Key binds reset whenever I re-launch the game. - Astral2342 - 01-27-2025
Hello,
I got myself a new laptop and for some reason whenever I try to set and save my key binds and relaunch the game, the key binds reset completely to default.
Another oddity is that 4 files are re-spawning in C:\ whenever I leave Discovery instance, which are: 'crash_cache.json', 'FLUF.CrashWalker.yml', 'FLUF.UI.yml' and 'UserKeyMap'.
I've tried the next possibilities:
* Launching both the launcher and Freelancer.exe as administrator.
* Reinstalling both the Vanilla game and the Modded version.
* Making sure the 'UserKeyMap' text file has an unchecked 'Read-Only'.
* Restarting the PC.
* Removing OneDrive.
Nothing seemed to work by far, would be glad to receive some help in regards.

Which directory did you install Discovery into? If it is Program Files or something along those lines, consider creating a brand new directory which doesn't contain any spaces, for example

C:\Games\FLDisco\And copy the entire game folder there, no need for a reinstall. Do let me know if it continues to put the files in C:\ directory and if the issue persists.

I've tried your advice, sadly it didn't stop the keybind reset.

Same problem happens to me for quite a while.
It may be due to Windows, but I'm too lazy to search for it.
It stopped happening when they launched the new update, Beverly Hills 5209, but my game got stuck in an infinite loop animation and I had to Alt+F4. After that, it keeps resetting my controls.
Tip: Modify the UserKeyMap file with your controls, for the controls that you use the most.
That should only leave the undefined controls - Toggle Manual Reload and Toggle Shield Recharge - to define every time you launch the game.
And any controls you have defined as mouse buttons.

This issue is mostly likely caused by having special characters in the User's desktop name.
Windows fix: found by venemon

Settings -> Time & Language -> Language -> Administrative Language Settings -> Change System Locale -> Enable the Beta: worldwide language supportlet me know if this fix the issue.
