Lovelace Circle - Amba - 02-24-2024 "Lovelace Circle" ID: .. LH -.——.- TAG: .. );-- -.——.- IFF: .. LH Background The Lane Hacker group branded by outsiders as the "Lovelace Circle", though it appears to be an exonym and they themselves have never used the name in any capacity, first began as a little more than a neuralnet chatroom frequented by hacktivists and free tech enthusiasts.
Half honeypot, half recruitment centre, the chatroom had the side effect of bringing together a group of girls within the Hackers who, with their collective know-how, began to take on small-scale neural net crime, targeting lesser known corporations within Liberty with scams and server breaches, selling off client data to the highest bidder. The target that would change their fortunes would be one Heartland Logistics LLC, chosen for its recent slump in contracts and "dumpy looking bossman". The reason for the former would be a secret contract with Universal Shipping, one that resulted in them holding a slew of confidential information on an extremely valuable convoy. Pooling a portion of the earnings together, the girls then rented out a space in Freeport 53 in the Ontario system, naming it their Makerspace and furnishing it with computerware and small-scale fabrication equipment. Between drug-fueled raves and energy-drink-fueled hackathons a thought bubbled up to the surface "What if we, like, got some ships and went out and wrecked shit?" The circle’s first forays into space proved successful enough to encourage more to follow suit and soon the circle began to grow both in size and the danger posed to Liberty at large. Goals ▪ Develop the circle's and by extension the Lane Hackers' technological capabilities.
▪ Undermine Ageira's operations, be it through hacking, sabotage or piracy. ▪ Make money off the extralegal expropriation of property belonging to other corporations, both local and foreign. ▪ Strengthen ties with other unlawful groups outside Liberty. ▪ Throw some kickass parties. Internal Organization Much like a herd of wild cats, the organization style of the circle is fickle and chaotic. Members join together in ad-hoc groups to work on projects that interest them, with groups growing, shrinking and splintering off into subgroups on a whim. Software is made free and open, workshops are shared and resources are pooled. Decisions on shared property are done via consensus, with the opinions of those with the most relevant experience carrying more weight. Less desirable tasks are done via lottery and then usually contracted out to third parties due to disinterest or laziness. While the circle does not actively recruit, members will at times try to bring promising Hackers into the fold. The process is broken up into two stages: In the first the target will be invited to take part in the circle’s activities and invited into some of the circle’s chatrooms. Those who pass the “vibe check” are then invited to break into one of the circle’s more secure systems, with success resulting in a formal invite. Most potential recruits do not survive contact with a Lovelace Circle chatroom. External Relations
Besties
▪ Other Lane Hackers – One struggle, besties! We grew up in this house, we help each other out!
Hiii~
▪ Outcasts – They got the good stuff, we want the good stuff, let's do business!
▪ Mollys – Not on our turf? Check. Also hate corpos? Check. Might be the start of a beautiful friendship.
▪ Golden Chrysanthemums – The fellow girlies up in Kusari are just the coolest, plus if the Cardamine market gets rocky again we’ll want them on our side.
Literally Who?
▪ Liberty Rogues – Sometimes they step on our toes, sometimes they buy our intel. Our interests align, but watch your back around them.
▪ Junkers – Useful always having a fence on hand, but they’re almost as slimy as the corpos.
▪ Zoners – Don’t break Freeport rules, point their warships towards the nearest Liberty Navy and their trade ships towards our nearest ambush. That simple.
▪ Independent Miners Guild – Just a little bit better than foreign corpos, since they ran the Freeport in Magellan. Until it got blasted.
▪ Hogosha – The artifact trade makes bank. We like money.
▪ Everyone Else
Whatever
▪ Foreign Corpos – Like homegrown ones, except they might actually be open to cutting deals, so whack them unless they prove themselves useful.
▪ Foreign Lawfuls – They probably hate our guts, but unless they’re heading out to the borderworlds they’re not our problem.
Ugh
▪ Liberty Corpos – Whack them like pinatas and watch the creds fall out. Not much use for them otherwise.
▪ Liberty Lawfuls – Corpo patsies and bootlickers, just a shame there’s not much point to kicking their butts.
▪ Xenos – Here comes the asshole uncle and his gun club buddies, yelling at everyone then demanding they get invited back anyway.
Worsties
▪ Ageira – We’ve all been burned by them, let's burn them back. Every Stegodon captain should be sweating bullets getting into a lane..
