Freelancer in 2023/2024 and beyond - Avalanche - 10-19-2023 As we all know, the game is hard to get. No disc? Don't know how to manage files? No Freelancer for you. It's a shame as we want more players to know about this great game but it's not a good look when sharing various install instructions. @Groshyr has solved this issue for us, by creating two files. One for single player, another for Discovery. Click download, unzip, click play. Now you can tell your friends about Freelancer, and they can install it as easily as if it was Steam or any MMORP's online website. The current draft of the website I have made for this project, to advertise these files, is here: https://playfreelancer.webflow.io/ It is being improved upon as you read this. This thread is now a time to get feedback from you all, to improve it further. If you have any ship models, in-game screenshots, copywriting skills or new ideas for sections of the website please share them here. Your thoughts, criticisms and any assistance towards improving the website is appreciated. (it may become playfreelancer.com or something similar, if interest and use is deemed suitable enough for me to pay more of my own money hosting it outside of weblow.io. For now, it'll stay on webflow.io as playfreelancer.webflow.io). RE: Freelancer in 2023/2024 and beyond - pillow - 10-19-2023 I wouldn't advertise transports and battleships (basically anything that isn't a fighter or freighter) as flyable, as in the vanilla game, they are not. Otherwise, this looks awesome! RE: Freelancer in 2023/2024 and beyond - TheSauron - 10-19-2023 A vanilla freelancer promo site shouldn't really be using Discovery assets or gameplay elements to promote itself, if only because they're simply not in the game. It should also specify that the MMORP elements are just one of the community mods. If you're going to use assets from Discovery or other mods, they should be specified as such. I think it'd be best if the site had a section specifically for SP freelancer, HD or otherwise, and a showcase of mods separately, with assets from each confined to their respective sections. RE: Freelancer in 2023/2024 and beyond - Kherty - 10-19-2023 It does feel like you're advertising Discovery assets into vanilla, and tying it all together, and as the two replies above said, it could be very easily misinterpreted. Separate sections would be very better, I agree. Also, trying to "fork £ out of it", I would advise against it, this is just my opinion, but trying to make some money off of a free mod, based on abandonware (that I believe still belongs to Microsoft too?), is not the best way, that is my opinion once again. That last part meant, depending on how much demand the site gets, I may put more money into it myself, and host it properly with a www.domain.com (not webflow) RE: Freelancer in 2023/2024 and beyond - Kherty - 10-19-2023 (10-19-2023, 03:19 PM)Avalanche Wrote: -snip- I see, I understood as if it was profit-driven, my bad, well it would be rather better with a "real" domain, for sure! RE: Freelancer in 2023/2024 and beyond - Demonic - 10-19-2023 Yeah, i appeciate the sentiment and I like the design and the idea, but I think it should separate Vanilla freelancer and Disco server. Also trying to get a cash out of it kinda rubs me the wrong way. I could put more of my own £ into this, depending on demand. RE: Freelancer in 2023/2024 and beyond - Demonic - 10-19-2023 Oops. Ye, me stoopid. Disregarde anything I say today, apparently my brain is fried. |
