Med Force One Research Files - Doc Holliday - 02-29-2024 Secure Hematology Lab It was after hours and he was tired. He returned from a few days off over the holidays with Isa and went straight to work. Once finished, he took the samples he had taken and headed to a lab to start researching. Nomad blood and samples were a rare find, especially from a live one. The lab was small but had all it needed in it to include its own secure computer system. Yes, it could log into other systems but heavy encryptions kept it safe and for darn good reasons. Some would find Nomad research to be intriguing while others saw it as a threat but Doc was a believer in that people fear what they do not understand. He took a drop of the blood he now had and placed it on a glass slide. He started old school. It was a bluish color. In many respects, he was looking at human blood. Whereas humans had red blood cells, the sample he had contained blue cells. Both had platelets and had cells to fight disease. The big difference was cardamine. Nomad blood had it naturally whereas human blood only had it when injected or inhaled. There were some things Doc knew already. Nomad cardamine rates were considerably lower. Still, cardamine affected body functions in the same way. Humans addicted to cardamine had low birth rates and it's enhancement on the human body added lifespan and even strength. Cancer among those with it was almost non-existent as well. Still, it was a dependency that many wanted to be free from. For now though, most of that didn't matter. He wanted to study it's effect on birth rates and if he could do anything about it, what would it be? He had time and he had samples, well, some time anyway. He would have to find out when he could. For now, he had other priorities. The samples were safe here and to ensure it, he restricted this lab to himself with his own code and sequence for door operation. To even those who would pass by, it would look like just another hallway. He locked the samples in a climate controlled vault inside, secured the door and headed to Med Force Academy for other obligations. RE: Med Force One Research Files - Doc Holliday - 07-20-2024 Secure Lab on Med Force One He was as frustrated as he was tired. Everyone thought he was trading somewhere to include Isabella but the truth was he locked himself in the lab. He wanted to crack the mystery on cardamine and infertility. All of his research went back hundreds of years. It wasn't uncommon to find the use of illegal drugs to cause it and one could only guess that cardamine was no exception. He sipped the seltzer on the table as he was reading a journal. He removed his glasses momentarily to rub his eyes only to put them back on and continue reading. "While it is no guarantee, if an addict stops use of a substance, normal body functions may be restored but not always," he read softly aloud to himself. "Couple this with the use of fertility drugs, there have been many stories of success." He then leaned back from his screen and thought. "But to take an addict off of cardamine is a death sentence." He then reviewed some findings of blood samples of a Nomad versus that of an addicted Outcast female. It was no secret that Nomad blood contained a natural amount of cardamine. Outcast blood however, had higher concentrations. They used it for longevity. They used it to enhance themselves and their lengthened natural life spans reflected this. "Hm," he thought, "it is risky but I need to study both a living female Maltese and a living female Nomad, the latter of which I have done." He was thinking himself bonkers as he continued to think. "I need to crack this mystery....for Isa....for me." With that, he finished his drink, shut down his work terminal, extinguished the lights and retreated to his quarters for the evening. RE: Med Force One Research Files - Doc Holliday - 08-15-2024 Secure Lab on Med Force One Another failed experiment! Once again the mystery of cardamine defeated him. No wonder the Outcasts had so much power with it! He slammed his fists on the counter and cursed as he did. The door to the lab was thick and sound proofed but he hoped that no one heard him. He was cursing in Latin as he walked around the lab. Finally, he sighed. "Well, unless I can get some help. Unless there is someone who has a clue, I cannot fix the infertility caused by this drug." He would then clean up his mess and put away his instruments and return to his quarters where he would try relaxing himself as he so often had by sitting on the bench of his piano. As he played, he cried a bit. He had failed at least, for now. He wanted to help the love of his life in her quest for motherhood. Even after a couple of hours of piano, he needed another way. Frustrated, he quietly left Med Force One and headed for his retreat on Erie. RE: Med Force One Research Files - Doc Holliday - 10-17-2024 Secure Lab, Med Force One He had mixed all the herbs and natural medicines he had spent weeks collecting. Some were all natural while others he mixed with known fertility drugs. He continued to work on this project alone. If the wrong people got even a hint of what he was trying to accomplish, he could find himself marked. In his mind, he felt that he owed it to those who wanted children but couldn't. Also for him, it was personal. He wasn't about to give up on it despite the odds. He had to try. Some of the mixtures were put into a liquid form for a hypo injection while others were made into a pill form. It would be up to the recipient. He would spend hours doing this in hopes that they would work and that he might have more than one test subject. Only time and circumstance would tell. Once finished, he returned to his quarters. |
