Helpers movement - Perfect Gentleman - 12-31-2024

I had nothing to do yesterday and a newbie wrote to me asking for help. I helped him in Pennsylvania, and thought it would be nice to get a couple or three more of these guys who have “nothing to do” and could give some advice to a newbie Discovery player.

I don't know where this is going to end up. But it's definitely worth a shot. What do you think? Help a lonely Professional.Helper? Big Grin

Feel free take any Freelancer ID ship or smth lawful and come to start system. I'm not encouraging you to get together at a certain time or anything like that. Just if you see a newcomer and you feel like you can waste your time on them, then join!

Let me put it this way, I want this initiative to come from the players themselves rather than organized groups. I don't know why, but it just feels right to me to have independent loners (like myself, for example) who will just show up in Pennsylvania from time to time and help people out.

Maybe you guys aren't much different from the aforementioned Angels either, we'll see.

I'd love to see the Angels revived, but we don't have the players willing to help out that actively. Most help nowadays is received on the main Discovery discord.

I believe in a hands-on approach, with explanations right “on the spot” rather than texting in Discord. Yes, it certainly helps and it's cool if you guys are doing it. At the end of the day, everyone lives in different timezones.

But personally, I'd rather do the basics in-game and leave the more in-depth dive into Discovery to Discord. And besides, a beginner will be much more interested in playing the game when someone is near him and sometimes even “leads him by the hand”, rather than at a distance. I think that's why people fell in love with the Angels in their time.

Please help this fellow, they seem rather frustrated and confused with how Discovery is played:
