Guard Faction RP Question - Thexare - 04-25-2009

So, generally speaking a guard faction seems like nothing more than a metagame entity, as very few of them seem to have any related RP beyond "we're better pilots" or "we have bigger ships than those other guys."

The only examples where the guard faction even seems to exist that I know of are the BHG Guard (namely, the Guild Core) and the Xeno Guard (|XG) and Outcast Guard (101st).

But I'm not saying this as a complaint, I'm bringing this up to ask how you RP your faction's Guards, if you do so. Maybe it'll give the rest of us some ideas, or even something that could be used in future updates...

I would like to think that the guard factions are not just "guards of the home system", but are the "elite" or a subsection of the npc faction. The best example of this is of course the Guild Core, which has a completely different roleplay to the normal Bounty Hunter Guild members.

Well, the BHG|Core is effectively our guard faction, as you pointed out.

We interact with the basic BHG| members quite well, and allow them in our events. (Especially since most of us don't have BHG|Core tags on ALL of our own ships, just because the Guard ID's are a pain in the butt to get.)

Anyway, we see ourselves as both elite pilots and on a specific mission for the Guild Core. There are aspects of this mission that aren't readily apparent, and you'd only see with interacting with some of the Core members that actually read and follow our written RP. But we have special things going on.

Yeah, I guess I'm just hoping there's more to it than just being the elite pilots, like there is with the Guild Core.

Not that I have any objection to creating the expanded roles myself, but I'd like to see what else has been done. By players, because as far as I can tell nothing's been done in the mod itself.
