Overview

With the Insurgency now gone, the Liberty Navy can now move on and learn from the past. The LNS-Discovery, in the hands of the Fifth Fleet, has been towed to Norfolk Shipyard for repairs, after the heavy damages sustained during its last battle in Magellan. While the engineers and mechanics were figuring out a way to repair the engines, the Fleet’s High Command ordered all unnecessary personnel to move back to the Shipyard.

Several reports of the Navy Intelligence mentioned an increasing presence of Rogues in the Shipyard area, and the underground communication channels had lit up ever since the Discovery had been towed to Norfolk: something was going on, and it was not great odds for the Navy.

The towing of the Discovery had indeed not gone unnoticed by the Rogues and the Lane Hackers. Both criminal organisations saw a way of acquiring more firepower, and a chance of leading the Navy plans astray. A fighter squadron, codename “Disaster”, was gathered and sent to Norfolk Shipyard, with the intent of boarding the Discovery, find a way to make the repairs as fast as humanly possible, and take off.

Given the circumstances, and the need for the Fifth Fleet to keep hold onto the Discovery, the “Witch” squadron was despatched with only one objective: keep the enemy fighters away from the Shipyard. Even if the squadron was a sign of reinforced security and was composed of the brightest officers of the Fifth, the Forty-Sixth Fleet was called in for reinforcements and ensure the success of the mission. The squadron was codenamed “Guardian”.
