Interstellar Transit – Ship Captain Questionnaire

Applicant Name: Dawn Richardson
  • 1) What sort of space ship flight experience do you have?
Please describe any relevant spaceflight training, time spent piloting various types of vessels, or missions undertaken that would apply to the role of Ship Captain.
I have many years under several different Liberty Corporations, most recently Universal Shipping. Prior to this, I worked my way up through the ranks of smaller transport operations, learning most roles, which I think makes me a better captain today.

  • 2) What sort of experience do you have in navigation and trade?
Tell us about your experience navigating through different sectors, managing trade routes, or handling cargo shipments. How comfortable are you with using navigation systems, managing inventory, and coordinating trade deals?
Whether the larger corporations or the smaller organizations, trade is just a matter of systems - keeping your records and reports organized is key. Some of this I learnt through Universal and other operations, but much is just common sense so you can easily pull charts, daily trade data, and current cargo up on a monitor at a glance. I am very experienced in the art of trade, and have become extremely well versed in all lawful systems.

  • 3) How are your client service skills? Can you describe a situation where you used these skills to best serve the needs of a customer?
At Interstellar Transit, we prioritize exceptional customer service. Share an example where you went above and beyond to meet a client's needs or solve a problem to their satisfaction.
Much of these examples would likely exist from Universal - their redeeming qualities included on-time or earlier deliveries - often via massive convoys. Exceeding customer expectations by matching what the next competitor could do in offer, but bringing it in quickly by just focusing the contract was their forte - and it resulted in a lot of repeat business!

  • 4) Have you had prior experience dealing with local military or police forces of any houses? Any difficulties to report?
Navigating through various territories may sometimes require interaction with local security forces. Have you had any prior experiences with military or law enforcement, and how did you manage any potential conflicts or difficulties?
Most of our assignment involved friendly interactions with local house forces - most often just a check-in about local hostiles or even asking for an escort if they were available was the extent of the conversations. Anytime past that was typically items the head office hadn't sorted out with paperwork, so we'd just report back the issue and adhere to the officer's conditions until resolved by HQ.

  • 5) How do you deal with hostile factions when piloting a ship? What factors do you take into account when formulating a response to their demands?
In high-stakes situations, you may encounter hostile forces. How do you assess the situation, prioritize crew and passenger safety, and make decisions when faced with threats or demands from hostile factions?
In transport vessels, you really have no choice but to listen and look for opportunities to emphasize with their strong feelings on their local cause - most demand some bribery to calm some nerves but in the odd case where we've been turned back - it's better than them opening fire... calm, cool, and collected all the way.

Interstellar Transit – Ship Captain Questionnaire

Applicant Name: <Thomas Smith>
  • 1) What sort of space ship flight experience do you have?
Please describe any relevant spaceflight training, time spent piloting various types of vessels, or missions undertaken that would apply to the role of Ship Captain.
I worked for Interspace Commerce for a long time. I piloted a 5k volume cargo ship. I got to know some trade routes during this job and even made deliveries to Gallia. Over time, I gained more autonomy in the contracts I fulfilled to the point of deciding where to buy the product to be delivered. Many times the cargo was less than the ship's capacity, so I would fill the cargo with products I bought out of my own pocket and resell them somewhere on the original route, so as not to delay delivery. I managed to save a good amount of money and bought my own cargo ship with a capacity of 3.6k volume.

  • 2) What sort of experience do you have in navigation and trade?
Tell us about your experience navigating through different sectors, managing trade routes, or handling cargo shipments. How comfortable are you with using navigation systems, managing inventory, and coordinating trade deals?
During my time at the Interspace Company, I made deliveries to various points of sale in the territories of the four houses (Bretonia, Liberty, Kusari, Rheinland) and in the territory of Gallia, however, due to security issues, the routes were completely made through the trade lanes.
After I acquired my Serenity-class cargo ship, I began to venture into the border territories and beyond, so I began to familiarize myself with routes made through jump holes.
Whether by trade lane or by jump hole, I always keep updated digital maps of the territories and follow the news and rumors at every station I land at.

  • 3) How are your client service skills? Can you describe a situation where you used these skills to best serve the needs of a customer?
At Interstellar Transit, we prioritize exceptional customer service. Share an example where you went above and beyond to meet a client's needs or solve a problem to their satisfaction.
I always plan the delivery taking into account a margin of time for unforeseen events. On two occasions I was intercepted by pirates who stole part of the cargo. Thanks to planning, I had time to reassemble the cargo and make the delivery within the expected time.

  • 4) Have you had prior experience dealing with local military or police forces of any houses? Any difficulties to report?
Navigating through various territories may sometimes require interaction with local security forces. Have you had any prior experiences with military or law enforcement, and how did you manage any potential conflicts or difficulties?
I have been stopped a few times for cargo and documentation inspection. But I don't see this as a problem. Interactions with security forces have always been friendly. Truth be told, since I always keep the ship's documentation and maintenance up to date, there is no reason for there to be any problem. (and if there is a reason for a problem... jump holes)

I am aware that I am piloting a cargo ship and not a combat ship. So trying to escape or raise spirits is always out of the question. I always try to negotiate and maintain a friendly dialogue. And I also always meet the final demand.

  • 1) What sort of space ship flight experience do you have?
Please describe any relevant spaceflight training, time spent piloting various types of vessels, or missions undertaken that would apply to the role of Ship Captain.
Oh sonny, I have flown from this end of Sirius to that end of Sirius. I have seen all manner of beastly things out in the Omicrons, including some friendly half cyborg people talking to some jellyfish about god knows what! I seen stars and entire solar systems merge together and then split apart again. You don't believe me, do you? Oh boy, things get strange outside of the colonies, let me tell you!

  • 2) What sort of experience do you have in navigation and trade?
Tell us about your experience navigating through different sectors, managing trade routes, or handling cargo shipments. How comfortable are you with using navigation systems, managing inventory, and coordinating trade deals?
I have been force to retire from my own business, you see. Armstrong Freight! You have never heard of it, mostly bulk trade within the houses or specialty commodities beyond. I won't get into specifics because I'm not so sure what the statue of limitations are of some of those runs are! I have lost much of my clientele... well er, mostly because I outlived them! But I'm getting old... I can't keep up with the slick speak'n you youngsters do today. The thrill of flying hasn't left me yet!

  • 3) How are your client service skills? Can you describe a situation where you used these skills to best serve the needs of a customer?
At Interstellar Transit, we prioritize exceptional customer service. Share an example where you went above and beyond to meet a client's needs or solve a problem to their satisfaction.
I once ran a load of these strange boxes from Pueblo out yonder. I was beset upon by some Rogues. Ah, some of the boys actually ain't too bad once you understand them. Most of them are just scraping by and not really looking to pick a fight. Well, who knows...

  • 4) Have you had prior experience dealing with local military or police forces of any houses? Any difficulties to report?
Navigating through various territories may sometimes require interaction with local security forces. Have you had any prior experiences with military or law enforcement, and how did you manage any potential conflicts or difficulties?
Can't say *maintains a stone cold stare*

  • 5) How do you deal with hostile factions when piloting a ship? What factors do you take into account when formulating a response to their demands?
In high-stakes situations, you may encounter hostile forces. How do you assess the situation, prioritize crew and passenger safety, and make decisions when faced with threats or demands from hostile factions?
Well, I never took to fighting very well. That goes to my son. He's a freelancer through and through. He's escorted me a number of times and I have seen him cut through dozens of hostiles. Ever seen one of those glowing jelly fish... you know, the ones I mentioned before talking real strange with those cyborg people? Yup, he made one of them pop alright. Left behind some carcass remains that some shady fellows from some secret organization wanted real bad. Well, lets just say that we gladly handed them over and then spent a good amount of those credits at that casino in Shikoku. Oh, what's the name of that...

Harald Armstrong,

I can sense the strong on the job experience emanating from every word in your responses to the questionnaire.

The stories you must have of trading in those Omicron systems - and the routes best taken - are all of interest to our organization as we plot a course toward trade in the more distant territories of the sector!

Your story of the Rogues displays much empathy, which is good in diplomacy on the road, especially when having your son 'pop' them isn't feasible or safe.

Interstellar Transit – Ship Captain Questionnaire

Applicant Name: Jeff Simpson
  • 1) What sort of space ship flight experience do you have?
Please describe any relevant spaceflight training, time spent piloting various types of vessels, or missions undertaken that would apply to the role of Ship Captain.
My extensive flight experience started with some mentoring on Manhattan from a fellow Freelancer, willing to teach me the ropes in exchange for help with his operations. From that preliminary training, I worked my way through various craft of most civilian and house technologies, including many of the mining operation rigs. Convoy work, escort work, and resource collections I have all on my resume.

  • 2) What sort of experience do you have in navigation and trade?
Tell us about your experience navigating through different sectors, managing trade routes, or handling cargo shipments. How comfortable are you with using navigation systems, managing inventory, and coordinating trade deals?
My knowledge with the sector, aside from environmental impact tragedies like the storm in Kepler, is very broad. I have traveled many routes in search of materials that took me far into the Omicrons to acquire, as well as deep into the Taus and Omegas. Trade is second nature to me at this point.

  • 3) How are your client service skills? Can you describe a situation where you used these skills to best serve the needs of a customer?
At Interstellar Transit, we prioritize exceptional customer service. Share an example where you went above and beyond to meet a client's needs or solve a problem to their satisfaction.
I was part of the administration team on many different bases throughout my work with All Worlds Enterprises, and there were often times, especially during installation upgrades, when the base couldn't keep up with the supply coming into port. Rather than turn away a customer, we found room for the load in an empty vessel on the dock that was being refitted and used its hold as extra space to manage the issue, keeping the client happy by allowing the purchase of their goods.

  • 4) Have you had prior experience dealing with local military or police forces of any houses? Any difficulties to report?
Navigating through various territories may sometimes require interaction with local security forces. Have you had any prior experiences with military or law enforcement, and how did you manage any potential conflicts or difficulties?
Aside from the odd contraband seizure, I will gladly pay fines when I am found in violation of any local laws. It makes no sense to create drama with militaries or police forces unnecessarily - there's no profits to be made when constantly on the run!

Here's where I shine! I've likely been pirated more than most traders you'll see out there running independent, and have lived to tell about it. They need credits, and often that's their main motivation in holding you up. Just keep the chat friendly, turn the other cheek when they question your mother's beauty, and pay the nice ship with the warm, powered up weapons. At the low point, you lose a few credits of profit or some cargo. But done right, it can even open doors to hugely profitable blackmarket deals - those connections are worth every credit...

Jeff Simpson,

An experienced Freelancer like yourself almost needs no introduction at our offices.

Many have heard of your adventures in establishing AWE. I myself had experienced some interactions with ships passing through Colorado while I was still working smaller contracts on Planet Denver.

Your addition to our ranks will only push us harder as an group to achieve greater goals - especially bringing the resources you are willing to share that we had on the board as 'long term goals' objectives.

We look forward to working with you to chart new paths and attract new Freelancer investments in cargo operations and resource collections.

Welcome to the organization!
