Accept/Deny RE: Incomming Hail: Captain Wigston Archibald - Bretonian Armed Forces - Darius - 07-06-2024 [Having returned aboard the HMS Naseby, moored with Thames Station in the New London system, after filing the daily information report on the status of Dublin, Archibald was caught off-guard by the admittedly late-in-the-day comm request. After "throwing around" a number of orders, amongst which was one to make way for the Dublin Gate Site, he opened through the comms, awaiting Reid's message to be put through.] RE: Incomming Hail: Captain Wigston Archibald - Bretonian Armed Forces - Enko - 07-06-2024 Upon accepting the hail, an image appears onscreen for the bridge of the Agincourt class destroyer, HMS Brilliant with Commander Samantha Reid sitting in the Captain's seat. In the background one of the bridge consoles was actively being repaired by two crew members, and careful observation around what could be seen from the hail would show the ship went through some recent battle damage. Immediately after the link was established, the visual quality was noticeably degraded. Some small static or distortion show every now and again with classic signs of long range communication on the edge of visual ranges. "Captain." The Commander takes quick breath in, straightening her uniform slightly before remaining poised on the chair in a neutral position. "I'd apologize for the quality... it seems the Corsairs have attacked a few of our communication relays in the system... taking the same task as the Mollies like to do it seems. We've attached at range to Lisheen Station that is relaying it back to you now, but we're trying to stay at range while there are a few new hostile patrols in the system." The commander then leans slightly to her right, a soft exhale and slight shake of her head. "The tip from Galaway was correct, they've got a base out here that is clearly still being constructed but it's already got some defense postings around. It's not fully operational by the looks but it's certainly able to cut down our shields when we got a little closer." A little bit of extra static comes thrugh and the screen distorts. She then clicked her tongue, glancing to the side then back at the screen. "Unfortunately it's worse than that. We've taken some damage with some skirmishes with actual Corsair capital vessels in Dublin, they seem to like coming over in force as per the reports from New London but they're doing something a bit different here." In the background one of the crew members then moves off screen. Samantha would idly shift a little to the left in her seat as she continued. "We've got distress calls from BMM and other Bretonian corporation vessels but by the time we get there we only get debris and escape pods. We've interviewed some survivors and it seems that the Corsairs are establishing a new tactic of hit and run." "It seems after they take a transport or two out of the picture they high tail it and run, we're not sure if we have the manpower to respond right away but we're going to need to alter our plans here if this is going to keep up. So far responding to the calls has been enough, but they're adapting." She then looks back towards the viewscreen after she finished talking for the moment. RE: Incoming Hail: Captain Wigston Archibald - Bretonian Armed Forces - Darius - 07-06-2024 [Corsairs. Those brutes, yet again causing issues and only further aggravating an already-desperate situation. Wigston sighed, but nevertheless moved on to respond to the hail. After all, what other choice did he have, now?] Commander, your words have been noted. At this time, however, we can do little other than regroup our forces and extend patrols that much further to cover the asteroid fields of New London. [It was with a heavy heart that such words were uttered; coming from a proud Bretonian who had seen the Gallics driven away from Bretonia, to then be tasked with keeping them at bay for so many years... now, he had to call off a potential chance to strike at an installation of the Crown's enemies, one known to house forces powerful enough to launch attacks into New London. He continued, hoping to shed more light on the situation and his plans moving forward.] I- We are on our way to the Dublin Jump Gate as I am speaking. It would do us all a favor if the report from Galway could be forwarded to me directly. If indeed the news are as worrying as you are saying, then perhaps I may convince the Board to act on this. But, of course... [He takes a break, thinking.] ... that would mean pulling away valuable forces. Miss Reid, I trust you understand that both our careers depend on the success of this mission, that is, if it happens at all. |
