“Les Brigands de Gaule” ID and IFF: Gallic Brigands Naming Convention: |’B’|-Name of Ship The Gallic Brigands are a loosely affiliated union of space pirates and other antisocial elements, who make up the largest criminal organization in Gallia. With their firm hold on the underworld of Gallia, they’re known to be involved in almost any illicit activities going, ruthlessly enforcing a monopoly on the gallic black market. With the opening of Gallia and an influx of members, due to widespread corruption and downfall of the once great Kingdom, Brigands see themselves in a spot of new opportunities turning their gaze to all of Sirius. History If people would think of an exact date, the Brigands would have emerged, no one would be exactly certain, however most agree that the original packs were spotted near the end of the third century (AGS). They date back to times of disgruntled mining and factory workers tired of their corporate oppressors and going rogue, where the old saying emerged of this romantic ideal of robbing the rich and giving it to the poor, which some Brigands might like to retain, even if just for fancytalk. In truth, from the very start many Brigands would rob as much and anyone if possible and involve themselves in any unspeakable vile act, as long as they saw profit. Many forerunners eventually ended up forming a common band, even while retaining their fiercely free spirits as highwaymen. Either through merging or hunting down those in the way of the ruling packs, but keeping the decentralized and disorganized nature. In truth, anyone willing to steal a ship and pick up a gun could become a Brigand if they got the guts to and join the lines of a pack. With staging gigs at even higher stakes and longer ranges to cover, they built up the means and information networks, to stage many raids in the Gallic Homeworlds, sitting on their spoils and expanding their hideouts, which usually were composed of stolen stellar infrastructure assets, carved out asteroids and former mining bases, which they had refurbished in their swashbuckling romantic picture of a morbidly beautiful Gallia covered in crimson red. During the many conflicts in and around Gallia, they expanded their smuggling convoys to aid former revolutionary organizations like the Council, providing them with various stolen assets and tools to keep a war industry running all in exchange for credits and for an blind eye in Council liberated systems, when they would perform their activities or need a quick resort. Even more opportunities were found with the arrival of Nox, where they saw a chance of maximizing profits, bringing the drugs to the Gallic Homeworlds, using their various links to the black market. Soon the Hideouts were home to sprawling nightlifes of cramped gloomy illicit businesses, where raiders would return with their findings, gamble them away or buy things one could never imagine, in a morbidly free world of opportunities. One would often immerse themselves with cramped dirty gangways and dim lit rocky hallways leading to many in neon lights covered spelunks, ominous bazaars and casinos on a Brigand installation, fashioned in stolen woodworks and ornate pillaged luxuries, as they like to hoard their riches and fancy themselves in a life they couldn’t have imagined before. Some clans use these cramped lively places as networks, to get into touch with all of Gallia and even let outsiders in, if they bring something of value and contribute to the Brigands motives, while not disrespecting them while at it. The opening of Gallia and fall of the Kingdom, marked a new chapter for the Brigands, to reach their gaze outwards to engage in even larger smuggling caravans, immersing themselves into the other houses, seeing in what trouble they can get themselves in and returning with various goods, profitable or of use for their operations. Structure As a loosely affiliated union of mostly space pirates, the Brigands are numerous with members hailing from mostly the lower parts of the heavily stratified gallic society, but even were known to gain an influx from corrupted authorities and even packs having their upcoming by disgruntled former corpos and blue collar laborers. These days the next Brigands might be even born across the many hideouts into a life of crime, or picked up from the streets, spotted by various questionable clubs or hotspots where Brigands would linger on the many laborer planets of the Union.
Grouping themselves into decentralized subcells and packs of raiders, they show no mark of any strict hierarchies and fiercely prefer their free and romantic way of life as highwaymen. With their high numbers, they make up what lacks them in a unified organization with enough gunpowder to spare and a few smart individuals sometimes plotting behind the scenes. The mightiest might even have some form of clans and form more organized structures, housing various illicit businesses with a sprawling nightlife of unspeakable options. Internal affairs with greed for power may also not be of unknown nature, with each cell plotting either together and then confronting each other with ulterior motives what would suit each of them best, but all agree on one common goal - That only Gallic Brigands remain their fierce grip on the gallic underworld and fighting off anyone laying claim on their turf, which unites them in some spirit at least. Activities As space pirates and criminals, the Brigands will involve themselves into any possible illicit activity and will raid unsuspecting trade convoys, even blasting some just for show, or if they simply didn’t like their faces. One can find influential fixers among their lines, with ambiguous goals, what counts is with what spoils ‘n stories you return or in how big of a bang you go into the books. They’re also seen making a buck by selling various robbed supplies, tools, medicine and weaponry on the black market to other revolutionary organizations and orchestrating large smuggling caravans into most of Sirius, returning with what suits them to their romantic ideals and relentless hunger for wealth and power. Brigands sprawl out, wherever bad administration reeks and suitable terrain is found as a soil to nurture people into performing the act of Brigandage, to practice the life as highwaymen, finding their loots at the many trade lanes of Gallia and returning as quickly as they emerged, mastering the arts of looting and pillaging. Long term goals of the Brigands would be to probe and partake into many other black markets in Sirius expanding their influence, and spreading their Brigandry into the Tau Border Worlds, while maximizing profits, and rooting out the competition remaining their iron fist on the underworld. Diplomacy The Brigands rather avoid any sort of political struggle and their diplomacy would mostly link up to that of the Liberty Rogues - with only few exceptions, if it suits them. As the highly decentralized group of pirates as they’re, one is best prepared to be shot, then questioned and expect different outcomes per met individual. Brigands trust no one and even struggle with their own internal affairs at times. However they are still willing to trade their robbed spoils and are to negotiate with, staging any gig in Gallia, or involving them in any lucrative illicit activity, hence why even Gallic Corporate Agents seek them out sometimes, to root out the competition, and gather intel. Cordial Trade Relations - "Lucrative proven trading partners, we can get use out from and are even willing to cooperate with at times."
Neutral - "Acting mostly on the basis of being indifferent to said groups, some of them, gained atleast somewhat positive feedback from the Brigands for a variety of useful services or trade partner potential they may offer or perks bringing to the table for their own gain. "
Untrusted
Hostile - "There are no big words to exchange, if you're on the list or happened to be unlucky at the wrong place at the wrong time, prepare to meet the exchange of hot irons."
