The IFF Conundrum - Durandal - 04-23-2009 Right, so... I have a Freelancer with an ID and navy IFF. Visting order space, two guys tried to attack me due to my IFF alone. It seems here that people have no idea how hard it is to keep a neutral IFF. Droprep is wonderful and all, but doesn't work very well when you have a whole bunch of high reps behind that. I simply do not have the money to do Droprep 20 times, and I wish people would take into the consideration the fact that IDs should always take precedence over IFFs. This isn't the first time it happened to me either. I even had a Corsair engage me without scanning me. Thoughts? I know I'm not the only person out there with this problem. The IFF Conundrum - Jamez - 04-23-2009 You can get a Freelancer IFF. Freelancers have their own base now, hover around Liberty space and ask around a bit, someone will point you in the right direction. You can aquire Freelancers rep from the bar at the Freelancer base. The IFF Conundrum - Durandal - 04-23-2009 Freelancers having a base sounds kind of ridiculous to me, and a freelancer IFF even more so, but then again I didn't come here to argue the mod. I'll look into it. The IFF Conundrum - gekerd - 04-23-2009 If you are a Freelancer/Merc/other generic ID your RP is judged on your IFF so they were right attacking you The IFF Conundrum - Durandal - 04-23-2009 That makes no sense. A Merc or Freelancer shouldn't be attacked at all unless their intentions are clearly hostile. IFFs are a flawed system and should be replaced entirely by IDs in my opinion (Which I'm guessing is not valued here anyway). The IFF Conundrum - gekerd - 04-23-2009 IFF's have value, and if you have one of those Generic ID's wich tell you can be of any faction or none you will be judged on the IFF, as it should be. The IFF Conundrum - William Frederick Cody - 04-23-2009 A Xeno bribe lowers most factions. It helps a) for no tag and b) helps with a freelancer tag The IFF Conundrum - Chico - 04-23-2009 Freelancers and Mercs are viewed with caution in certain places. Especially the border worlds. Lets be honest, if a freelancer/merc turns up in a dangerous place, they are looking for work or looking to collect... There is a good chance they may well be attacked, rather than wait to find out. Sadly, if you have a Liberty Navy IFF which was second on the list but now flashing, what have you been doing to promote it? I don't need to know the answer, but I bet it occured to the Order (and some corsairs) who attacked you. There is no 'free pass ID/IFF' in Sirius that covers everywhere. Just be aware of that. The IFF Conundrum - Niezck - 04-23-2009 I'd suggest going for a Freelancer tag, as outlined earlier. The IFF Conundrum - pragun - 04-23-2009 thing is, even though IDs take precedence over the IFFs, if you have a generic ID, the IFF does help in identifying you. Thats why everyone keeps telling you to change your IFF, and they re all right ! If i ever saw a freelanccer with a navy IFF, i'd think that you were a lawful freelancer who pulls missions for the navy and such.. |
