I really hope you know what you're doing. I've been worried about you non-stop, but it seems my concern is hardly wanted, or even needed in the first place. I've outlived my usefulness by now. You know how to handle yourself, maybe even far better than I ever did in his eyes.
For what it's worth, I'm really, really sorry for lashing out at you. You were only doing this to look after me. But I can't turn a blind eye to what you said to me. Since when does a stupid mission outweigh someone else's well-being? I was distraught when I said those things, I couldn't believe the tender and sweet person who taught me how to fire a gun and the person from last night are one and the same. Even now I'm still struggling with accepting any of this.
It's safe to say I will be taking my leave now. My job is done here, and I have a life to get back to. I'm not sure which way the wind's gonna blow, but crying in the rain really isn't going to do me any good. Staying here feels lonely and miserable, especially without you.
Oh, and by the way, congratulations on your promotion, I never got a single one in spite of serving for many, many years. Though I guess holding myself hostage with a gun isn't exactly the right way to earn any favors. Enjoy your paycheck, or whatever it is you high rankers get.
