I'm not usually one for interviews. But at this stage I feel there's little left I can do. The change in leadership is simple. I put the needs of my people on Pygar before the need's of Phoenix. Phoenix didn't agree with this, and so I was given an ultimatum. Bring Pygar in line with its polices. Or be Forced out. I did not wish to create any hostilities that could risk harm to the residents of Pygar, so I stepped down with immediate effect. Jerard Voncloud

I don't see the benefit of mincing words or sugar coating the facts as I see them. So, Phoenix's Policies. It was one specific detail that caused the schism between me and them. That is the Corsairs. Phoenix are not the biggest fans of the Corsair's nor their claim over Omicron Theta. Phoenix are very much of the mind that Zoner's do not need anyone and we should look after ourselves and should never bend the knee to anyone, especially the Corsairs. So when I signed the Theta Treaty they saw that as me Capitulating on Phoenix's behalf, which is of course complete bollocks. As far as they are concerned, I should of stood up to the Corsair's, told them to stick the treaty up their arse and stand my ground. But the fact is, doing that would of led to Pygar's invasion or even potential destruction of its colonies. So I signed the Treaty because that was in the best interests of the Pygar community. Even with Phoenix there wasn't a chance we could protect Pygar from a hardened Corsair fleet, Sure we could hold them off for a while, but we would eventually lose the battle. Onto your question about the consequences had I not stepped down. Phoenix are a wild card, had I refused I wouldn't of put it past them to return in force to usurp me from my position. I could be wrong of course but it wasn't a risk I was willing to take. I have done everything I can to avoid conflicts, to put the safety of my people first. So as my last act I left to ensure that no-one come's to blows or ignite a small civil war between Zoner's. Do I believe Phoenix can address Pygar's needs? Time will tell. Personally I think they may struggle if they end up butting heads with the Corsair's especially with the other Zoner group's in Theta being part of the Treaty they may find themselves without Allies when the time comes. Hopefully they will do what's needed to ensure Pygar get's what it needs but they will need to make changes to ensure its survival. -- Video feed --* ID: Jerard Voncloud * Location: Carrier Kaldra * Subject: Interview Signal coding complete Message Beginning: So, the Threat to Pygar to me became apparent when Freeport 9 was taken over by Corsair forces. The Worry was that we could potentially see the same but on a larger scale. IN preparation for this myself and the NCC started to create and Train a Militia should the worse occur and Corsair forces descended on the planet. The Colonies are within the Cave networks so they would for the most part be protected from Orbital bombardment so this would lead to ground based warfare. The fact is a vast majority of the Population are not combatants and those who did volunteer to train are just that. Volunteers. To face down battle hardened Corsair's with experience of countless battles was a tall order and should the Militia have been used, I suspect many would of lost their lives. The way the Treaty Mitigates this is that the Corsairs recognise Pygar as a Zoner planet, one that resides within what they consider their space and considered it a part of their protectorate. Truth be told I went into the talk's expecting a full blown demand of control, and though I left feeling like I had no choice but to sign, I have to say that they have been not only true to their word but shown a genuine desire to work together for the better of Omicron Theta. The Treaty ensured peaceful coexistence and Mutual Respect for one another. In Regards to Phoenix, its hard to say but I suspect they will be defiant in their stance and presume they are in a position to oppose and counter argue with the Corsairs. I fear that Phoenix believe themselves bigger and more powerful then they actually are. Not to say they are any sort of slouch, Phoenix does command a sizable fleet and have The Hyperion. But compared to the Corsairs, they are small fish. They wont accept the Treaty nor join it, and I suspect they will need to be slapped down a few pegs before they realise they need to get along to go along. I have had brief contact with the other Zoner's who signed the Treaty, mainly to warn them that I was no longer in charge of Pygar and that Phoenix have taken over, and probably wont honour the Treaty. In all honesty, the rest of Phoenix and its command had little to no involvement with me about Pygar until they decided I needed to leave. So the only example is as i stated before when I was given the choice to either step in line or step down. My main concern is that Phoenix have shown Xenophobic tendencies, and I fear they will begin to isolate Pygar choosing to attempt to do everything themselves rather then ever working or collaborating with the Corsairs which I doubt they will take kindly. Phoenix ships or those who work for them will become a target, making getting supplies to Pygar harder. This hasn't escaped the notice of residents whom have started to consider leaving the planet before things get worse, some reaching out to the Kaldra as a place to Dock temporally. The other big issue is Phoenix wont be able to call upon the Zoner's in Theta for Aid if the Corsair's consider Phoenix an enemy, as the treaty we signed forbids them from aiding enemy's of the empire which will lead to further isolation for the planet. The Planet..it is going to suffer.. As of now I'm unsure if there can be any mediation between the Pygar communities and Phoenix. Its possible that any of the other Three Zoner groups can, but it will be up to Phoenix to reach out, and it will be on their terms and their terms only. It all boils down to how this new Administrator handle's things moving forward. From what I see, the most pressing concern for Pygar beyond potential renewed conflict is the potential isolation. Since the Treaty Pygar has enjoyed a fair stream of support from all parties. Medical supplies, food, construction materials, mining equipment, personnel. There has been a sense of community and cooperation the likes we haven't seen since the hay days of Gran Canaria. This is all potentially going to be taken away and become a struggle should Phoenix decide to defy the Corsair's. People will begin to leave to yet again potentially have to start their lives again. My advice would be to respect the Treaty, but honestly they won't. They consider me and branded me a Traitor for Signing the Treaty, so I think that tells you the state of mind they are in.
