In-RP, legal carrying of illegal goods? - Corsair - 04-23-2009

Before I start BAWWW-ing, I'm going to tell my story.

I was cruising through New York, on my OSC Lux Liner. I had two units of Cardamine in my hold, for the RP-purpose of pleasing my wealthy riders. I was carrying some Neon, en route to Kyushu both to RP my OSC character and to sell the Neon, because it's on the way to the start of my OSC loop.

I was stopped by an Indie Police officer, who told me to drop my two units of Orange. I refused, claiming it to not be in my cargo hold, but rather in my wealthy passenger chamber. He kept telling me to drop my cargo, but then started shooting at me. In a panic for my passengers (Because we don't keep passengers in our cargo hold) I started running, but he CDed me. He was letting it all out on me, SNACs and Paralyzers, and pretty much any anti-cap weapon you can stick on a Liberty BOMBER.

Long story short, he killed me. Then I proceeded to have some fun with the RP aspect, and spoke from my escape pod as I blamed him for the murder of my 20,000 passengers on board my ship, all Liberty citizens. He kept insisting that I leave the system. I replied with "In what, my escape pod?" When I went to buy some more bats/bots for my next voyage, I found that all of my credits were gone.

BAWWWW.

Here's a suggestion:

Stay the <insert string of abusive words here> out of Liberty. Only the pirates and Xenos can RP there. You'll get no such thing from the Navy.

And no, this suggestion was not completely serious.

I could tell. And he shouldn't have been able to kill a civilian ship just for carrying Cardamine.

Ok, I dont have a navy char, but less flamy please Kuro. Other than that, PM an admin, trial by forums are bad.

As for my personal opinion, you both failed at RP. The officer should have had you search your patrons cabins and drop it. Since he did not you probably should have offered to do so. In the heat of it I can understand your reaction more than i can under stand the guy opening fire on you, but we all make mistakes so hopefully you both learn some thing from this.

I said it was only partially serious.

I don't see anything trial-by-forumy about this one...

Anyway, I don't agree with the destruction of a ship over such minuscule amounts of contraband. Real police wouldn't be able to fish it out in a transport that big (I don't believe), so we really shouldn't be able to.

However, I don't think you should've been carrying Neon in a Liner. It's a little weird to carry Neon like that, I would think, and if you hadn't any real passengers, then there might've been reason for halting you (Though I wouldn't have), because Cardimine is significantly different from Neon, and there is no other organic mass on the ship. Neon doesn't really help the OS&C business, and there must have been something profitable to take that would've been more in RP for OS&C...

Yeah, I'm just picky about partial sarcasm, it can be interpreted as being insulting. I've had some bad reactions to using it in the past and feel they were perfectly valid, so that's why I said that.

As for:

I was referring to this:

So a self-trial, in essence if he is protesting this and he was sanctioned...

He killed me again as I was trying to jump to Colorado. I was stuck in the gate, and he flies in and Ka-Boom. There was some Xeno RP chatter, and I was involved in it as I let auto-pilot un-stick me from the gate. Then I hear the warning signs blare again.

That was quite a bit overzealous. The unwritten rule is that anything under 20 or so is considered personal use. Unfortunately there are those out there that just want any excuse they can find to PEWPEW something.

People lack common sense. I found myself yesterday having to call LPI faction players off one of Disco's great wallflowers yesterday, who wanted to pewpew him for a total of eight units of contraband.

Somebody pulls that again, take screens and I'll do the little I can to have him court martialled and shot for extreme idiocy.
