I was thinking, perhaps have a subforum/stickied thread where folks can post to request one of our lovely moderators to perform tasks for them? I, for one, occasionally have problems contacting mods via Skype/PM and I'd rather not keep bugging them, as I'm sure they'd rather me not too.

Just a thought.

why aren't PMs enough?

Yes, why arent they? And this would be very abused, can you imagine? It would be the most spammed thread here...

Moderating requests are also sometimes best left for the eyes of the "client" and moderator only.

An alternative feature that would be more suiting, perhaps, would be a way for thread-starters and posters to submit a moderation request for their individual threads and posts. These requests would be viewable by all moderators to let whichever ones are online handle the issue.

It would no doubt be more efficient than singling out a moderator to PM, the problem would be implementing such a system.

I get an e-mail when you PM me.

I then read the PM.

I then follow through with the requested action.

I think that's enough for now, we don't get a hundred special requests a day.

Do all the mods have e-mail notification turned on? Also, who should we bother first?

Request-a-moderator? - Dusty Lens - 04-21-2009

1) Whoever is online
2) Whoever you like the most.

Moderation -is- a popularity contest.

I'll talk to the folks about seeing if this subforum might work. Couldn't hurt. Hell maybe we'll just incorporate it into the rule violation section.

I bother dusty. Then I bother Rev. Then I bother Athenian....after that, well, I've Burg and Korrd whom I might poke.

Note on bothering dusty (or any of them):
Be very, very, very specific what you want changed. And as clear as possible. There's no bringing it back.

Keeping it invisible, like the rules violation section, could be nice. Is it possible to attach an rss feed to a whole subforum? New threads send emails to signed up moderators/admins?

No idea. But, yes, after that mishap I make almost -everything- invisible. I almost never delete anything.
