Bretonia Ministry of Foreign Affairs : Crayter Republic Foreign Affairs - Crayter Republic - 03-21-2025

Kingdom of Bretonia Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

It has come to the Republics attention that a modular station has been constructed in Tau-23 under the Bretonian corporation "BMF" for the purposes of Niobium fabrication. Claiming by royal charter Tau-23 is in "their care". The quorum has decided this is an attempt to monopolize the recourses of Tau-23 and is in violation of chapter 2 article 1 of the Treaty of Harris.

Care to tell us what you think you are doing? The quorum has been in a lot of hot air since the last incident with the guild and is not in a good mood as of late. Ministers are huffing that BMF are "looking for the pot of gold in Dublin with no rainbow" amidst the other debates that have been erupting while in session. It's best they get their explanation from the horses mouth.

In service to the Republic.

Minister Ward

It is of course excellent to hear from our stalwart friends in the Crayter Republic.

I can assure you that Bretonia is indeed mindful of its obligations under both the second chapter of the Treaty of Harris, as well as the Tadasu Agreement of 827 that preceded it.

Crown Corporations are statutory constructs that are empowered by their Royal Charters to undertake a broad range of activities. In this instance, the Charters issued to BMM and BMF specifically empower them to extract resources from Tau-23 as agents of the Bretonian state, and to develop their own infrastructure to facilitate that objective.

This in no way infringes our treaty obligations, nor does it fetter the access of our allies to that region. Bretonia has not unilaterally laid claim to Tau-23, and acknowledges its status as a jointly-administrated protectorate of the signatory nations. Citizens of the Crayter Republic and the Empire of Kusari are both welcome to exercise their rights in the system according to their own prerogatives, and frequently do so without issue.

Rather than arguing semantics about BMF's press releases, I suspect our efforts would be better focused on ensuring the ongoing Gallic efforts to circumvent our lawfully enacted embargoes are stymied. We note their corporations continue to unlawfully misappropriate Tau-23's resources.

Yours sincerely

Kingdom of Bretonia Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

Your message has been moved on to the quorum. Had you considered the implications of the other preying eyes from outside the taus? Patrols in the area report both Gallic and Maltese elements have taken interest in BMFs new investment. Already showing a spike in activity in the republics supply lanes. This is the reason why none of the nations of the Harris alliance have built a station within the system of tau-23 before, as to not draw increased attention and provoke aggression from outside nations. Soon you will find out why we have tried to keep it this way for years.
