Government Subsidies: Feedback - Darius - 02-09-2023

Tally-ho, gents!

As people may know by now, I'm focused on improving the experience of people in Bretonia as a whole, and though I admit that setbacks have been a part of this process, I intend to keep moving. In doing so, I've come up with a little nifty idea called providing governmental subsidies to corporations.

Well, how does this all work?!

Basically, to explain it in simple terms: BretGov would grant groups (important!) royal charters and a specific sum of cash (approximately 150 to 200 million in-game credits a month) to set up or continue mining ores in systems of importance, for example Tau-23 and Dublin, but also Cortez. What will the government gain out of it? A % of profits made by the base that sells the ore. Immediate benefits are also those such activity and roleplay.

Before doing this, however, as it would mark a pretty radical shift in how the relationship between governments and players goes, I have set up this small feedback thread to see if there's any interest in proceeding down this path.

So, shoot your ideas or concerns.

How will you track % of profits made by such faction or POB?

POBs show how much cash there is on them. You can just do cash at the end of the month minus cash at the start of it to easily get the profit made. Then do % of said profit and bingo.

Edit: if this is too complicated, then an already-decided amount can also be given back, but that would be a bit of a messy situation as it would require constantly changing subsidies to keep up profit and not go into the negative values with it.

Kudos for deciding to steal implement my idea. Big Grin

It will be hard to track profits so I suggest the government either "leases" a base (temporary transfer of ownership) to a government administrator or you implement it as loans with fixed return interest, with the additional bonus that if enough activity is generated (faction online time?) the interest can be waived.

You could also do exclusive mining rights where a Government actually amends the laws so only some factions can legally mine to make it more interesting and promote corporate rivalry.

I like that idea!

Hopefully this will get people to keep their pobs full of ore, instead of days/weeks without.

Nothing stopping you making a Miner and help filling these Bases.

Mining 60-180k takes quiet a while (helps if the a few do it).

Some Bases can easily require 60k+ every day just to keep them supplied (I have seen 100k easily disappear in 24 hours).

People seem happy to run the ores from POBs, but not many like to help fill them.

Alright. So, the general feedback is positive. Let's hope that the player responses will live up to the same standard.
