Group Survey Fuel Feature - TheKusari - 07-22-2023 'Sup everyone.
There a handful of factions that likely run around as a group gathering Survey MK3 jump co-ords and such. Running around with a Capital Ship and a Transport to bring in a couple loads of fuel. All well and good. I have an idea to kind of streamline this, or to make it at least a bit easier to perform as a group. The basic idea is this: If you are within the same group with another player who is very close to you (within 5k's let's say) and you use a Survey Module, the fuel can be taken from the other player if you don't have any with you. While I was putting together my little "inrp guide on how to get jump co-ords" for the Starfliers, constantly ejecting fuel seems a little unnecessary when this little feature could make it a little bit more friendly as a group activity. Especially since the fuel can be shot and destroyed in space by anyone. This also means that that the fuel quantity required (700 or 7,000 H-Fuel for example) needs to be available at the start of the survey, which makes it hard since with this idea you simply wouldn't be able to leave to get more. Probably a middle ground or a blend of other ideas just to make it a bit easier. Yes, I know there are key bindings for Eject All and Tractor All that both players can use to refuel the ship performing the survey, but thought I'd pitch this anyways and see what you all think. I have been here long enough to understand that this entire project is run by volunteers. That doesn't void me asking for feedback on a feature I'd like to see added, despite knowing it will never get put in. RE: Group Survey Fuel Feature - Czechmate - 07-22-2023 Could be a simple command /givecargo or or /givebatt when having scanning ship selected and in range rather than automatic, could work for anomaly scanning too. Basically a trade without confirmation needed that works just when survey module is mounted to prevent abuse in other situations (like planting cardamine on a transport by LPI haha) RE: Group Survey Fuel Feature - Aingar - 07-22-2023 Hello, since I would be the guy to code this, I might as well chime in. Jump Drives are being massively reworked in the upcoming patch, and QoL features are a massive part of the changes. While I appreciate the effort to write down a change suggestion, I'm afraid that it's incompatible with what we have planned, as we're pretty happy with the design, and it's pretty locked-in at this stage.
