Hedgemon - Community opinon - Xenon - 10-14-2024

Hello Discovery Community,

I want your opinions about a proposal to allow the Hedgemon (only) among all freighters to go to Uncharted systems.
Please give your opinion/reasons about this proposal, and thank you for your time.

i like the idea of being able to explore uncharteds in a bustard. or in a bismarck. or in a tempest.

not like i'm going to but i like to have this freedom of choice

RE: Hedgemon - Community opinon - Haste - 10-14-2024

Why would I use a Freighter for any Uncharted mining if I can use a ship with 15x the storage space instead?

RE: Hedgemon - Community opinon - Fab - 10-14-2024

this would kinda defeat the point of the uncharteds

Using the Hegemon for unchartered would be making more mining ship obsolete than it already has.

You both have a good valid point there.

Buenos dias.

I believe that the actual uncharted systems are absurdly well done, for me, together with the other "enigmatic systems" are the only thing that make me go to explore and find out stuff. Why would a civilian giant mining vessel go into a system that have 0 infrastructure to sustain it? nah.

Stay safe out there :]

In the long run, it is probably a bad idea. As it's already outlined above, it would defeat the purpose of smaller ships and, if that happened - it'd lead to subsequent nerf of the Hegemon: it is a somewhat combat potent ship and it's cargo hold is unmatched. As a self-sufficient miner it'd see a huge surge of popularity and Earhart expeditions would be swarming with an absurd amount of Hegemons. That's not to mention it'd probably nullify a lot of Uncharted hazards that are otherwise lethal and that Hegemon can just shrug off.

It's best not to touch what already works well enough.

You can already mine chirodebris in Earhart with it, which it's actually fairly good at (not sure if this got hit by the recent change or not though), beyond that I don't think it would be good to allow it to enter the uncharteds themselves

No, because like any other 5k-er, it should also not be able to dock into Uncharted space.
