Research Expedition Report on Unknown wreck within the Ontario
Report was compiled on 01 / 03 / 834AS
A sunny day, at least in our crew. We were following up on a tip from our own Albert McKenzie who was doing some material requisitions in Ontario system and came upon a strange wreck of unknown origins. Looked like a big and quite capable transport ship, so we changed course and went to see what was all that about. We have been thinking about having a refit of our Albatros fleet, maybe upgrading to something more capable and roomy and the design (at first glance ) seemed something noteworthy. Arriving on spot we met up and started the scan process. Albert tried to deploy some drones to enter the ship for a full sweep, but the airlocks were fused shut, so unless we get some Junker crew out here, that's a no go. Our scanners managed to pick up all the dents and scratches and it should turn out quite good.
Our preliminary data suggest ship of quite old design, seems a bit scrappy, but in good condition. We scanned the cargo pods and the ship came back as super efficient transport. Supporting eighteen cargo containers, spread out in a triangular pattern to distribute the weight (we presume) the cargo capacity rounds up to nine thousand units. That's counting the average size of one of the modern containers on a ship like we use now, the Albatross. These containers do seem larger, so maybe our calculations are off. If this is true, this would revolutionize the cargo movement as it is. No guns were mounted (not that we're interested) but four reinforced plates that suggest mount points were noted. We shall keep this new design close to ourselves for now. If project Consolidation moves forward and we wish to update our ship rooster, this design could lead to some interesting possibilities. Judging by the size it might require some training and maybe an increase in average transport crew size, but that's something Albert will have to worry about. Now to get back to SRC and have a long briefing about this data.
Captain and crew of '\S/' Arcturus-I, signing off.
