Trader Ships - Frank Rom - 11-25-2024 So I would like your opinion/feedback on what can be just a simple matter. I've been trading with both 3.6K and 5K Transporters, and I've been wondering about the amount of cargo VS speed of the ship. Many times I find myself cruising long distances (which can also be mentioned the time it takes for cruise to be at top speed) and it makes me wonder if by losing time flying a 5K instead of a smaller Transporter will get me more credits after several runs. That said, are the 3.6K ships more profitable in a long run/time when tradelanes are non existant in certain systems of my trade route? Regards, Frank Rom RE: Trader Ships - TheKusari - 11-25-2024 All comes down to profit over time, my friend. 5k'ers excell at trade lane routes, 3.6k'ers excell at non-lane routes. There are some here who have done the math, or know what the best route is for both types. Don't listen to me though, I trade using a 2k transport Better for someone else to reply with the hard numbers. RE: Trader Ships - Lusitano - 11-25-2024 use the maths ... it all for credits per minute. flcompanion can help you with that, it is now very crazy and the numbers are not 100% correct, but it can give you a good idea how long it will take to go from point A to B in different ships. also you have to consider that even many routes are not easy with big clumsy ships, and smaller and more agile are the best. also ... 5k have zero defense capacities! i usually make my long range trades on my peregrine frigate because ... welll i like the design ... not that bad cargo hold ... agile for the size ... it is fast ... and also shoots something edit: i remember also .. the darkstats over there in the player utilities also can help you with that RE: Trader Ships - Frank Rom - 11-25-2024 Conclusion, time is money. Thanks for the feedback. I got a very nice ship with both cargo/speed and combat capabilities worth flying out of house space. I just don't get that nice bonus of 1.4K cargo. RE: Trader Ships - Lusitano - 11-25-2024 exactly. also you have to see what is on the other side. for example it can be very good and profitable to go to point A to B, but if there isn't anything good on point B to buy, or if it is, the best sell point is not very good for you for some reason, so instead going to point B you go to point C, that has less profit on that run but in long term, you will have a more profitable run or safer run trading here, can't be so simple like going from point A to B and then go back to A. |
