Character biography
Early life (796-814)

Javier Hernandez was born on September 8, 796 AS in the small town of Santa Elena on Planet Crete as the first born child of Josep Hernandez and Valeria Gutierrez. Three years later, his younger sister Sofía was born. Javier’s father, Josep Hernandez served in the Corsair Navy in his younger days, but after he had suffered a severe arm injury, leaving it partially paralyzed, in a battle with the Outcasts, he was forced to retire from his military service. Since then he ran the local bar together with his wife Valeria, quickly turning it into one of the public hot spots of the small town. Javier was a very social and intelligent child, often wandering out into the woods surrounding Santa Elena together with his school friends or his younger sister. Since a young age, he was fascinated by the stars and was often found staying up all night staring up into the star-studded night sky of Planet Crete.

During his time at the local school ‘Collegio di Santa Elena’, Javier has proven to be an excellent student and showed leadership qualities in his role as elected student representative. Especially his performances in the subjects Astronomy, Physical Education and Engineering impressed both his teachers and his parents. After graduating from the ‘Collegio di Santa Elena’ as top of his class, Javier was drawn away from his home and into the adventures of the capital city, Asunción.


Leaving home (814-821)

In Asunción, Javier studied Engineering with a focus on space ships at the ‘Universidad Nacional d’Asunción’ for three years. It was during this time, that he first encountered his future wife Maria Lopez in one of his lectures sitting next to him. The two quickly became inseparable and spent most of their free time together studying and making plans for their future. Soon after graduating from the ‘Universidad Nacional d’Asunción’, Javier found a position as an engineer in a prestigious company designing and constructing capital class combat vessels. Although he enjoyed his work, he was always interested and wondering how it would be to actually fly in one of the ships he was working on.

One day, years later, Javier was visiting his parents at their bar in Santa Elena, a former colleague of his father from his military times paid him a visit as well. The former colleague, now Admiral Gonzalez, was an eloquent and smart man, and was immediately interested in Javier’s talents. After spending a long night together in the bar with lots of rum, he convinced Javier to meet him back in the capital Asunción the next week to further discuss his career options in the Corsair Navy. Unsurprisingly, Javier was fascinated by Admiral Gonzalez’ offer to join the Corsair Navy and finally be on board of the ships he was working on for several years, given that he would successfully complete his basic military training first. Naturally, Maria was not very fond of Javier switching his career path, potentially risking his life by serving on a combat ship. However, he promised to marry her before he would ever leave on his first space mission.


Military service (822-832)

In February 822, Javier Hernandez started his basic military training on the grounds of ‘Fortaleza San Luis’. Over the next four years, he would train every day for more than eight hours to not only improve his physical fitness, but also to learn about the military ways from the chain of command to fast and efficient communication and mental preparation for life-deciding combat situations. After completion of his basic military training, Javier was recruited by a military organization called ‘The Deterrence’, which opened him the path to join their fleet and fulfill his dream of being part of the crew on a space ship. Keeping his promise to Maria, he proposed and married her shortly after joining ‘The Deterrence’ before his first departure into space.

With ‘The Deterrence’, Javier quickly learnt his ways around the ‘Tribunus’ class Battlecruiser he was stationed on and became a vital member of the crew especially regarding questions about the weapon systems and engines. In the beginning of his service, Javier was mostly part of simple, low-risk missions such as escort missions within the Omicron Gamma system or to its highly patrolled neighboring systems. With time, he gained experienced and was assigned with tasks of steadily increasing importance and potential danger.

In late 829 AS, the Battlecruiser on which Javier was mainly serving, was called to support in an imminent battle with an Outcast fleet in the Omicron Theta system. Having spent already multiple years on the ship, Javier rose to the rank of Lieutenant with his post being on the bridge to support his captain with advice on the best use of the ships weapon systems. In his new role, he spotted that the Outcast capital ship engines were especially susceptible to the impact of torpedo hits during the combat lasting for more than three hours already. Due to his observation, his captain ordered to target the Outcast ship engines and indeed was able to substantially damage them making the ships less maneuverable and therefore easy targets for ‘The Deterrence’ larger Battleships. Returning to Crete victorious, Javier’s captain as well as Admiral Gonzalez were very pleased with his performance and advised him to consider further specialized training within ‘The Deterrence’ to be allowed to command a ship himself. Few months later, Javier in fact decided to follow their advice and completed the special capital ship training within two years during which he gained additional experience as second in command on a ‘Praefect’ class Cruiser as well as a ‘Murmillo’ class Battleship serving in various conflicts with Outcasts, the Bounty Hunters Guild and the Core.


Present day (832-presence)

Since the completion of his additional training on capital class ships, Javier was not only educated in capital vessel combat and fleet strategies, but also got promoted to the rank of Commander. Today, Javier Hernandez commands mainly three capital ships: The Cruiser CNS>Edessa, the Battlecruiser CNS>Olympos and the Battleship CNS>Las_Palmas. Depending on the needs of the Corsair Imperio, he is regularly seen on one of the ships patrolling the Omicrons and Omegas or defending the Imperio against one of the many threats lurking in Sirius.
