Continuing Coverage in Omicron Theta
Planet Pygar - Omicron Theta - Planet Pygar remains in a state of flux following the abrupt removal of former Administrator Jerard Voncloud. While the official line from the new administration remains thin, interviews with Voncloud and representatives from the influential New Covenant Church (NCC) have painted a more troubling picture.

Voncloud, in a follow-up interview, revealed the true gravity of the situation. He emphasized that the Theta Treaty, signed with the Corsair Empire, was not merely a diplomatic agreement, but a crucial measure to ensure the survival of the Pygar community. "The Threat to Pygar to me became apparent when Freeport 9 was taken over by Corsair forces," Voncloud stated. "The Worry was that we could potentially see the same but on a larger scale." He further explained that the Treaty provided crucial benefits, including vital food aid, improved trade relations, and crucial security guarantees from the Corsair fleet. "The Treaty ensured peaceful coexistence and Mutual Respect for one another," Voncloud stated, highlighting the significant improvements in the lives of Pygar residents since the agreement.

However, Voncloud expressed deep concern about Phoenix's opposition to the Treaty, describing their stance as "defiant" and potentially disastrous. "Phoenix believe themselves bigger and more powerful then they actually are," he warned. "They wont accept the Treaty nor join it, and I suspect they will need to be slapped down a few pegs before they realise they need to get along to go along."

This sentiment was echoed by Magister Yuri Orlov, Minister of Foreign Affairs for the New Covenant Church. In an exclusive interview with the Frontier Gazette, Magister Orlov expressed deep concern about the potential consequences of withdrawing from the Theta Treaty. "This Treaty is currently... let's say the umbilical cord of the planet," he stated, emphasizing the vital role it plays in providing essential goods and services to the Pygar community. Magister Orlov also highlighted the human cost of the leadership change, emphasizing the uncertainty and anxiety gripping the Pygar community. "People are worried about what the future holds under this new administration," he said. "Will they cut us off from the aid and trade that's finally making life bearable? Will we be dragged into some pointless war just to satisfy Phoenix's ego? The fear and uncertainty are palpable."

These concerns are shared by many within the Pygar community. As the situation remains fluid, the Frontier Gazette will continue to monitor developments and provide updates on this critical juncture in the history of Planet Pygar.

From Paige Turner, Frontier Gazette Correspondent on Corfu Base

The mood on Corfu Base is a stark contrast to the growing unease on the surface of Pygar. Here, amidst the gleaming chrome and humming engines of the Zoner fleet, there's a palpable sense of relief. Many here remember Freeport 9. They remember the families lost, the friends who vanished without a trace. They remember the whispers of forced labor, the silence that followed.

"That treaty is a betrayal," spits Jax, a grizzled veteran who lost his brother in the Corsair attack on Freeport 9. "We're supposed to trust those…those monsters? After what they did? They're not partners, they're conquerors in fancy uniforms."

Jax's sentiments are echoed throughout the base. For many Zoners, the Corsairs are not allies, but an occupying force. The Theta Treaty, in their eyes, is not a path to peace, but a dangerous capitulation.

"They say the Treaty brings stability," scoffs Anya, a young pilot who lost her father in the fighting. "Stability? At what cost? We're trading our freedom, our dignity, for a few scraps from the Corsair table. What happens when the Corsairs decide they don't like the terms anymore? What happens when they decide to 'renegotiate'?"

The fear of a return to the brutality of Freeport 9 is ever-present. Many here believe that the only way to ensure the safety of the Zoner community is to stand strong against the Corsairs, to resist their influence and maintain their independence. They see Phoenix as the only force capable of standing up to the Corsair Empire, a beacon of Zoner strength in a sea of compromise.

"Voncloud was weak," declares Shipmaster Kael, a veteran pilot with a grim expression. "He sold us out for a false sense of security. Phoenix is the only ones who understand the true cost of dealing with the Corsairs. We need to stand united against them, not bow down to their demands."

These are just a few voices from within the Zoner fleet, but they represent a significant portion of the sentiment on Corfu Base. For many here, the Theta Treaty is not a path to peace, but a dangerous gamble with the very survival of the Zoner community.
