Hello! - Melvin Kilgore - 03-11-2025

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the Freelancer game and all that, but I wanted to explore the process of Roleplaying in probably the most non-lethal means possible as a civilian.

Are there some independent systems(?) that a lot of you guys frequent, considering the tension probably otherwise with border conflict, etc.

My intent is to honestly engage with as many people as possible because that makes me happy. Please let me know if you have any advice to ensure i'm following makeshift ship rules in correct space regulations to serve people food.
I'm a Yank, so this operation is probably 3rd shift for a lot of you, but that's ok!

Thankyou and hello!
-M

Hey, welcome to Discovery Freelancer! It's awesome to see someone interested in civilian roleplay—there’s definitely room for that in the game.

If you're looking for independent systems where you can engage with a variety of players without too much risk, I'd recommend checking out places like Coronado, Inverness, Baffin, and Omega-3. These tend to be lower in conflict compared to house space or border zones. Freeports are also good hubs for civilian interaction since they're meant to be neutral ground.

As for makeshift ship rules and space regulations, just make sure to check the laws of whatever house space you're in—Liberty, Bretonia, Rheinland, etc.—as they might have different policies on non-corporate food service operations. You could also reach out to official factions that manage stations or planets to see if they’d be interested in some roleplay collaboration.

Since your active hours might be a bit off from most players, hanging around well-trafficked systems or RP hubs (like Manhattan or New London) could help maximize interactions.

Hope that helps, and looking forward to seeing you out there!

Hi Melvin!
I enjoyed our RP the other day - very entertaining.
Keep it up! Smile

Welcome to Discovery! Glad to see a brand new person get into Freelancer and Discovery Smile

If you are after roleplay without combat, I would refer you to the Starfliers. Though that's heavy on the science / exploration roleplay, not exactly as a "Freelancer".

Unsure if that's your cup of tea but it somewhat aligns to what you're looking for.

-- Thanks for the tips; these actually legit help. I also don't mind discovering these answers and resolving them IC, which seems fun.
I'll cast my net out to current Sirius community and stumble into where I can, which I hope includes you!
