ingame conection problems - Pirana - 04-27-2009

helo all

first of al say im sorry if my english is not correct, hope you can understand about my conection issue. Next thing im sorry if im wrong is cause i dont know if im writing this pot in the correct place.

i have lost of lag in he game. Writing the command /ping shows i have the following values (not exactly):

139ms ping
13ms fluctuation
3% lag (not always)
13% loss

(i dont remember he other values but usually they are 0)

it is not always, but is the 95% of the time. If i dont have conection troubles i have 90ms ping, a very low fluctuation, and 0% the rest of values. I dont have any PnP programs running. I have 6Mb downloading ADSL and it is 300Kbs uploading (theoretical). I played discovery several months ago and i remember having same conection issues, but the /ping command didnt exist, so i couldnt check the conection.

is this probem of the server (when have lots of players conected) or is my problem?? have everybody same conection problems?

thank you a lot :$

I'd venture to guess that most likely it has something to do with your connection, because most of the time there is very little server lag. Ping seems to have a lot to do with distance as well, no matter what connection I have I'll probably never have below 300 ping from NZ. So from your ping I'd guess you are pretty close to the server. If there were problems with the server you can certainly bet there would be a lot more threads than just this one about it.

EDIT:
By the way, on an unrelated topic, you should read this thread.

Start/run/cmd/ping 82.113.48.5 will give your ping to the server.

There are no connection problems to your IP from our end currently. Unfortunately we can't do anything
about the rest of the internet at this time, much as we would love to be able to.
Rule 3.6 needs a good read though concerning your character names. They have been changed to fall into
line now.

Code:
Haciendo ping a 82.113.48.5 con 32 bytes de datos:

Respuesta desde 82.113.48.5: bytes=32 tiempo=107ms TTL=112
Respuesta desde 82.113.48.5: bytes=32 tiempo=113ms TTL=114
Respuesta desde 82.113.48.5: bytes=32 tiempo=109ms TTL=113
Respuesta desde 82.113.48.5: bytes=32 tiempo=112ms TTL=114

Estad?sticas de ping para 82.113.48.5:
    Paquetes: enviados = 4, recibidos = 4, perdidos = 0
    (0% perdidos),
Tiempos aproximados de ida y vuelta en milisegundos:
    M?nimo = 107ms, M?ximo = 113ms, Media = 110ms

i made the ping test and it is ok. No losses. But ingame i have some small laggings and they goes bigger when there are other players, do PVP is imposible.

maybe i could open any router port??

(about the names, im sorry for havent follow the rule, i saw they have been changed already)

I think as with all ISPs it depends on how many people are using the connection eg business users have a 50 to 1 ratio and home users have something like 120 to 1 ratio so if alot of users are on line at the same time it degrades the connection a bit. not a 100% sure on the ratios though, it might depend on your ISP ?
and I don't know for sure if it affects the ping.
