Hey, Starfleet. Been a while.

Not to worry, I haven't crossed the northern end of Tau-37. You've told us that much quite some time ago to never enter the rift that's in the cloud. Closest I've been to is Gallia through that Lorrain rift though. Unsure why mines are in that area, besides the point of my message.

I'm exploring the possibility of making a few adjustments to my ship. Recent events have come up where I'd like to be more useful to a few peers of mine. I'm sure you know we don't use weapons, so I'm thinking we can think of other improvements for my tiny little ship.

I've seen your warships. I've also seen the warships from the other Houses too. There's always a shipyard, and there's always "the next big thing." Wondering if you're interested in something similar with my light fighter, to create something new.

Fire away with any conditions, questions and the like, as I'm sure you have some. Perhaps I'll come into that system you've barred us from so I can talk with you teams in person, or meet at the Freeport. Your choice.

PS. I have no technical knowledge, so excuse any of my ideas if they are too ridiculous.

I am Alejandro Harabero, Explorador Alfa of the Maltese Hyperspace Starfleet. I'll be handling this communication, unless there is need of a... more "technical" side to things. That wasn't always my expertise.

Adjustments to your ship? Interesting. We can certainly provide necessary equipment for your vessel, as we and our contacts have an array. Of course, nothing comes for free. Depending on the item, we can probably provide it given enough credits and a reason to get it. If what you are looking for is to upgrade your ship, expand upon what "improvements" you are thinking about.

However, what is your meaning behind... "create something new"? As in create a new vessel or hybrid? Or modifications to create the "perfect ship"? I must say I'm intrigued. Enlighten me.

Ah, just the person I'm after!

Forgive my bluntness on the subject. I've been flying this junk all over space so the prospect of having a ship that isn't on the verge of falling apart makes me impatient to say the least.

If you're familiar with the Kali-Class light fighter, you'd know that this lovely looking ship is not very well assembled. Once the cruise engine ignites, the damn thing rattles and makes my head hurt. I fly with a specific job, and I like this ship. In simple terms, my idea is to make a version two-point-oh of the Kali, using my existing ship. The changes making it the best scouting and cartography vessel.

Now, I know nothing of ship building, nor how much money is required to even modify a light fighter. Probably less than one of your warships. But I will say that this venture isn't planned to be just for me.

This improved Kali will be the ship of the Starfliers. Under my own, possibly ridiculous, designs. What do you say to that?

PS - "Create something new" may have been an exaggeration. I mean, not quite. My request is essentially creating the perfect ship in your words. For us, it's a first time? Second. Second time attempted venture.

I see your point. If you wish to create something new, we can help configure and construct it. Although, there is one thing. I have to ask, what do you wish from us? From what I can figure, you want to use our facilities and work together to create a new vessel under the Starfliers? We could work something out with that, however, there are a few things to work out. What all do you wish to create the vessel. I would like to know what we have to... "make ready".

Of course, nothing comes for free. We would need something useful of yours in exchange for this. Be it credits, information, or something else. To create a new vessel will cost money and time. And we don't waste either.

I halfway expected this to be denied, refused and thrown out. Only because I'm asking about a Light Fighter. So thanks.

Let's see... what I want... well, I guess I'll lay out my thoughts and ideas for what I'd like to see created? Does a dot point summary work? Easier for me to try piece it together that way. Suppose I should explain how I'll fly the ship too, probably important information there.

It would be easier to meet somewhere neutral in person, you can inspect the ship, take notes. Pass it onto someone who has more technical knowledge. Or, you know, I could fly into the rift you told me not to enter and meet you on whatever I find on the other side.

In terms of payment, I have a few credits to spare, but I do also like exploring the areas of space that are filled with radiation, mines and explosive gas pockets. Though I'm not quite fond of the scorching heat within Puerto Rico. Not sure if you are familiar, Starfleet has previously asked us Starfliers to explore the Thuringia System and report all findings. Perhaps I could do this again to give you some information about other areas the Maltese aren't quite familiar with.

I feel this would be a nice test for this new vessel. Though, we'll need to make sure it doesn't rattle and give me a headache first.

You would be right, this message was lost in transmission. Appreciation toward you resending.

If you wish to meet, the freeport would be the ideal place. At least until we get an idea of what we are working with. If I can get a handle and pass that along to one of my associates, we might be able to take steps toward the modification. There's a few trinkets I've come along that might be interesting to find in use. We may even have to pass beyond the rift to do some of the work on it. Don't get your hopes up however. If required, I'll see what steps are to be taken.

In terms of payment, if you are looking to pass exploration and knowledge along, there could be some uses. Intel is always important, depending on what's needed, I could dream up some missions that would be useful to us.

To reiterate, I'll be at the freeport. Get a handle on what the ship is, and 'take notes' as you said. There may be some work to be done in... areas you may find intriguing, but first and foremost, I'll see you first. If that's all, then pick a time and place.

Good luck. It can never hurt to have a shortage of it in the edge worlds.

Good news then. I'm at the Freeport on the other side, in a place called Omicron Theta. Noticed the Corsair ship on the opposite end of the system, hope you guys are playing nice for the moment. I'll fly the long way round to Tau-37. Corsairs so close may not be the best place to inspect my ship. See you soon.
