Azurite from Nomad Remains - TheSauron - 01-04-2025

I feel fairly confident in saying that Azurite and Relics are widely considered a pain in the ass to get, and I had a shower thought on how to alleviate at least one of those issues. It goes as follows:

Allow the Exotic Materials Refinery to convert Nomad Remains into Azurite Gas, with bigger Remains yielding more Gas.

That's it. I feel like this would get two birds with one stone - one, it alleviates the difficulty of obtaining the stuff, two, it makes it more fun without having to devise and implement a nu-mining system for it. It also comes with a bonus of ushering in the return of the fabled Remains farming of eld.

There might be some issues with it, as Nomad spawns are more common than Azurite fields, and there is a question of whether it should yield raw or refined Azurite, once that comes into the game. But, all in all, I think it'd be a net positive, though I have no clue if it would not go against whatever it is the dev team has planned for the resource.

As usual, a poll above.

I suggested this years ago and it absolutely should be a thing.

That is a very nice use for the nomad remains, and provides Azurite gas simultaneously.
Brilliant idea Wink

Doesn't really make lore sense tbh.

With proper ID, Azurite is quite easy to mine. It's up to you if you want to mine it yourself or if you want to buy it. There are even multiple stations trading it. As for Xeno Relics, this patch made mining them way easier by allowing transports in and out of Pi. Again, there are at least 2 stations trading them. Feel free to revive Core if you dislike Corsairs, but these are also easier to mine now-a-days.

Diversifying gameplay is a fantastic idea, especially since it would bring back Nomad Remains farming, which is a great activity!
This change could help revitalize the Nomad Worlds and encourage more activity there.

That said, mining, in particular, used to be one of the most relaxing and enjoyable things to do in Disco. Many players, myself included, miss that experience.
To bring back the charm of mining, I’d suggest keeping both mining options available.

One issue some players face is visibility within the mining fields. Many of us, especially those of us getting older, have eyesight problems that make the rock cracks and the small yellow mineable dots difficult to spot.
This is why the smoke effect behind the normal mining rocks was added—it allows players to locate mineable rocks more easily.
Preserving this feature is crucial for accessibility and enjoyment.

The new mining method offers a fresh alternative and adds diversity to gameplay.

To ensure fairness, I’d suggest adjusting the drop rate for regular mining so that the time it takes to gather resources matches the effort of completely mining a rock in nuMining.
To balance it, perhaps a small bonus in gold ore drops could be introduced as an incentive for players who choose nuMining.
This would allow both methods to remain viable, while giving players the freedom to choose the method they enjoy most.

By keeping both methods in place, maintaining accessibility, and tweaking the mechanics slightly, I believe we could create a balanced and engaging system that satisfies everyone.

I can't speak for the current state of it now, but back in the day I found it very fun and it was good faction activity.
