Good morning
Today I am sharing the sad news of the passing of Sergeant Alice Durmont and Sergeant Terry Pyle. Both were caught in a Corsair ambush while on patrol with their wing in Cambridge. The pair were killed while covering the retreat of a civilian freighter convoy. We will be arranging a collection for their memorial fund to send to next of kin; if you would like to contribute, please contact Dan Rawkins.
Evidence retrieved from survivors of the attack indicates that the perpetrators were likely associated with the Black Sails criminal gang. These murderous pirates have been a thorn in our side for far too long, and I have authorised a pay stipend to any constable who can bring one in, alive or dead. These brigands are extremely dangerous, so exercise caution when attempting an arrest.
Due to the pressing need for additional police sergeants to cover wing responsibilities, Special Constable Timothy Appletree is to receive a probationary rank of Sergeant. Congratulations - please report to Inspector Mayfield for briefing and assignment.
Yours sincerely

Today has been far too busy in two different ways, neither of which I liked. I am sure the reports will come in about the Corsair incursion in the Cambridge System before long. Before my damn Ceres 60F got disabled I managed to salvage some gun-cam footage that I will attach... though I must file a formal complaint with the quartermaster later about the weapons that were provided to me! This thing was ill equipped to deal with the number of Titans and battlecruisers that simply waltzed right into Cambridge. I have some serious questions about the deployment of the Armed Forces as well, is it not their job to destroy such warships? I saw the CDI and a civilian mining group had more ships fielded! And now my ship was left in the workshop for hours having an entire engine assembly replaced with one that incessantly rattles about while at cruise...
After my ship was properly repaired I had gone and done that double shift as requested but... I do not know how you people manage it but I yaaawn I need more coffee. That frustrating woman from the Miners Guild was out again racing through the lanes and possibly disrupting them, though I could not catch her in the act. Later found her in Newcastle, loitering at the liner… where she mused about blowing it up believe it or not. She then proceeded to ask to be arrested then offered me her house? I am confused and concerned. I think she has made an attempt to flirt with me as well, which while flattering, is uh. Um. Is this in the handbook somewhere? Does she do this to everyone? Or lord, have I met her in one of those bars in Croyton without realizing it? Oh lord, oh no...
I er… I will attach an excerpt from the conversation below I guess.
I suspect she is up to something considering how she is acting, and so immediately after forwarding that message to the CDI. Though what it is, I am unsure of. Perhaps, how you say, it is all tomfoolery?
This coffee is free, right?
Yours sincerely

Constable Montgomery,
Dealing with the destructive aftermath of the latest Corsair incursion would nearly eclipse more pressing policing matters, such as how to manage the frankly deplorable behaviour exhibited by rabble like McAscott and her associate, Captain “Gizmo” Fuentes.
I am endeavouring to apply the core principles of the Community Outreach Programme in my interactions with them, and I believe we are beginning to see minor positive developments.
Of course, with people of that sort, one must speak to them in a slow, clear manner and ensure that their loitering does not obstruct active trade lanes.

Good morning Ma'am.
I am writing to inform you of the exceptional performance of the CDI in relation to the defence of Cambridge and Bretonnia in general.
I would especially like to point out the bravery, the performance and in some cases the delay, of the good, and not so good, men and women of the force.
A large scale incursion has been repelled with the help of the Galway's workers and a couple of naval ships.
It seems that in addition to being policemen we have to do the work of the little soldiers...
For all this, and if I may... I would like to ask for a salary increase of 50 credits per month for the constables Bob Pickerton, Jacky Montgomery and Ben Hudson.
And for me, as their field officer... well... 50 will do for the moment.
And if possible, I would like to ask with all humility, for a new dartboard and a new set of darts.
Yours sincerely, Timothy Appletree

Clearance: SENSITIVE
I am happy to announce that the HMPS Tayloe has been commissioned into service as the CDI's first directly operated prison ship. Flying under its original flag name of Grand Rapids, the handover from DSE was carried out at Susquehanna Station, Cortez.
Upon taking possession, an escort detail was provided by constables Arai, Montgomery, Pickering and Wels. During the initial shakedown flight, various systems were tested, including helm control and propulsion. Following the jump to Newcastle, an electrical fault resulted in the starboard lateral thruster locking into an active state, causing the liner to spin.
This issue was resolved by resetting the ship's electronics; the matter has been flagged for inspection. The Tayloe was fitted with new turrets at Scarborough Shipyard, and re-registered for police service at Gateshead. While travelling onward through Leeds, further tests confirmed that PLOPS had been activated and the transponder was broadcasting correctly.
Following a technical inspection at Canary Wharf Station, the hangar bay's autodock firmware was activated and then tested by constable Wels. This revealed additional electrical faults, however shunting the hangars onto the emergency circuit restored lighting. At this point, the constables were called away to respond to PLOPS reports of a Corsair vessel moving through Manchester. The DTR-CCS>GatitoExpreso was eventually intercepted near New London's Manchester Jump Gate.
We RVed with the constables a short while later to assume command of the situation. In an attempt to peaceably resolve the situation, constables Arai and Wels demonstrated initiative by shooting off the suspect's turrets. Despite extensive attempts to negotiate the Corsairs' surrender, the pirates eventually attempted to flee, while firing countermeasures with hostile intent.
The constables were forced to intervene, destroying the vessel. After suppressing remaining Corsair patrols in the area, several captives were collected and taken to the Coleraine brig, pending permanent transfer. Overall, a successful shakedown run. Additional diagnostics data is currently being checked over by our technicians. Final provisions and crew will be taken on shortly.
Yours sincerely

Inspector,
As requested, I am providing you with the bodycam footage captured during the recent incident near the Manchester Jumpgate in New London.
The footage distinctly shows shots potentially being discharged by or in proximity to the disarmed suspects—the captain and crew of a severely damaged Corsair transport vessel that shortly after, began manoeuvring in an aggressive and erratic manner.
The eventual destruction of the unarmed transport contributed to a swift de-escalation of the situation, effectively putting an end to the hostilities. This serves as clear evidence of the CDI's professionalism and restraint, with absolutely no connection to any reprisal related to the Corsair incursion into Bretonian space the previous day.
All other copies of the interception and destruction footage have been erased, as requested.

I am fully confident that this footage shall exonerate us from even the faintest whisper of impropriety or overreach, dispelling all possible allegations of misconduct or misuse of authority with impeccable clarity.

Okay. Alright. Fine. Okay...
Okay where to begin. Alright. The patrol today started off relatively fine. I had spent some time in the simulator to try to get the hang of flying this Ceres built thing, but I ended up getting contacted by a Galway ship who was in need of an escort through Bretonia. I obliged him, rendezvoused with his longhorn, and proceeded to CDC. The trip over was uneventful, and I then proceeded to cover him until we had left Bretonia, taking him as far as Curacao before turning around to return to my patrol. While doing the loop of London, I met up with Constable Gotoda and we almost immediately ran into a ship going by the name of captain_riker. I've made a habit of scanning every ship I run into as per the handbook, and his ship was full of untagged gold. The guy even admitted that he got it on the Molly base in Dublin. Now I know that's pretty bad, but this guy wasn't in our known offenders database, so I was willing to let him off with a fine and a warning if he promised not to break embargo again. Gotoda agreed, as the captain seemed to be pretty unfamiliar with the situation in Bretonia. Citing the violation of Regulations 2.1 and 2.2 of the United Kingdom of Bretonia Charter of Interstellar Law, I issued him a fine of 80,000 credits (this is admittedly less than the typical 108,000 for his cargo hold but I was willing to let him off easy).
Unfortunately this did not go over so well. The captain became argumentative, dumped his cargo, and fled the scene. We pursued after the ship, asking multiple times for him to stop and pay the fine. He then proceeded to beg us to kill him, and we decided not to give him that pleasure and simply destroy his weapons. He then opened fire on us, and caused damage to both of our ships. We had no choice and had to neutralize the ship.
We turned around to get repairs back at London, and almost immediately we found a Junker smuggler by the name of Slainte, but the ship proceeded to moor without saying a word.
Oh lord I just got this engine fixed too and it is making so much damn noise again! Ugh where is the coffee? Isn't there a damn place I can get an espresso around here, and a decent croissant? Please, lord...
Yours sincerely

I got some sleep. I had a very nice dream about being back home where there was some actual nice food instead of whatever the pubs serve and claim to be food. Then I woke up and I was reminded about how I learned to sleep through the sound of the train roaring past my Hab every ninety minutes. Christ...
Space today was a disaster. We had an encounter with the Cloud 9 again, the OS&C Longhorn. There was a very long and drawn out and confusing series of events that led to us writing up a citation for the ship and fining it for violation of Regulation 3.6 under the United Kingdom of Bretonia's Charter of Interstellar Laws (Deeds Prejudicial to the Good Conduct of Public Affairs). The commander of the ship was loitering, testing weapons, and perhaps even employing a Corsair fighter (which may or may not have been flown by an Outcast, ship ID Arturo.Rasgado). The conversation was long, very nonsensical, and ultimately felt like an utter waste of time. We eventually agreed to a compromise and I escorted the ship out towards the Tau 31 gate.
However on the way there, we encountered a KNF ship in orbit of Leeds ([KNF]Tonbokiri|66th). Appletree and Pickerton remained behind to deal with him as I escorted the OSC ship out. Their Corsair friend tagged along, having agreed to leave through the 31 gate before suddenly becoming aggressive and attacking. Pickering came to back me up, and in the midst of the battle, aliens appeared! I know it sounds insane, but an Order ship (Order|Mckinley) was present as well, soon followed by a BIS Agent by the codename of Sorcerer. I will attach further information and logs below, but I had to retreat from the battlezone after my ship was heavily damaged. Apparently Pickering chased the Corsair away not long after I escaped. Christ I may actually owe the dumb bastard a drink for that one.
I put in to New London for repairs, but it sounds like Agent Sorcerer wanted to do a bit of follow-up questioning. He however quickly became occupied with the alien, so we didn't get a chance to talk.
I also think I may have slipped up and said some stuff while under stress to the OS&C commander that likely will come back to bite me in the ass. Just please refer them to Hopper in HR I guess if it is about my previous employment history.

Good Morning / Afternoon Chief Inspector,
When I woke up this morning, it seemed for once I was well ahead of schedule, a rare feat indeed. I followed the advice of retiring to bed early and reducing my time on the neural net, and I even had my uniform crisply laid out the night before. It felt like the start of a proper, punctual day.
I fed my dog, gave her a quick pat, and made my way down to the spaceport with a confidence I haven’t felt in ages. Unfortunately, that confidence was dashed the moment I reached for my shuttle keycard and realized it wasn’t there. A daft oversight on my part: I had left it on the kitchen counter back home. So, with a few exclamations that I’ll refrain from repeating, I turned back, navigated the morning crowds, and retrieved the keycard.
Returning to the spaceport, I found myself behind a veritable parade of civilians and freighters, all queued up for some new security checks: no doubt more of the Home Office’s latest security initiatives. Once I finally reached my shuttle, the old engines decided to have a fit, refusing to start up without a bit of coaxing from maintenance. It took them nearly twenty minutes and no small amount of prodding before she was finally up and running.
And as luck would have it, once I was in orbit, I encountered one of those blasted lane disruptions. It seems a group of miners en route to New London had clogged up the trade lanes, so I had to idle there, fuming, while they sorted out their permissions. By the time I managed to get through, I was well behind schedule.
So here I am, regretfully and finally reporting in but a good deal later than intended, again. Apologies, Chief. Despite all my efforts to avoid it, it seems fate has once again conspired to keep me from a timely arrival.
On a more positive note, I’ve successfully recalibrated my neural net interface, which now provides accurate security flagging for my reports. Apologies for not addressing this sooner as my previous missives were sent without encryption, technically visible to anyone browsing the neural net. Not that anyone would likely take an interest in sensitive law enforcement updates, but better to keep everything by the book, wouldn’t you agree? Thankfully, I don’t think it’s caused any issues.
Best regards,
